“Ah she’s waiting at the park. She uh, She is um. She’s waiting for you, Alex” Kara finally managed to spit out. Immediately she saw Jacks expression change to one of heartbreak as Alex smiled slightly as he was still unsure of what that meant. Had Jess picked him or was she breaking the bad news to him.

Alex awkwardly got up from his seat on Jack and said bye to everyone as he walked up the stairs and out the front door. He quickly made his way to the park where he knew Jess would be. He didn’t want her to be waiting for too long so he began to run there. The sooner he arrived the sooner he’d know who she had chosen.

Jess sat on the swing waiting for Alex to arrive. Her original plan was to go to their band practice and tell them there but she couldn’t. She wanted to talk to them separately. So on her way to Rian’s she decided she would wait at the park and get Kara to send Alex to her. Jess slowly swung as she thought of what she was going to say to Alex, by the time he had arrived she had a whole speech prepared.

Alex awkwardly walked over to Jess gaining her attention by stoping her swing from moving. Jess froze and looked up to Alex, who looked terrified.

“Hey” They said simultaneously as Alex sat down on the other swing.

“So…” Alex said trailing off hoping Jess would pick up where he left off.

”I’m sorry Lex. I can’t be with you.” Alex’s heart stopped beating as sadness took over his body. He lead himself to believe Jess wanted to meet him here to say she chose him but it was the opposite. Alex tried to hide his shock as Jess continued to explain her chose.

“Like I said before, you’re too late. I did used to really like you and a part of me always will but a greater part of me loves Jack.” Alex cursed himself. If he hadn’t had kissed that one girl whose name he can’t even remember he could have been with Jess this whole time. She would’ve been his.

“I trust you Alex, I told you everything there is to know about me and I haven’t done that with many people. I really want to stay friends lex, but I understand if you don’t want to. For what its worth I think we would have been great together too.” Alex couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. She had used the line he said after he announced his love for her. He was handling the situation better than he thought he would. Alex imagined himself screaming or crying not sitting there calmly.

“Are you gong to say anything?” Jess asked after minutes of silence. Alex looked up, lost for words. He was disappointed but he understood her decision was final, Jess wasn’t his to hold. He shrugged he shoulders in response before speaking.

“Jacks one lucky guy… I would say I’m happy for you but I know you wouldn’t believe me anyway.” Alex said as he stood up from the swing.

“Yeah I wouldn’t” Jess laughed as she copied his actions.

“Well I hope you two are happy together and I do want to stay friends. Just give me sometime, you know to get used to it and stuff.” Jess smiled at how maturely Alex was handling the situation. She expected begging and pleading .

“I understand but I really don’t want to come between you and Jack anymore than I already have. So if it is a problem just tell me and I’ll leave.” Alex looked shocked for a second before regaining his composure.

“There won’t be any need for that, I promise. You and Jack are better for each other.” Jess smiled at his sincerity as Alex opened his arms for a hug.

“Friendship hug?” Alex asked as Jess walked into his outstretched arms. Alex wrapped the girl in a tight hug which she gladly returned. She hoped that they could stay friends, she wasn’t lying when she said she trusted him. Alex did mean a lot to her but as a friend and nothing more.

“It looks like someone has to go deliver some good news to one lucky idiot” Alex laughed as he let go of the small girl. Jess’ smile grew wide at the thought of telling Jack. Alex told her that Jack would probably still be on the lying on Rians lounge and advised her to head that way.

The two said goodbye as they headed in opposites directions, Alex on his way home and Jess off to find Jack. As Jess walked she couldn’t help but feel right in her decision. When she realised she had said Alex‘s name first she couldn’t ignore the slight disappointment that fell over her. It was enough for her to know that there was never really a choice, It was always Jack and it always will be Jack. Since day one her and Jack had had a connection that no one, not even Alex could ruin. They were like two peas in a pod and were meant for one another.

Jess had to stop herself from breaking out into a sprint as she eagerly walked to Rians. She was excited to be able to begin her relationship with Jack again. She couldn’t wait for him to hold her once again, for him to be hers and her to be his. The time without him has been horrible and hopefully things can go back to the way they were.

After what felt like decades Jess was finally standing at Rian’s front door waiting impatiently for someone to answer. Thankfully Kara showed up seconds later letting Jess into the house.

“Is Jack still here?” Jess asked excitedly.

“Well hello to you too, and yeah his moping downstairs” Kara said smirking.

“Why is he moping?” Kara looked guilty as she walked into the kitchen area.

“I may have told him that you picked Alex” Jess eyes widened as she slapped Kara on the arm

“Why would you do that! You bitch!” Jess said in mock anger.

“Ow! I don’t know. I thought it would be funny to see his face when you showed up” Kara defended herself as she got a drink from the fridge. The girls laughed as Jess left to go find Jack. On her way she ran into a confused looking Rian. Jess rolled her eyes and told him to ask Kara.

A sudden feeling of nerves took over Jess as she walked down the old staircase. She could see Jack lying on the lounge, looking at the sealing, his face expressionless. Jess silently crept down the stairs deciding to surprise him. She was half way across the room and Jack still hadn’t noticed her presence. She took three more steps before jumping on top of him, managing to land with her legs straddling his hips.

“WHAT THE FUCK?!” Jack yelled as he was brought back to reality. “JESS? What are you doing here?” Jack asked completely shocked, sitting up so Jess was siting in his lap.

“Seeing my boyfriend” She grinned thinking he would get the hint.

“Oh, I don’t think Alex will like you siting on my lap” Jack said uncomfortably as he awkwardly pushed Jess of his lap and moved away from her. Jess rolled her eyes as she moved closer to Jack once again.

“You’re such an idiot.” Jack looked at Jess as if she was crazy while she moved her face closer to his. “I chose you dumb ass” She said as she attached her lips to his in a passionate and well over due kiss. Jack immediately responded dragging Jess back to her original position straddling his hips as he slowly laid down taking Jess with him. Jess was the one who broke the kiss, smiling down at Jack and the goofy grin that was plastered on his face.

“So you chose me?” Jess rolled her eyes getting up off Jack.

“No. I was kidding see ya” She said pretending to walk away. Jack jumped from the lounge and grabbed Jess around the waist, holding her in a tight grip so she couldn’t leave.

“I’m not letting you get away that easily, Now that I have you again, I am never letting go.” He whispered in her ear as he attached his lip to her neck leaving soft kisses. Jess smiled thinking back to the when he first asked her out. He had said the exact same thing, but this time she knew they would last.
