The New Queen

“I don’t even know what to do” Anna said. She stared at her six world medals. She was totally mesmorized.
“Just let them go” Alina said. “you can’t leave them in your dorm” Anna sighed. “They’ll be fine in the safe”
“Are you sure? I can stash them in my room, no one will even know” Anna said.
“No Anechka” Alina took the six medals and locked them in the safe, and then she put the safe in another safe and closed it tight. “It will be very safe here—pack up your things so I can drop you off”
“I feel so loved” Alina hugged her eldest daughter.
“I love you so much” Alina said. “My little girl…sixteen years old, when did I get so old? And why am I so lucky?” Anna smiled.
“Well come on, drop me off so I can keep making you proud” Alina pulled Anna’s short little bangs out of her face.
“Let’s go”

Anna was welcomed by bouquets of flowers in her dorm room. “A ton of people left stuff for you…like candy…sorry but you weren’t here”
“No problem” Anna said. “Take it as a welcome to senior gymnastics gift” she said. She put her things down.
“How was being at home?”
“Really, really, nice” she said. “My sister miss me a lot, and my dad came home to see all of us for the first time in a while. It was very lovely”
“I wish I could go home as much as you” Maria said. “What’s your agreement with Evgeny?”
“If I have a good competition, I can go home for every day the competition lasts…so I was gone for worlds for like two weeks—“
“Oh” Maria said. “I like that, I want Evgeny to coach me”
“I want everyone to be coached by Evgeny, but he’s not taking anyone else. He wants to get me to Rio first” Maria smiled.
“I love your relationship with Evgeny. You and Aliya have the best relationships with your coaches”
“Yeah I guess”

“ANNA!!!!” the whole men’s gymnastics team screamed at Anna as she walked in. They all had flowers and more gifts for her. Literally, being world champion was the shit. The only downside was being interviewed all the time, but even that wasn’t terrible.
“Hey guys” Emin Garibov lifted Anna off her feet and spun her around. “Welcome home champ!” he hadn’t seen Anna since he was left off the team due to injury. “Our hero is back” Anna blushed. People had too much faith in her. She liked it when people thought she could win before she was even competing.
“What’s next for the world champ?” Igor asked.
“Scam Cup in March and then Europeans and then hopefully worlds. All of it with my best friend, Maria” she said.
“Be honest, we all know you want a killer sixteenth birthday party” Anna smirked.
“I got three gold medals at worlds. That was a great present” she said.

Anna sat down with a International Gymnastics magazine a few weeks after the world championships. She was so busy with training and school and then becoming famous. Sometimes it was exhausting. But on the other hand she’s been waiting to be interviewed by this specific magazine.
“So how old are you?” the interviewer asked.
“16”
“When you were little could you ever see yourself being a young champion?”
“No, I thought I would be eligible for 2012” she explained. “I thought I would have gone to the Olympics by now”
“What was your favorite part of worlds?”
“Winning the all around, and beating the current Olympic champion” Anna said with a smile. “That’ll be something I remember forever”
“What about events, what’s your favorite event?”
“Floor. I like dancing and smiling” she said with a little chuckle. “I know im not graceful like Komova but I have a style to me and a cheeky smile”
