this is fact not fiction

"Lydia, I'm so sorry to hear about Ross," her coworker, Melissa, said. How she found out, she had no idea. "You must be devastated."

She nodded her head and gave Melissa the best smile she could muster. Melissa sighed and squeezed in a hug.

"Listen, my cousin's husband has cancer and she goes to one of those therapy session things, like AA meetings only for those people who's loved ones have some sort of disease, and they give you tips on how to be supportive and how to deal with it and such," Melissa pulled out a rectangular card from her purse. "You should definitely go to these. You and Ross are too young to be able to deal with this on your own."

She took the card and stared at it for a second longer than she intended. It only had an address and phone number.

"Thanks, Melissa," she said, pocketing it. "I will look into this."

Melissa gave her a sad look and pulled her into a hug again.
