Forgive Me

I Miss Daddy

"Mommy, when is Daddy coming back?"

Elijah asked me at the table during breakfast.

"I'm not sure, baby. Finish your waffles."

He continued eating as I did the same.
He loved Brent so much.
Brent played with him and his cars.
Elijah loved his Hot Wheels.
And to have his dad playing wiht him and his cars probably made his life.
Poor kid...
I feel I forgave him too easily but I couldn't help it.
Seeing his face again..
He cried because of how guilty he felt.
He's the love of my life.
The father to my son.
I can't just kick him to the curb.
I know he did just that to me but I have to handle this like the adult I am.
I live by the motto, 'Forgive and Forget'.
If you don't agree with me tough shit.
This isn't your life. This isn't your story.
It's MINE.

Once we finished eating I put our plates in the sink and slipped on Elijah's shoes.
I grabbed his backpack and strapped him in the backseat of my car.
The whole way to the school he didn't say anything.

"You okay, Eli?"

He looked up from his lap.
He had tears falling down his face.
My heart cracked.
I pulled over and turned the car off getting out and going to his door opening it.

"What's wrong?"
"I miss daddy!" He sobbed.

I pulled him into my arms as he cried.
I can't say no to Brent now...
I let go of him and wiped away his tears.

"Baby, I promise he can come over after you get home from school, okay?"

His face lightened up and he smiled.

"There's my Eli." I smiled and kissed the top of his head.

I shut his door and got back into the driver's seat starting up the car.

I walked Eli to class.
Once we got to the open door I kneeled down in front of Eli.
I held his little hands.

"Be good today, okay?"

He nodded.

"I'll be here when school gets out, okay?"
"Okay, Mommy. Can I go now?" He asked anxiously.

I lightly laughed and nodded letting him run into the busy classroom of talkative children.
I smiled before walking back out to my car.

***********************************

After I got home form picking up Elijah I called Brent.

"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Evermore."
"Oh hey." You could hear him smiling from his voice.
"Do you wanna come over? Elijah won't stop talking about you and begging for you to come play again."
"Yeah, definitely. Be over in ten."
"Okay."

Exactly ten minutes later there was a knock on my door.
I answered it letting him in.

"Elijah!" I yelled.

Elijah came running in.
Once he saw Brent he ran over to him.
Brent picked him up and held him on his side.

"Daddy, can we go play with my cars now?"
"Elijah. What do you say?"
"What?"
"What's the magic word?"
"Oh...Can we please go play now?"

Elijah was so anxious.

"Yes we can." Brent said and put him down.

Eli grabbed his hand dragging him into his room.
I smiled and walked into the livingroom sitting on the couch.
So i'm letting Brent in too easily but I have to keep my baby boy happy.
It's just what a mother does.
It kills me when he's hurt.
♠ ♠ ♠
So I saw some of you thought she let him in too easily.
That's how the story goes.
It gets better.
Trust me.
