Dedication Takes a Lifetime but Dreams Only Last for a Night

Alex POV:

Life is just so great right now. I'm laying on my boyfriends chest, as he plays with my hair and we're watching some random tv show.

It turns out I'm not going to get beaten or possibly killed by Blake. It offended me when I heard my three best friends had a secret and weren't planning on telling me but once I heard what Jack did, how could I get mad. He actually talked to Blake and they're actually on speaking terms! I just couldn't believe it.

I really want to meet the real Blake, the kind sensitive boy Jack talked about, the one that Jack fell in love with, so long ago. I wanted to understand him, maybe even be friends. After Jack told us we worked on some new songs and I felt we were finally a band, we were finally a bonded dramaless, group.

Suddenly my phone rang making me jump out of my thoughts. "Hello?"

"Hi Alex" Ben said.

Jack meanwhile mouthed "Who is it?"

I gave him the one sec sign as I said" Hi Ben! Whats up?"

"So first I wanted to ask how are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling great, I'm out of the hospital and I feel as good as new thanks to you."

"Great. I was so scared that day. Anyway I wanted to ask, how's the band thing going?"

"It's awesome! We've rehearsed some songs and it sounds great. Zack is wicked."

"Are you guys ready for your first gig?"

"What?"

"Yep I'm having a party and I wanted a band so are you guys up for it? "

"Oh my god! Of course we are! I'd have to ask the other dudes but yes! When is it?"

"Awesome. It's in two weeks on Friday at my house. Thanks. You guys are saving my party from extreme music boredom."

"Thank you! Bye."

I hung up the phone and practically squealed at Jack" We have our first gig!"

Jack expressions turned from confusion to ecstatic. "Wow no way!!" He literally stood up and started to bounce around happily me joining him.

After our random dance party I called Rian and Zack and told them the news. They were as happy and excited as we were and we decided to meet at Rians tomorrow after school practice.

The rest of the day went quickly and soon school came. Blake actually smiled and greeted Jack and I.
A kid called us fags and Blake, Blake the bully, told him to shut up. He actually stood up for us. I couldn't believe how things had changed for the better.

After school which was uneventful, we met at Rians and started practicing Head On Collision by New Found Glory when I realized we don't have a name.

"Alex you why'd you stop? We just reached the chorus. " Rian asked.

"We don't have a name."

We all stayed silent for a few minutes until Jack suggested we took our name from song lyrics. We all agreed but soon enough we started fighting about which one.

I really wanted Wide Awake from Futures by Jimmy Eat World. Jack wanted Remember and Smile from Blinks Feeling This. And  Zack and Rian were all for Faith and Misery from Holiday by Green Day.

After arguing for almost half an hour Rian suggested we started to practice again. Jack said "Good idea. We'll decide later. From the all time low right?"

At that second something inside of me clicked.

"That's the name! All Time Low."

"Hmm. I like it!" Jack said. Zack soon agreed. Rian was reluctant and said it wasn't as good as Faith and Misery. But he also said it could work.

"World watch out. All Time Low is here!" I said jokingly and Jack laughed his too loud laugh that made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

The days fell again into a comfortable routine and soon it was the day of the party.

It was my first time singing in front of a audience. I was so nervous. We arrived early to set up.
Soon the party was crowded with people and it was time to preform.

The second I got on stage the fear and anxiousness just disappeared. It felt perfect. I announced our name and started to play dammit by blink 182. Me and Jack joked and I knew he was having just as much fun as I was.

I can't even begin to describe the wonderful feeling of performing, being on stage, singing my heart out. After the first song people started to really cheer.

Someone yelled Alex marry me. Jack was so adorable as he said he's mine and pecked me.
I knew at that moment that this is what i want to do. Forever. After we finished Jack and I just sat outside talking.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Zack and Blake making out. Black exists!

Rian meanwhile was talking to his long going crush Cassedee. Everything was simply perfect.

 And I knew today would be a epic night. It already has been one.
