The Agent's Daughter

I have to go

“Guys…” I heard Nat say. I looked up, to see more of the large creatures, start to come out of the portal. I heard Tony say, “Call it, Captain…” I turned to face Captain. “Okay, alright listen up. Until we can close that portal…our priority is containment. Barton, Maddy, I want you two on that roof…” Steve said, pointing to a roof on our right. “Eyes on everything, call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back, or you turn it to ash…” Stark nodded. “Can you give me a lift?” Clint asked. “What about Madison?” Stark asked. “I got it…” I said. “Banner……” I said, turning to the Hulk. He nodded, “Right. Better clench up, Legolas…” I laughed, for Legolas Greenleaf from Lord of the Rings was my favorite character. I nodded to Banner. He picked me, and I held my breath. The next thing I knew, Banner threw me into the air…

Clint had made up the roof before I did, and I almost missed the roof, but thankfully Clint reached out and grabbed a hold of my arm, and pulled me back up. I landed in his arms. “Are you ready for this?” He asked me, letting go of me, and grabbing his bow from his back. “It’s now or never…” I said, he nodded, and he gave me a smile, and I grabbed my bow, and we began shooting anything that wasn’t of this earth. Just then, a huge line of creatures flew by us. I saw where they were heading. "Megáli̱...tha páme metá Tóni. Téleia…” I muttered. “Maddy……remember, around me. You have to speak English.” I laughed. “Sorry Clint, it’s my native language. I’m used to speaking it, anyways… Great, they’re going after Tony. Perfect.” I repeated, in English. He nodded. “Tony, you got a few strays sniffing your tail…” I repeated into my earpiece, for Tony.

“Just trying to……keep them off the streets…” Tony said. Either it was just me, or did he sound a bit out of breath? “Well……” Clint started to say, as he turned around, as he shot an alien without looking. I smirked. “They bank worth a damn…” He finished. “Find a tight corner…” I added. “I will roger that…” He said. I smirked. Just then, I felt something sharp against my skin; and something hot and sticky start to ooze from my back. I smelt rust, and salt. “Maddy! Duck!” I heard Clint say. I ducked and I saw his arrow whiz where my head just was, and I felt the body of an alien slump over me. “Maddy…?” I heard Clint ask, sounding concerned. “Eímai…err… I mean, I’m fine…” I said.

“Thanks for that, by the way…” I added. He smirked, “Anytime…” Just then, I heard Tony’s voice buzzing back through the ear piece. “Nice call. What else you got?” I answered this time. “Well…Thor’s taking on a squadron on 6th…” I replied. “And he didn’t invite me…” I smirked, as I rolled my eyes, as I continued shooting, I saw a creature start to climb up the wall towards me, I was about to shoot it down, but Clint beat me to it. “Captain, the bank on 42nd street, past Madison. They’ve got civilians trapped in there…” As soon as I heard that, I went to Athena’s channel. “Athi̱ná, boreíte na entopísete Rebecca Madsen, me ti̱n tréchousa thési̱ ti̱s?” I asked her. “Améso̱s, kyría Kárter…” She responded. “sas ef̱charistó̱…” I said, absentmindedly. “I̱ tréchousa thési̱ tou , Mis Rebecca Madsen , eínai i̱ 42i̱ trápeza tou drómou…”

I began to shake. “Eísai sígouros, óti eínai sti̱n Trápeza?” I asked her. “Eímai sígouros 100 tois ekató…” She replied. “O̱, óchi…” I sighed. Clint turned to me. “Maddy, what’s wrong?” “I have to go with Cap to the bank.” I stated. “Why?” He asked, confused. “My…cousin is trapped in the bank, along with the other civilians. Clint…I’m sorry, but I have to go…” I said, sadly. I immediately thought that he would protest against it, but what he did surprised me.

“Cap, Maddy is going to meet you at the bank…” “I’m on it…” I looked to Clint. His eyes were full of sadness, but he had a smile on his face. “Go. With Cap. Go save your cousin. Promise me, you’ll come back to me. Remember what I told you? I almost lost you once, I’m not going to lose you again…” I smiled. “You won’t lose me. I love you.” “I love you too…” He kissed me gently, then I climbed to the edge, and I jumped, wondering if that was the last time I was to see Clint. Ever again
