Only Fools Rush In

Chapter 9

Being pushed up against his front door, Jack groaned at the intense contact of Alex’s hands running all over his body and his lips smothering his own. It wasn’t long before every sensation was travelling down to the teen’s crotch.

Their mouths moved in sync, their tongues a ballet. They couldn’t get enough of one another in that one kiss and they weren’t caring if anyone spotted the two.

Breaking apart to gasp for air, the couple stared at each other with eyes ablaze and lips bruised. There was lust and longing in both sets of eyes which only made the raven haired male give in to temptation, leaning in to press his lips back to where they craved to be.

Jack sighed as he felt the object of his attraction kiss back, however it lasted no longer than a few seconds before the elder pulled away and rested his forehead against the adolescent’s.

“This…this can’t happen, Jack.” Alex breathed as the younger male looked at his closed eyes, feeling a pang of hurt. “It’s illegal. I mean, I’m your teacher and you’re my student…I could lose my job.”

And no matter how much the kid wanted to pretend his words didn’t feel like a dagger to the chest, they did. But he also knew that Alex was speaking sense.

“I’m not going to say anything, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“That’s not what‘s bothering me. It’s too risky and…and morally wrong.” the brunette pulled his head away and took a step back. He avoided the teenager’s gaze as he spoke, “this was a mistake.”

Jack didn’t know how to react to those words, so he just stood there staring at Alex. The kid knew it wasn’t a smart thing for the two of them to do, but he didn’t think it was a mistake. Not when it made him feel so alive.

The teacher took another step back, looking at everything other than the student holding his line of sight. The raven haired boy couldn’t think of anything to say, anything that would get them to talk the whole thing through.

“Uh…I’ll call you,” the older male muttered before turning on his heels and heading back to his car.
“You don’t have my number,” Jack called out but to no avail. Alex ignored him and got in his car, driving swiftly away to leave the teen alone and confused.

Sitting in his room with music blaring through the speakers of his stereo, the youngest Barakat tried to get his head around everything that had just happened. It was painful but he had to do it.

Things had been going so great, he thought. They were having a blast and for the first time Jack could relax around someone other than his siblings. He was really enjoying the day.

But then that kiss. That wonderful, fuelling kiss that left him weak at the knees and in need of a little more attention from the man. He had never experienced anything like it and he wanted more.

In all honesty, the teen just needed any form of communication with his teacher to suffice. Though with the way Alex left, ignoring Jack’s words, he didn’t think that would happen, inevitably angering him.

So for the rest of the weekend Jack moped around his house, constantly over thinking what had happened at the party and the following day. For the most part, the teen thought he was very lucky to have even gotten that close to Alex. And he couldn’t help but replay everything he remembered over and over again.

Danny checked up on him every now and then, thankfully never asking questions about Alex. He seemed to be in a mood with the kid anyway, so they were both silent around one another until Mr. and Mrs. Barakat arrived home.

And even then, Jack didn’t speak much. There was too much on his mind to hold a conversation with anyone, but then again, his parents wouldn’t chat with their youngest son.

Jack didn’t stop at the coffee shop for a much needed caffeine boost on Monday morning. Instead, he went straight to school and hurried to his homeroom class to hang out and finish off some homework.

By the time the bell rang, the senior had completed his work and was looking through his phone mindlessly. He tried to ignore the other students as they marched in, voices loud and cheery which only irritated him.

“Jack, sit over here.” he heard someone call out to him. Surprised, he looked up and found Rian’s gentle smile and Zack’s warm eyes enticing him over. Everyone in the room gave the two jocks and the lanky male a look of perplexity, obviously wondering why someone like Jack would be allowed to sit with a couple of popular kids.

Taking the seat next to them, the three started talking and Jack found himself relaxing around them, all worries concerning Alex forgotten about.

That was how the rest of the day panned out; the new friends hanging out and having a laugh at the expense of each other. Jack hadn’t laughed as much since…Alex. But he was quick to dismiss that thought and enjoy the time he was having.

Young Barakat’s day was going remarkably well, and it was all due to befriending Zack and Rian who were possibly the nicest teenagers he’d ever met. So when he wandered into his last class of the day, reality struck him.

Mr. Gaskarth was sat at his large desk with a red pen in hand as he graded the pile of papers lying in front of him. There were a few of Jack’s classmates already settled, so he snuck in and took his own seat in a hope to not attract attention.

When the rest of the class were in attendance, Alex got up and scanned the room, his gaze falling on the raven haired boy for a moment. It wasn’t long, but it did fluster the teacher slightly.

Once the students had been instructed on the day’s lesson, everyone got to work while the brunette began to collect in the homework. Jack noted that he started at the wall furthest away from him, giving the kid time to fume.

His anger was back and all he wanted was to ignore the teacher and disregard all the feelings he had for him.

“Your homework, Jack?” a tight voice asked, causing the teenager to look up and glare at Alex. They both held the strong stare for a couple minutes, the conflict between them becoming unbearable.

Not leaving the young man’s eyes, Jack picked up the sheets of paper and pushed them at Alex’s chest. Mr. Gaskarth let out a sigh and broke the eye contact, dejection washing over him as he took the sheets and carried on.

The rest of the period was much the same. Not many words were shared between them, and the ones that were spoken had a sharpness to them. The tall male just wanted to leave and hide.

“Jack, can you stay behind for a minute?” Alex asked when the final bell had rang and the students were leaving the room.

Part of the teenager didn’t want to be left alone with the man who caused him so much bewilderment. But then the other part of him wanted to be in the presence of the attractive male more than anything.

Rolling his eyes, he did as he was asked. The door closed when the last kid left, leaving the room quiet and filled with tension that only increased as the minutes passed. Finally, the spell of silence was broken as the brown haired male spoke.

“I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t know what else to do except leave. I was confused an-”
“Confused?” Jack interjected, “Huh, I wonder what that feels like.” he snapped and was happy to see it effected Alex.

“Jack…” the teacher murmured as he ran a hand through his hair, “I can’t…I don’t know what to do,” the anguish was evident on his face, and all the teen wanted to do was reach out and hold him tightly against his body.

“Well, if you hadn’t walked away from me, we could have figured something out.” Jack replied, keeping his voice soft. “Alex, I don’t know anything about this kind of thing. And sure, I don’t remember much of Friday night but I do know that you made me really happy on Saturday. Quite an achievement.”

Their eyes met when the brunette looked up, his sparkling like the ocean as the kid’s held a tinge of hope.

“It’s just, I have these…feelings. And they’re wrong because of my position but I haven’t felt as good as I do when I’m around you.”

And that was all it took for Jack to melt, an angelic smile etched on his face. Alex relaxed at the sight, his own beam spreading over his expression.

“Jack, can you come over to mine after-”

“Alex, I’ve been waiting for you,” a young, slutty teacher purred as she barged into Mr. Gaskarth’s room. She raised an eyebrow at Jack, her eyes scrutinising the young male. “Oh, you’re with…” she searched for a name but came up empty, “a student.”

Jack couldn’t stop the glare he gave his Math teacher as she ogled Alex with hungry eyes. Not only did she forget her pupil’s name, but she interrupted his time with Alex.

Her blouse was unbuttoned at the top to reveal a lot of cleavage and her tousled hair falling down her breasts. She was obviously trying to gain the male teacher’s interest.

“Yeah, I’m a little busy right now, Sara- uh, Miss Bruce. I’ll talk to you later,” Alex replied, his eyes only glancing at the young female a couple times before they were back on Jack.

However, blonde bombshell Sara wasn’t happy with that response. “You haven’t forgotten about dinner, have you? You promised.” she pouted, trying to be cute but looking as if she had an allergic reaction to bullshit.

Jack watched as his Music teacher furrowed his brows, thinking of this ‘date’ they had planned. And then Alex’s face paled as realisation hit.

“N-no, of course I haven’t…uh,” he looked up at the teenager and spoke with an apologetic edge, “Jack was just leaving anyway.”

The agony displayed in Alex’s eyes did nothing for the senior. He was more upset than he had been at the weekend, though there really wasn’t any point to be. It wasn’t as if the two males were together, no matter how much Jack wanted them to be.

Picking up his backpack, the raven haired teen gave his teacher one last look and a shake of his head before walking out of the room, ignoring the sickening grin on Miss Bruce’s face as she took in Alex standing alone.

Jack slammed the door shut and made a quick escape out the nearest exit and strode off in the direction of the parking lot. As soon as he sat down in his car, he turned the stereo on and blasted Good Charlotte through the speakers, hoping to drown out all his thoughts.

As he sat there with his eyes shut, hands gripping the steering wheel harshly, and jaw clenched, he couldn’t help but ask himself; “why can’t things go in my favour for once?
