When We Were Younger

Chapter One

~ Tilly-Mae Peters & Daniel David Flint ~

Tilly-Mae had just moved to Weybridge, Surrey from Ireland. She's been there for a few days but hadn't been out much, until today where she wanted to go and find a park. She pulled on a pair of denim skinny jeans, a band tee and a loose knitted jumper with converse on. She brushed her long, wavy, purple hair and put a beanie on. She said bye to her parents, grabbed her headphones and bag and set off to explore.
She'd walked for about 5 minutes before spotting a park, it was empty. She made her way to the swing and put her headphones in. Tilly wasn't one to really socialize, but she wanted to. Back in Ireland she was a rather odd and awkward girl. She only had one friend, but she had to leave her because of her Dad's new job. She actually wanted to move, she wanted a new start, so she died her hair purple and her confidence started to grow.
She was in her thinking bubble when a ball hit her. "Fucking hell." She turned round and found a boy waving for the ball. "Becareful where you're kicking that ball, right mate?" Tilly shouted while throwing the ball back. She sat back on her swing, facing the bunch of lads playing football. They were an interesting bunch. She realised that only two of them could really play football. The one who asked for the ball back and another one, who had beautiful eyes. She put her headphones back in and listened to the Foo Fighters and started writing in her journal. She kept a journal, she put all her thought and opinions in there. She wrote..
'England, Surrey, Webridge.. I have no idea how I feel about this whole new scenery. Well I live about 5 minutes from a park, and I got hit with a football by a bunch of idiots. They never even apologised, to be honest they should apologise for being absolutely shit at football. One of them interested me though, well his eyes did anyways. They were such a stunning shade.
Anyways, I start a new school tomorrow. Public school, I've heard it's much different from my old school. I can't wait till I've finished Year 11 and college. I want to travel all around the world and meet new people. This year, my confidence will grow. I will make it.'

Tilly was running late for her first day on her new school. She walked through her form room door 10 minutes late, her hair in a messy bun and her uniform a mess.
"Ah, Miss Peters. How nice of you to give us the pleasure of you actually showing up."
"Sorry Miss, I slept in then I couldn't find the room." She said, her Irish accent on show.
"Irish I see.." Tilly when bright red and nodded her head. "Well, since this is your first day I will give you 10 seconds to tidy up your uniform and let you off with a warning."
"Thanks Miss." Tilly fixed her uniform as quickly as she could just as the bell rang. She walked out into the hallway, it was full of kids rushing around and she had no idea where she was going.
"You look like you could use some help." Tilly spun round to be met with the same piercing eyes she saw the day before.
"No thank you."
"Ouch, why not?"
"Considering you hit me with a ball yesterday, I think I have the right to say no." She said while walking, down the corridor looking for her maths class.
"Wait, you're the lass from the park? The fit one wearing a the beanie?"
"I was wearing a beanie, so I guess that's me?" She said as she walked round the corner, finding her maths class. "Ah, found my class. Bye now."
"Wait!" Tilly turned around with a confused look on her face. "Sorry about the whole football thing. I'm Dan by the way." He said with his hand extended.
"I accept your apology, even if it was rather shabby. Tilly-Mae, but you can call me whatever." She shook his hand. "Sorry but I must go, I'll see you around yeah?"
"You sure will Tilly-Mae, your accent interests me." Tilly turned red but she nodded and entered her Maths class. Dan couldn't help but smile and walk to his class.

Lunch was hectic, there was tons of people around and acting like complete idiots. She knew no one, so she grabbed a sandwich and went outside to sit on the grass. She took off her backpack, put it infront of her and placed her sandwhich on there. That was untill someone snatched it up. "Oi, thats mine you arse-." She looked up to find one, Daniel Flint, with a smirk on his lips.
"Sorry love, I wanted to see what you sound like when your angry."
"Sorry I swore, I don't normally, um." She stuttered before feeling her face flush red.
"Hey, it's fine. I swear all the time love, fuck shit twat."
Tilly laughed and took her sandwich back off him and opening it. She took her half and offer the other bit Dan. "Share?"
"Don't mind if I do love." He took the other part of the sandwich and sat next to Tilly. "So tell me about yourself."
"Well, what do you want to know." She turned round to face him and Dan did the same.
"How come you moved here?" He asked, taking another bite of the sandwich.
"My dad got a new job, and it was here. So, here we are." She smiled. Dan couldn't help but notice that when she smiled, two little dimples would appear, causing him to smile too.
"Um, whats with the purple hair?"
"I was waiting for someone to ask me that. It's kind of a long story."
"I've got time love, so proceed."
She shook her head laughing, slightly, but continued. "Well, back in Ireland I was one of those 'keep to yourself' sort of people and I hated it. People would just walk past me and wouldn't even notice me." She looked down to the grass. "No one would talk to me or listen to me. I had one friend, one. Yeah, she was nice but I think she was just friends with me because she felt sorry for me. So I wanted a change." She looked up to find Dan listening contently to her. "So, I dyed my hair purple and tried to build up my confidence." She ran her fingers through her hair. "I mean, I like it but the 'rents don't."
"I think it looks great, really brings out the green in your eyes." Tilly blushed and Dan couldnt help but laugh and pull her into him. "Aw love, you're making me sound gay and creepy."
"So this is who you blew us off for ya' twonk." A lad shouted front behind them. Tilly quickly pulled away from Dan to hide her embarrassment.
"Oh sod off Josh, you've made the girl all embarrassed."
"Wait a sec mate, is this the lass we hit with the football yesterday?"
"Yeah Max, since you're the one the booted it at her, you should probably say sorry."
"Sorry love."
"It's not your fault you suck at football." She winked at him. And the rest of them burst out laughing.
"She's a feisty one, eh mate?" A long haired one commented. "Oh by the way, I'm Chris."
"Tilly-Mae but call me whatever."
"Irish I see, very nice." Said a black haired lad, and he winked at her.
"Yeah, well I'm off to lesson. See you around, yeah?" They nodded and she got up and started walking to lessons.
Saved by the bell.
