Unexpected Miracle
Settling in
I stood up not knowing what im going to do next. I had no idea where to start especially she had a note pad with her I walked out of the court room and she was standing there waiting for me. She smiled and waved, I saw her she looked so happy and that made me feel good I walked up to her and signed
“hey ready to go”
she looked surprised
“how do you know sign?”
she asked me
“I had a deaf sister when I was younger I was the only one who learned in my family.so I could talk to her. My parents never acknowledged it so I taught myself.”
I replied she looked happy
“it was destiny.”
She signed to me “
Yeah I guess it is”
she got in the car and bucked up. And we were soon on the road. She gazed out the window curiously. She was just like me, I saw me in her. Warmth filled my chest at the thought of her being mine. It was weird but it felt right. I kept driving until we made it home. I got out of my door and opened hers. She got out I got her bags and we walked inside, toby walked up to me
“how did it go?”
he asked me I rubbed his head
“it went great, did you eat?”
he shook his head no I looked at cadence she stood there near the front door
“you can put your stuff in your new bed room and get settled ill check on you soon”
I signed to her. She nodded and was off. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed lunch meat and bread and made three sandwiches.
“Toby go ahead and eat. Im going to tell cadence lunch is ready”
he nodded and sat at the table I walked into her room. She was hanging up a poster I tapped her shoulder. She turned around
“need any help?”
I asked her. She nodded I grabbed the corners and she taped both of them I let it go and I walked back to observe my handy work. It was all lined up.
“Thank you”
she responded.
“Are you ok I know it’s a lot to take in but not much has changed. Im not moving your school im just a new person in your life that will protect you no matter what.”
She smiled
“yeah im great actually, being in a foster home was so hard and I barley made it through every day, I always someone to love me and little did I know that there was someone out there the whole time that had so much love to give and he was so close. Im glad I found you”
I smiled and hugged her tightly
“im glad you found me. Hey kiddo lunch is ready, want to join us?”
she smiled
“id love to.”
She signed to me we walked out and ate lunch I had an amazing feeling about our future.
