Even Without Words

Kellin

Vic

I was a little nervous as I followed Vic up the stairs to the dining room. His mother would no doubt embarrass him to no end in front of me. I'm probably one of the only boys he's ever brought anywhere NEAR the house. I sat down and Mike sat beside me while the other three worked it out. Vic ended up sitting beside me too so it all worked out.

“Now Victor,” she started and he groaned. “If I hear anything from your room tonight, you’ll be sleeping with your brother instead.”

“God mom!” he complained. “Can you not say things like that when everyone’s around?!”

“You should know me better than that by now my boy,” she said and put food on the table. We all dug in and I probably looked awkward and bright red. Vic squeezed my hand under the table.

“Just take as much as you want and don’t worry about anything,” he whispered to me. I ate a tiny bit of everything but still didn’t eat nearly as much as the rest of them. His mom had the mind not to say anything and was just really nice to me. I was happy that she accepted me, I wondered if his dad would have a problem with me. I couldn’t believe that Vic had such a supportive family. They were amazing and I knew we would probably be spending a lot of time here.

Once we all finished our food, we all decided to sit down and watch a movie. Mike raided the huge collection and pulled out a few options. Rango, Lord of the Rings, Avatar, The Hangover and some other weird movie I’d never heard of before.

“Which one do you want to watch?” Vic asked me and I just shrugged. I didn’t care. Either way, Mike picked Rango and I cuddled up into Vic who was squished between me and Mike.

“Get your bony elbow out of my ribs Mike,” Vic complained and Mike laughed. Their mom brought us popcorn right as the movie started and we passed it around.

Eventually it got late and Tony and Jaime left. I was half falling asleep so Vic and I decided to go to bed. His mom was already asleep so we had to be quiet. I changed in Vic’s bathroom and crawled under his blankets on his bed. I was so tired but I just couldn’t fall asleep. Vic was on the mattress on the floor but I knew he wasn’t asleep either.

“Vic?” I whispered into the darkness.

“Yeah Kells?” He replied.

“Can you come up here?” I asked timidly. “I can’t get to sleep.” Before I could say anything else, Vic was sliding in beside me and wrapping his arms around my waist. I snuggled into him and felt so much better.

“Thank you,” I whispered as I laid my head on his chest.

“Any time Kellin,” He told me. “Goodnight.”

“Night Vicky,” I said and fell asleep.

I woke up a few hours later, shaking, gasping and crying. I didn’t know where I was and I couldn’t calm down. I jumped when two arms wrapped around my shoulders but melted into them when I realised it was just Vic.

“Shhh, It’s okay Kells,” He whispered. “You’re okay. Everything’s okay.” I clung onto him for dear life and slowly calmed down.

“What would I do without you?” I asked with a small smile as Vic wiped away my tears.

“Well, you’ll never have to know,” He smiled and kissed me lightly. “Come on, it’s only four am. Let’s go back to sleep.”

“Okay,” I said and laid back down on top of him. I drifted back off to sleep and Vic managed to keep the nightmares away this time.

We woke up again at about noon together and went down the stairs to see Mike sleeping with his head on the table and Mrs. Fuentes making food. It was kind of funny when she whacked him on the head with a spatula.

“I just cleaned that,” She scolded. “Don’t rub your filthy head on my table.” Vic and I laughed and sat down at the table with him.

“That hurt,” Mike whined. “But when’s dad getting back?”

“Tonight, very late,” their mother said. I wasn’t necessarily looking forward to meeting their dad but I guess it had to happen sometime. I ate a piece of toast that was in a pile on a plate in front us while Vic ate his usual mountain of food.

“So what are you boys doing today?” Mrs. Fuentes asked.

“I was gonna show Kellin around a little,” Vic said and I looked over at him with a huge smile. He laughed at me.

“That’s cute,” She smiled and took away our empty plates before Vic dragged me back to his room by my hand.

“Get changed, I’m going to show you all my favorite places,” He had a huge, giddy grin on his face and he was practically jumping up and down. I kissed him lightly before going into his room and shutting the door. God, my boyfriend is adorable.

I changed into a plain grey shirt and some skinny jeans before stealing one of Vic’s sweaters off his desk chair and slipping on. I don’t have a coat so I figured that this would have to do, and I don’t like making Vic cold. I didn’t expect what I saw when I walked out though.
