One Hit Wonder

Prologue

Sylvia never thought she would be here. All the late night work paid off. That’s the only reason why she and her friends were here. If, she had not finish the lyrics … if she had not finish homework … if she had not agreed to put their song on the Internet. Maybe, they would have been friends, still. Sylvia gazed over at the piano. There was no one, the emptiness was eating away at her. Guilt. How could she let this go to far? After all, she was the leader.

Wait!

Sylvia shook her head. How could she think she was the leader? They were all, together. There really wasn’t anyone who would be called the “leader”. Pride was getting in the way. How did she become like this? Was it the fame? The attention she rarely gets?

Sylvia held the microphone in her hand. A pattern was on the handle. It was fabric, black and white stripes. Nothing fancy.

I can’t go out there. Not without Ivy.

Sylvia was going to run, to find Ivy, but something caught a hold of her. She came face to face with it meeting a pair of baby blue eyes.

“Where are you going, Sylvia?” Louis asked, concern in his voice.

“I have to find Ivy. We can’t sing out song without a piano player.”

“That would be hard to without it.”

Sylvia nodded her head.

Forgive me, Louis. I hope you know I never meant to hurt you. I ruined everything for you.

“I will get the boys. We will figure out something to buy you time.”

Sylvia smiled. She wrapped her arms around his torso. “Thank you.”

Her head was on his shoulder. “Welcome.”

A deep cough ruined their moment.

Sylvia and Louis pulled away to see the whole band standing there. Zayn, Liam, Niall, and Harry. Sylvia noticed how Harry was standing far from Adelaide. Her eyes were clouded and she seemed distant.

“When was I going to be informed?” Addy asked.

“When Louis was going to tell the boys?”

Sylvia had no idea. She was focused on getting Ivy back. She had forgotten about Addy.

Addy rolled her blue/green eyes. “Whatever, I’m coming with you.”

Sylvia was going to protest but Addy spoken up before she could, “It wasn’t just you who messed up. I did, too,” Addy replied; even as she spoke Sylvia could tell she wasn't the same girl she had been when they got into this mess.

Sylvia was quiet. She didn’t know what to do. “Then, we should go get out friend, back.”

This is their story …
