White Noises

Another nightmare woke me up in the middle of the night and I started sobbing.

I couldn't stop and I tried to be quiet, but I still woke Baylen.

He didn't say anything, just crawled in next to me and rubbed my back to help calm me down.

When I could finally speak again, I fell backwards and sighed. "Sorry."

"It's ok," Baylen whispered.

"I keep waking you up. You need sleep, too."

Baylen laughed. "You didn't wake me up. I was already awake. I couldn't sleep."

I looked at him. "Oh."

He hugged me. "And I don't mind it."

I hugged him back. Is it possible to fall for someone you've just met? I wondered. Because I think I've fallen for Baylen.

Baylen went to go back to his bed. "Wait!"

He turned. "Yeah?"

"Sleep with me? Wait, not like that. Stay with me?"

I covered my face with my hands so he wouldn't see me blush.

"Ok, just lemme get my pillow."
