"So, is he a new friend?" he asked, quietly.

James left after he introduced himself and told her that he would call later.

She nodded her head, "Yes."

"Is he your boyfriend?"

"I have a husband."

"That you lied to."

She looked at him and found him staring at her when he said those words. She sighed and held her head in her hands, feelings the tears threatening to spill over.

"I told you I was sorry, Ross," she whispered.

"Why didn't you just tell me that you didn't want to have a baby with me?" he asked, exasperated.

"Because you cheated on me."

Silence. She looked up and he was looking down at his hands, clenching his jaw.

"It all comes down to that," he said. "You'll never be able to forgive me for this, will you?" He looked at her with a bitter smile on his face.

"Ross, I'm sorry that I lied to you, but I have never felt so hurt in my life before."

"So, you just wanted to hurt me back?"

She shrugged her shoulders and tears spilled down her cheeks. "I don't know," she said. "I don't know what I was thinking, but I do know that we're married. For better or for worse, remember? I stayed with you because we promised each other that we would never leave. I–I love you."

"Lydia," he looked at her. "I love you more than anything in this world, but I can never forgive you for this and you can never forgive me for cheating on you. This is unhealthy."

Her voice shook when she asked, "What do you think we should do?"

"I think we need time."
