Love in Spain

Part Four

When the pair made their way down the stairs Jess was noticing Alvarita’s odd behaviour. But Alvarita deliberately didn't make any eye contact with her. Standing at the bottom of the stairs was the young man that she had a school girl crush on just over a year ago, his arms were held out ready and waiting for a hug from her but she just walked around his arms and made her way over to Xavi Alonso. Jess saw the devastated look on his face before he managed to place a smile back on his face.

“Hey Alvarita, how have you been?” She couldn’t help but smile, she had missed all the lads, she was very glad though that there was now another woman that she could talk to at the team get together’s. She was also unbelievably happy to hear the rolling ‘R’ in her name.

“I have been good thanks.” She stated a large smile on her diamond shaped face, her dark eyes lighting up. “It was nice in England, but a little chilly.” A large grin was on his face, he had clearly had experience with the English weather. “I also managed to persuade Jess to come over here for a year, I thought she may like to see the sun.” the pair laughed loudly and everyone in the room looked at the pair. Alvarita looked around and saw the dark brown eyes of the long haired centre-back. She swallowed and looked away trying to find something else to look at, anything that was even going to be slightly entertaining, as she would end up staring at him all night otherwise, though she no longer had a crush on him he was still far too gorgeous for anyone to be able to look away.

“You avoiding him for a reason?” Xavi asked Alvarita. She looked up at him and shook her head. He left the topic of conversation. “You met new boy yet?” he asked her perfectly changing from Spanish to English. She hardly noticed the change.

“No I haven’t.” She looked around the room, and saw new boy standing in a corner looking slightly isolated. “What is he like?” his attention seem to be on her his hair styled in a mohawk.

“Put it this way, Iker won’t be too happy that his eyes haven’t yet left you.” She looked at Xavi a smirk on her face, and he had sudden feeling of trepidation, but there was already nothing that he could do. She had walked over to him to introduce herself to him and Xavi couldn’t help looking at her brother who seemed to be holding a rapid conversation with Sergio. Alvarita however was completely ignorant to what was occurring.

“Hey.” He said to her a smile gracing his face, his eyes not leaving her once. “I’m Cristiano.” She smiled, he had a way of charming people almost instantly. She nodded her head acknowledging the statement. “I used to play for United.” A large smile gracing his face.

“I’m Alvarita, Iker’s sister.” The conversation was very stunted and during the whole time his eyes had not left her. She looked around for another conversation topic. “Did you enjoy your time in England?” he looked slightly surprised at the question his eyes still taking in her appearance.

“England didn't have the right climate for me.” He stated simply, Alvarita was already growing bored of this guy he clearly wasn’t interested in any conversation. She looked around the room and noticed that Iker and Sergio were having a conversation she noticed that Xavi had joined them. Jess seemed to be in her element moving from one group to another making sure everyone was enjoying themselves, and she was rapidly making friends with all the lads. Jess had clearly been keeping an eye on her conversation with Cristiano and was happy to come over and introduce herself.

“Cristiano this is Jess” he glanced at her for a moment and then his eyes immediately went back to her. Alvarita was starting to feel awkward. All he had done since she came over was stare at her. “She has come over here for a year.” He was clearly uninterested, Alvarita sighed. “Excuse me, I am going to get myself a drink.” She dragged Jess off with her and they walked into the kitchen. She sat on one of the stools for the kitchen island.

“He seems interesting.” They made eye contact and giggled. Jess noticed that Alvarita kept on glancing at the door nervously. The door started opening and a tattooed wrist came into view. Alvarita instantly stopped laughing and looked around the room.

“Sergio!” Alvarita exhaled loudly and made her way to the fridge, Jess couldn’t help but watch her friend closely. The arm paused for a moment but then disappeared, and Alvarita though she didn't know this visibly relaxed. Jess was most defiantly intrigued but didn't ask her anything as Alvarita was clearly going to avoid this conversation.

“Your brother told me that everyone bought our things in.” After Alvarita had made a drink for herself and her friend she sat back down and started watching the door again.

“That is one of the things I missed most about England, I didn't have loads of blokes to do things for me.” Alvarita stated looking into her friends hematite coloured eyes momentarily before going back to her vigil. “They are also very efficient when food is involved.” She finished. Silence fell between the two and neither of them cared, they had lived together for too long to be bothered by silence.

After about twenty minutes the quiet murmuring that had been occurring in the other room stopped and Iker walked through the door a smile on his face. He walked up to his sister and wrapped his strong arms. Jess looked at the two and wondered whether they wanted her to leave the room.

“Everyone left,” he informed them. Alvarita glanced at her brother then nodded her head. “I will see you in the morning. I have a feeling that you didn’t sleep well last night.” Alvarita looked at her brother’s face and grinned at him. Before she spoke he answered her thoughts. “I am going to tidy up then I will be going to bed.” When Alvarita stood next to her brother Jess could finally see the family resemblance. Iker was only about an inch taller than his sister and their colouring was the same. Iker was admittedly slightly more tanned, but if Jess was honest with herself that was to be expected.

“Night guys, see you in the morning.” Alvarita left the pair in the same room. The pair had only just met and the only thing they currently had in common was Alvarita.

“Erm, feel free to go to bed, I can tidy up.” Iker said to her and Jess just looked at him.

“I will help, I have some extra energy anyway.” He nodded his head and the pair started clearing up moving the small amount of food left onto two plates, which were placed on the island and Jess sat and watched as Iker loaded the dishwasher.

“Can I ask you a question?” Jess asked while he was standing up looking around the kitchen for any other dirty dishes. Jess was sitting picking at the leftovers and watching Iker intently. He sat next to her watching her pick. “Why was Rita so on edge this evening?” Iker was silent he didn’t know how to explain what was going on with her and Sergio. “And, why on earth did she not give him a hug like he wanted.” She looked at him inquisitively.
