Falling for You Was Out of My Control

Letting Him Go His Own Pace

Jessie's POV
“Are you ready?” Evgeni stood at the door with a huge smile plastered on his face and Andrei tightly wrapped in his arms.
“No, not really?” I looked at him hesitatingly.
“He be fine, everyone love him,” Evgeni walked back over to me and wrap his free arm around me before dropping a kiss to my forehead.

I knew he was right about everyone loving him, I mean who couldn't love something so adorable. But I just worried, it was all I did lately. Even though everyone had seen photos and loved every thing we sent them it was different to actually meeting him.

It took Evgeni all morning to get me to go to his game and I still wasn't convinced that it was the best idea just yet.

“Would it help if you hold him?” Evgeni asked as he pulled Andrei out of his car seat.
“Yes it would actually,” I took the little boy who happily cuddled into my chest as the cold hit.
“You worry too much,” he shook his head as he flipped the hood up on Andrei's brown teddy suit.
“It's my job as a mother to worry.”

We continued picking at each other until we were interrupted by a familiar French accent as our favourite happy couple walked towards us, their little girl in the middle holding their hands.

Annabelle broke from their grasp and ran towards us and jumped at Evgeni's legs with a happy squeal, “G!”
“Hey, how my favourite girl?” Evgeni picked her up and she instantly wrapped her arms around his neck.
She smiled widely before getting a glimpse of me and pointed happily, “Jess!”
“Hello,” I walked over to the little girl who was so excited for hockey, dressed a little copy of her dad's jersey.

She looked down at Andrei curiosity getting the better of her and poked his little cheek. He moved and turned away but it only made her giggle more.

“Come on Annabelle that's enough,” Vero warned.
“She's fine, he needs to get used to people,” I smiled softly looking down at the little guy holding onto my jumper so tightly as if his life depended on it.
“Is he going to be shy one?” Vero put her hand on his back and pulled the hood back to get a look at him.
“Yeah I think so,” I kissed his forehead.

He was definitely going to be shy one. Too much going on around him bothered him, which was half the reason I was so worried about tonight. But I guess the sooner he got used to everyone the better off he would be. And maybe being around all these crazy guys would do him some good and he wouldn't be so reserved any more.

I followed Evgeni into the locker room not expecting everyone to be there but there they all were looking back at us with smiling faces.

“Is this the little one?” Pascal got up and walked over in a hurry.
“Yes, but shhh,” Evgeni frowned at him.
“Come on, kids love me,” he put his hand on Andrei's back and peered down at him.

Andrei whimpered and tried to resist Pascal touch, it wasn't familiar and he knew when it was Evgeni or me.
“See not like you,” Evgeni nudged him out of the way and lent down to kiss Andrei's head and soothed him in Russian.
“He's still a little shy with other people,” I explained rubbing my hand up and down Andrei's back.

“The teddy suit is cute,” Sid smiled looking from a distance.
“You can come closer,” I waved him forward, “just quiet.”
“He's so small.”
“Yeah, but he will get bigger, soon” I tucked his hood out the way so everyone can see his face.

“Geno told me about his heart condition,” it seemed like Sid couldn't resist himself and just had to touch the little guy.
Andrei didn't move though, he normally would have flinched away from someone that wasn't us but he seemed perfectly content with the captains hand placed firmly on his back.

Maybe if I just let him go at his own pace. He needed time to meet them and decide whether or not he liked them and maybe it was going to take a few times of seeing them for him to get it but I guess when he was good and ready he would open up to everyone.

So I am still not back in the groove of things just yet and I need a little more desire to write this one, I feel lazy a little bit but I am not going to just start skipping things and ruin it.

Anyways my sister sent me this picture of my nephew Austin at his big brother's football game the other day, so I opted in stealing the adorable image and teddy bear suit for Andrei to wear to hockey games :)
