Where Did the Love Go?
Ch. 1
Have you ever wondered what happened to the love that people share? Have you ever thought about how something so strong, so magical, so wonderful could just disappear. How can people go from loving each other one minute to hating each other the next. How is that possible?
If I knew the answer I would tell you, but the truth is that I have no idea. I have experienced some of the best love that there is to experience. I have experienced the love that is so strong you spend every waking moment thinking about the other person. I have experienced the love that makes you not able to eat or sleep or focus. I have even experienced the kind of love that people share when the first cant stand each other, but they soon realize that they love each other.
I had all those kinds of love with just one man. I was in love with Sidney Crosby. I was head over heels in love with him. I did everything I could to make him happy and did everything I could to show him how much I loved him. I married Sidney Crosby five years ago after we dated for two years before that . So for the last 7 years of my life, I have been in love with the same man. Now I am sitting here waiting to sign the papers that tell me I shouldn’t love him anymore. Today I am getting divorced. When you get divorced you are supposed to tell people that you don’t love your ex anymore. But how is that possible? How is it possible to love someone so much and then you write your name on a piece of paper and all that love disappears. Seven years and two kids later how did the love just disappear?
“ Nicole are you alright?” My lawyer asked me.
“ Oh yeah sorry I’m fine I was just thinking.”
“ Are you ready to sign the papers?”
“ Yes.” was all I could get the strength to say. I am crushed, heartbroken and alone.
I looked around the table and my eyes caught his. There he was Sidney Crosby NHL star sitting across the table waiting for me to sign papers that told the whole world that I wasn’t supposed to love him anymore. He looked at me and I looked at him his beautiful brown eyes staring back at me. I felt my eyes tear and I began to cry. I quickly looked away, got the pen signed the papers and walked out of the room.
I ran as fast as I could to my car. I sat there and started to sob. How did this happen to me? Why did this happen to me? Where did all the love go?

“ Nicole I have never loved someone so much in my entire life. You mean the world to me and I cant picture my life without you. Will you marry me?” Sidney got down on one knee and asked me that
“ Yes Sidney I will marry you.” The tears rolling down my face.
“ I love you so much, and I am never letting you go ever.”
“ I love you too.” and with that we kissed.

What happened to all that love? Where did it go? Did it just disappear?
Was that all a lie? Did he never love me? He promised me he would never let me go, but here I am divorced. He let me go, he stopped loving me. Where did all the love go? I wish I knew but I don’t.
I started my engine and drove home to the house that Sidney and I used to share. I walked into the door my eyes bloodshot from all of my crying.
“ Mommy! Mommy!” My two sons said as they ran up to me. Behind them followed Jordan Staal. I know that Jordan was supposed to be Sidney’s friend, but the two of us had become very close over the past few years, and he was always there when I needed him. He was an amazing person.
“ hi boys. How was school?”
“ It was good mommy, but why are you crying?”
“ I’m not crying I just had a long day.” I looked at Jordan with desperate eyes, I didn’t know what to say to them. They knew that Mommy and Daddy weren’t together anymore, but they didn’t understand why.
Jordan sat down next to me and picked up my son Sidney Jr. He began tickling him like crazy. I looked over at him and mouthed the words ‘thank you’ to him. I then started tickling my other son Brent. The boys were laughing like crazy. They loved to be tickled.
“ Hey boys why don’t we let your mom take a bath while we make dinner for her.” Jordan said picking up Sid Jr. and putting him on his back.
“ Jordan you don’t have to do that. I can make dinner.”
“ No go take a bath. I know it has been a long day.” he said with a comforting smile
“ Are you sure?” I asked
“ Yes go. I promise I wont burn the house down.”
I went upstairs and turned on the faucet . As my hand touched the warm water my mind started to roam.

“ Sidney stop it! You know how much I hate my feet being touched.”
Sidney continued to suck on my toes as the warm water surrounded my body.
“ Sid Stop!” I said trying to sound as serious as possible, but I couldn’t help but laugh.
“ Nope not until you tell me you love me.” He said continuing to tickle my feet.
“ FINE! I love you.” I said looking at him still laughing
“How much do you love me?” he asked still tickling my feet
“ Enough.” I said laughing and giving him a funny look.
“ I’m not going to stop until you say ‘ I love Sidney Crosby he is the best sexiest most amazing husband anyone could ever ask for. And I will never stop loving him’.”
“FINE FINE I love Sidney Crosby he is the best sexiest most amazing husband soon to be father that anyone could ever ask for and I will never stop loving him.”
He stopped tickling my feet and looked at me with a huge smile on his face.
“ Did you just say ‘soon to be father?’.” He asked looking at me with excitement.
“maybe.” I said in a flirty voice
“ You did! You said it are we having a baby!?!” he said beaming with a huge smile on his face. I have never ever seen him so excited.
“ Were having a baby!” I said
“ Were having a baby!!! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!” he said leaning towards me in the tub and giving me like a thousand kisses.
“ wow that’s a lotta love.” I said laughing at him.
“ yeah well that doesn’t even cover the amount of love I have for you.”
“ thanks.”
“ I’m going to be a daddy and your going to be a mommy! As soon as I get out of the tub I am going to call every single person I know and tell them that we are having a BABY!”
“ Oh my god I am having a baby with the person I love most in this world.”

Suddenly I didn’t feel like taking a bath anymore so I took a quick shower and then went downstairs to the kitchen, but they weren’t in there, so I went outside and saw Jordan surprisingly not covered in flower standing over the grill flipping burgers.
“ Hey finished already?” he asked giving me a warm smile.
“ yeah I just took a shower. Do you want me to set the table?” I asked looking at the plates set on the grill.
“No its okay. I thought the boys how to set a table.”
“you did? And they listened?” I asked shocked. My sons never really did anything around the house. And that thought made me laugh.
“ yeah they actually didn’t break anything, well I gave them plastic plates and cups, and I put the silverware on the table.”
“ Wow thanks. I cant believe they actually listened.”
“ Hey boys why don’t you show your mom what you learned today and set the table.”
“Okay Uncle Jordan!” they said and came running over to the grill area. Jordan handed them the plates and the cups and they walked over to the patio table and set the table.
I walked over to the table walking next to Jordan he was carrying the burgers and I was carrying the other stuff.
“ Wow boys I am very proud of you.” I said walking over to them and hugging them both.
“I’m thinking you three deserve ice cream for dessert” Jordan said to us as he set the burgers down on the table.
My two sons started cheering and clapping their hands with excitement. I just smiled and the four of us sat down to dinner.

“ Honey I’m home.” Sidney yelled from inside the house.
“were out here.” I yelled the backyard.
I placed the corn and hotdogs on the patio table and Sid soon came outside.
“ Hey babe.”
“Hey hon how was practice.”
“ rough.” he said with a laugh
“well your home now so that’s all that matters.” I said with a smile.
Our two sons ran over to him and said “ Daddy Daddy Daddy! Guess what mommy taught us today?!”
“What did she teach you?”
“she taught us how to tie our shoes!” they both said with huge smiles on their faces
“ she did? Well I think you the three people I love the most deserve ice cream after dinner then.” he said with a smile. He kissed me and the four of us sat down to dinner.
