Ellen's New Life

It Shouldn't Get This Far

"Do you love me, Ellen?" asked Mikey once again. His big beautiful eyes were looking at me, directly into my eyes.

I slowly nodded.

That made him cry. At first I was afraid I've done something really wrong, or that it made him sad.

"What's wrong, Mikey?" I asked.

"I never wanted us get this far," he said. "But now all I think about is you. Just you. Why do I have to be your uncle? Why do you have to be so young? This is so wrong."

"What would happen if you weren't my relative and I wasn't underage?" I asked.

"I love you so much I'd probably ask you to marry me," said Mikey.

"But I'm not sure what we're gonna do now, when this has gone so far?" I asked him.

"Maybe we should admit it all to Gerard," he said.

"No! Not Gerard. He'll ruin the whole thing. I don't want all we have to end," I said.

"But he's your father and you're underage and he has the right to decide instead of you," said Mikey.

"Okay, so let's do it now, please. As soon as we can. Or it will bother me until the moment we do it," I said.

"Okay, let's call him. Will you call him or me?" he asked.

"I'll do it," I said, and picked up the phone.
