Draco Malfoy's Dirty Little Secret
Chapter 26
I know that I should’ve been angry with him, but I couldn’t bring myself to be. I just couldn’t build myself up to be angry at him when I don’t know everything. Sure, the first thought I had after walking out of that house was to march right back in it with a muggle chainsaw and tear him to little, itty, bitty pieces with blood flying everywhere and a look of pure evil on my face as I made everything right for him betraying me, but I decided that since I don’t know the whole story that I would hold off on the chainsaw…for now.
I even wore a smile on my face when I arrived at the Burrow to spend the rest of the holidays with Kam and Ron. I would’ve spent the rest at my own house, but I told Draco to stay away from me. It was what he had wanted in the first place right? Well, he wouldn’t stay away no matter how many times my brother punched him. I know because he started bragging about it. I really didn’t want my brother to beat up my boyfriend –well, ex boyfriend- every single time that they saw each other just because I was on bad terms with him.
“What the bloody hell are you doing here?” Ron asked as I came into his room, where Harry and Kam were also. “I mean, it’s nice to see you, Court.”
I rolled my eyes and plopped myself down on the bed next to him. “Did your mum tell you that I was coming? I wrote her and asked if I could spend the rest of the holidays here. She said yes, so I assumed she told you.”
“She told me,” Kam shrugged.
Harry smirked. “Me too.”
“And you guys didn’t think to tell me even though this is my house?” Ron looked at them in disbelief. “I mean, doesn’t a guy deserve to know when a hot chick is going to be walking through the door instead of letting it be a total surprise?”
“You know technically it’s not your house,” I pointed out and poked him playfully on the arm. “Your parents have more rights to it than you do.”
“Yeah,” Kam giggled. “The only thing you have ownership over is that nasty feet smell that just penetrates this whole room. You don’t sleep with socks on do you, Ronald?”
I then saw something shiny around his neck. I never noticed that he had ever worn jewelry before. “What’s this?” I said, grabbing it and revealing a charm that screamed ‘Sweetheart’ from a chain around his neck. I couldn’t help but laugh. “I see you haven’t broken things off with Lav-Lav then?” I smirked.
“Don’t even say that,” he said, pulling the charm out of my grip. “No matter what I say, she doesn’t believe me. She thinks I’m joking every time I tell her that I want out. All she does is laugh at me and tell me what a ‘Silly Billy’ I am. She’s bloody annoying.”
“Who does it look was right again?” I laughed at him.
Kam laughed as well. “That’s two for Badass Hot Chicks, one for Ron!” she squealed as Harry laughed along with me.
I had totally forgotten about our bet taking system we had before I kind of distanced myself because of Draco…and a lot because of Lavender. I missed it. It was like we were back to the way things were. You know, before Ron knew Lavender existed; before I told Ron that Kamrynn had liked him; before I had fallen in love with Draco. Our sixth year was a bumpy one, but not one that could tear us apart. We were locked in for life. Ron, Kam, and me that is. Harry was just more of a standby at that point.
“I’m going downstairs,” Harry said before we could even object and left in a hurry.
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about,” Ron continued, ignoring Harry’s exit. “Clearly, I would’ve been right far more than once since we stopped hanging out. I would round it out to about seven. You two, as I remember, hadn’t even had one point since we started. So, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say two just because. So, that leaves was with Badass Hot chicks two and Ron seven. Sound fair?”
Kam and I exchanged looks before we crawled across the bed and shoved him off. He landed with a good thud. We both laughed as he got up and vowed that he would have his revenge before running downstairs to calm down his mother’s yelling as to what that loud slam was. It was just Kam and I, so as soon as we were done laughing, she pounced me with questions on how my vacation had gone so far.
“So, did you and Draco make up?” she crooned as she rolled over on her stomach. “I sure hope so because he just makes you so happy. I know that he doesn’t seem like the best guy, but I honestly believe that he’s the best guy for you. So, spill the beans! I want to hear all those juicy details.”
I sighed and sat up so that way I was leaning against the wall that was behind Ron’s bed. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, Kam, but there is no juicy details. The closest thing I can give you is we made it to the bed, but I couldn’t go through with it. I’m such a virgin!” I shrieked and pulled my knees to my chest.
“No, you’re just scared. It’s natural. I’m sure he was as nervous as you were, but then again that’s hard to judge because I’m sure he’s definitely not a-“
“He is,” I said quickly. “He told me that he hasn’t found the right girl to experience it with.”
She smiled broadly. “He has now! I guarantee that you two will be each other’s firsts. Oh gosh, that’s just so romantic. I wish I could be as lucky as you, Court.”
“You mean Blaise isn’t a…?” I trailed off so I wouldn’t have to say virgin again. As we all know, a word said over and over again loses all meaning. It’s terribly annoying.
She shook her head. “We’ve already had that talk. He crumbled over the summer, but he said that if he would’ve met me sooner, he would’ve waited for sure. Blaise is just the sweetest, don’t you think?”
“So,” I smirked. “You’re completely over Ron now, I’m guessing?”
She nodded. “And completely in love with Blaise.”
I was happy for her. I was also happy that we had stirred the conversation from my holiday. I didn’t want to get into how I avoided Draco. My eyes then widened as I realized that because of me, we hadn’t done our extra project. Oh well, we were just going to have to suffer the wrath of Binns, which I was completely sure would be just awful because he’s been building up. I just knew that we would get detention again because of my stupidity.
“Hey,” Ron came into his room. “Harry, Ginny, and I think we should play a game of Quidditch. What do you say? You know what, who cares, you’re coming and I don’t bloody well care what you guys think. We need to practice more for the tournament, which is just a few months away!” he rummaged through his drawers and pulled out a hat, scarf, and three sweaters, which he piled one on top of another.
“We’d be in whether you told us to or not,” Kam said, jumping off the bed. “We’re born ready!”
I laughed and got off the bed with a little tripping from my foot having fallen asleep. “Not all of us, apparently,” Ron laughed at me before chasing me out of the room.
The cold air pressing against my face felt invigorating as I swooped around, trying to dodge Fred’s attempts at stealing the quaffle that I had in my hands. It was Ginny, Kam, and me against Harry, Ron, and Fred. George was keeping score for us. I then threw as hard as I could and scored right past Ron. I blew him a kiss when he cursed at me loudly. It was a lot of fun, and Draco wasn’t on my mind all afternoon. It was great.
I landed on the ground at the end of the game, freezing from the bitter cold as the sun started to set. I started to follow the others down to the house but a hand caught mine. I was expecting it to be Harry with the way he had acted at Slughorn’s party, but I was very surprised to see that it was Fred who was holding me back.
“Fred,” I said, pulling my hand out of his grip.
“Courtney,” he countered, pulling me towards him from around my waist. “You haven’t left my mind since you were here before you left for school. I tried to think of the reason that we broke up, but I can’t think of it. Was there even a reason?”
I looked at him with my mouth gapping open. “Of course there was a reason,” I pulled out of his grip. “You were ready, and I wasn’t. You found happiness with Angelina, and guess what? I was never jealous of her. Fred, we were never meant to be together. We just happened was all.”
He shook his head. “If we weren’t meant to be, then why do I feel the way I did the first time we kissed. I want you, and all of you, Court. I’m willing to wait. I really am this time.”
“That’s only because you’ve already gotten some,” I retorted, backing away. “I’m sorry, but Fred, I don’t want you. I don’t want any part of you. Why can’t we just be friends? We made a mistake-“
“You think we were a mistake?” he asked, catching me by the wrist. “Then how come it felt so right when I kissed you? I think the mistake was mine when I let you go and for something as petty as sex. I have a feeling that we’d be better this time around. We’re both older and more mature.”
“That doesn’t mean we’re meant to be. I just don’t feel that way about you anymore, okay?” I made to pull away but he was stronger than me. He pulled me to him and wrapped his arms around me.
He licked his lips as I opened my mouth to protest once more, but he stopped me right there. “How about this? Tell me how you feel after,” he demanded right before pressing his mouth onto mine.
I even wore a smile on my face when I arrived at the Burrow to spend the rest of the holidays with Kam and Ron. I would’ve spent the rest at my own house, but I told Draco to stay away from me.
