Fall Away

It’s the most spine-chilling sensation:
waking up and feeling as if someone was watching you.
Feeling a presence behind you,
then turning around and seeing nothing.

I didn’t see him for a long time after we moved into the new house. My parents were sure that it would be a good change for us; a different setting in a completely new town.
I never believed in ghosts but from the very first night I knew something wasn’t normal.
I kept feeling watched as I did everyday things such as shower or homework.
I would find somebody else’s things thrown around the rooms even though I was sure that the house had been unoccupied for years before us.
I would hear somebody singing at night or see a blur of color before darkness again.

It was only after two months of strange occurrences when I saw him sitting on my windowsill.
I stood frozen in terror as he smiled and whispered,
“You don’t know it yet, but you’re in love with me.”
