Save You Tonight

He's So Overrated

I pulled my blazer closer against my petite body as the harsh London air nipped around me. I peered down at the antique watch on my watch on my wrist and a few swear words fell from my red tinted lips. I was running late and if I didn’t hurry up I would be late for work once again this week. I was made a person note in my head that I needed to stop off at the appliance shop on my way back to my flat after work to buy a new alarm clock. The one I had now went off minutes after the designated time I had set the night before, causing me to miss the 10:15 tube that allowed me to reach work usually five minutes before I was due.

I sped up my pace a little as I saw Rory Rage Boutique enter my line of view. If I wanted to keep this job, I had to make it to the shop and clock in before I was even one minute later then I already I know. I was already six minutes late; even one minute more made a difference in me keeping this job and getting fired. I have only been working at this store for four months and I was already late enough to match a few years of someone’s employment record.

Pushing the doors of the shop open, I looked around for my fire headed co-worker. I noticed Michelle behind the register the same moment she noticed me. She shot me a full smile and gave me two thumbs ups. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. Michelle thumbs up meant that I made it just in time. I wasted no time making my way towards the backroom to seat down my bag and clock in. Once I did this I made my way back to the front room where Michelle was.

Michelle was one of the few friends I made in the city of London. I had moved hear about a year ago, and I had meet her in the first job I was working at. It was a small café on the outskirts of Hyde Park. Michelle was a usual customer that came in for her morning tea. We had cliqued immediately as she told me the best spots to eat in London and the best clubs to go to when I was in the mood to party. She was the one who helped get me the job here, after I quit my previous job because my boss turned out to be sleazier who tried to seduce his employees who were almost twenty five years his junior.

When I returned back to the front of the star, Michelle was singing and dancing around the store to ‘Want U Back’ by Cher Lloyd. I couldn’t help but laugh at her childish antics before joining in alongside of her. We were so much a like I guess that’s why we cliqued so easily. When the song finished, she flopped down onto the chair behind the register and I hoped onto the register counter.

“So, what is on the agenda for today?” I asked, kicking my legs back and forth.

“We only have one appointment booked; Laura said that a group is coming in to do fitting and need outfits for a premiere they are attending. They don’t want to go with the whole Tux approach Laura said it bores them” Michelle answered shooting me a sly grin.

I hopped over to counter and made my over to her bouncing slightly, “You’re lying? Oh my god when are the coming”

When Michelle nodded her head in response I couldn’t help but squeal and jump up and down clapping my hands. I enjoyed booked appointments, but group appointments were always my favorite. I felt like it was one big make over straight out of a movie. When I meet the group I would be styling I made up my own version of their back story, if I didn’t know anything about them. I tried to incorporate the stories into what I pick out for them to wear, and at the end of the fitting when I got to know them a bit I try to see how accurate my story was. I was usually pretty accurate if I do say so myself.

“Some ones excited” Michelle chuckled raising an eyebrow at me, “might want to calm down they should be here in the next ten minutes are so, it is already 11:50”

I jumped back up onto the counter and sat on my hand to calm myself, “Did Laura by chance tell you who the group that is coming is exactly?”

Michelle shook her head, “She only said it was a group of blokes, I hope their fit, a sight for sore eyes yeah?”

I rolled my eyes at her but cracked a smile anyways, “That would be bloody fantastic, but not too hot that they have you drooling on the job.

“That was once can you blame a girl!” She huffed, crossing her arms over her crossing her arms over her chest.

I couldn’t help but burst into a fit of giggles, which only cause Michelle to swat at my arm and blush a deep ruby red. Before my redheaded companion could abuse me anymore, we heard the chimes of the bell over the stores entrance, indication someone had entered. I quickly jumped off the counter and Michelle came from behind it to stand by my side. When I turned towards the door I felt my jaw slack just the slightest in shock. Before me stood the five boys that were posted all over my little sister wall back in Montana.

I heard Michelle let out a soft squeal from next to me causing me to roll my eyes, it was obvious she knew who the five guys were and was big as a fan girl as my thirteen year old sister. I nudge Michelle in the side and raised my eyebrow at her before once again rolling my eyes when I saw the wide smile it was on the face. You guys might think from my reaction that I disliked the five teen pop singers that stood before me with matching grins. It wasn’t that I thought they couldn’t sing or anything, I just saw them as Justin Bieber times five. Yea they had good voices and I’m not going to lie they’re pretty good looking but the whole hype around them were overrated.

Anyways I placed a slightly forced smile on my face and went to approach the five boys knowing Michelle was still fan girling in her head and wasn’t going to move at the moment. I silently prayed that they weren’t as rowdy as the T.V. and radios made them appear to be. I mean, yes I enjoyed entertainment as I did my work, but not to the extent that it got into the way of what I needed to do.

“Hi, my name is Coraline, how can I help you” I said, my sales voice coming to play.

“Coraline, like the film? If it is your name is brilliant just like the film, bloody brilliant I tell you.”

The blue eye suspender wearing one said and I couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Yea just like the movie, but I wasn’t named after my Nana”

“Well your Nana must be an amazing person with a name like that” The blue eye guy said, shooting me a pearly white smile.

“Thank you she is” I smiled in return, “but, would you guys be the group that is booked for a fitting and styling?

“That would be us” A strong Irish accented voice spoke left to the blue eyes guy.

“Good, can guys can follow me to the fitting areas.” I flashed them a smile before heading to the fitting area of the shop.

On the way to my destination I punched Michelle in the arm as she was still in the same spot from when the boys had entered the shop. Michelle snapped out of her daydream of a haze when she registered the pain from the punch she received from me. She glared in my direction which only caused me to stick my tongue out at her. I guess the boys found our antics funny, because I was applauded by a round of chuckles. I allowed a small smirk to make its way onto my face, it seems like I was a regular comedian if I do say so myself.
