Battle of the Bands

Adventures Outside Of The Green Room

Julie's P.O.V.

I am so embarrassed.

I bet my cheeks are bright pink.

Not cool.

At all.

I mean, I'm totally psyched to be in the presence of some of the band members of My Chemical Romance.

Yeah.

That's totally awesome.

But for them to have heard me sing...

Yeah.

That's totally not awesome.

"So how many bands are on this tour?" Melissa questioned.

"Eight." Mikey answered from behind her.

Now, normally you know which bands are on what tour, but this concert is the premiere show of the tour and the featured bands have been kept a complete secret.

"Who are the bands?" Ryder questioned.

"Uhm, well there is us," Frank began, "Then there is also Simple Plan, Forever The Sickest Kids, The All American Rejects, I Set My Friends On Fire, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, and...who am I forgetting?"

"Tokio Hotel." Gerard answered.

"Oh, right." Frank said as he smiled sheepishly.

I gasped.

Tokio Hotel?!

I. Love. Them.

"Will we get to meet them?" I asked quickly.

"Who?" Mikey questioned.

"Uhh, Tokio Hotel." I answered as I smiled.

Now I am super excited.

All of my favorite bands are together on the same tour and I have the chance to meet all of them.

Nothing could be better than this.

"I don't know about that." Gerard said slowly.

"What? Why?" I asked quickly.

Mikey sighed.

"Tokio Hotel doesn't normally hang out in the green room and you guys aren't exactly allowed to leave." Frank said quietly.

"O-oh." I said quietly as I sighed.

"Sorry, uhm....what's your name?" Mikey asked.

"Oh, right. Well, my name is Julie, this is my best friend Melissa, and that is my older brother Ryder." I said quickly, "And don't worry about the Tokio Hotel thing, I'm psyched to just be standing in the same room as you guys."

On the outside, I pretended like it didn't bother me.

But on the inside, I was crushed.

"So who preforms first?" Ryder questioned.

"Simple Plan." Gerard answered.

Then, as if on cue, When I'm Gone began to play.

We're doing it

I look around me but all I seem to see
Is people going nowhere expecting sympathy
Its like we're going through the motions of a scripted destiny
Tell me, where's our inspiration?
If life won't wait I guess its up to me

Whoa!
No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this town
Whoa!
And we won't come back, the world is calling out
Whoa!
Leave the past in the past, gonna find the future
And misery loves company, well so long
You'll miss me when I'm gone.
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

Procrastination running circles in my head
While you sit there contemplating you're wound up left for dead
Life is what happens while you're busy making your excuses
Another day, another casualty but that won't happen to me

Whoa!
No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this town
Whoa!
And we won't come back, the world is calling out
Whoa!
Leave the past in the past, gonna find the future
And misery loves company, well so long
You'll miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone
Let's go!

Won't look back when I say goodbye
I'm gonna leave this hole behind me, gonna take what's mine tonight
Cause every wasted day becomes a wasted chance
You're gonna wake up feeling sorry cause life won't wait
I guess its up to you

Whoa!
No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this town
Whoa!
And we won't come back, the world is calling out
Whoa!
Leave the past in the past gonna find the future
And misery loves company, well so long
You'll miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

Then they also played Perfect, One Day, and God Must Hate Me.

"Well, that's the end of their set." Mikey said as he stood up from the couch and stretched, "We need to go, we're playing next."

Frank and Gerard also stood up and walked to the door.

"We've got to find Ray and Bob." Gerard said.

"Yeah, I wonder where they went." Mikey added as he and Gerard left the green room.

Frank smiled brightly as he turned to face us when he got to the doorway.

But his smile disappeared when he saw the disappointed look on Melissa's face.

"Don't worry, we'll come back later. I promise." Frank said.

Melissa instantly brightened up again.

Which then made Frank smile again before he turned and left the green room.

"Knock knock?" a voice questioned.

"I wonder who that is." Ryder said as he glanced over at me.

At the moment, the three of us were sitting on the couch.

My Chemical Romance had left us about ten minutes ago, and now we could hear them on stage playing their set starting with Welcome To The Black Parade.

"Ryder, be nice." I silently warned.

"What did I do?" Ryder questioned.

"Shush!" I said quickly.

Ryder was still confused to what he had done wrong.

Melissa was silently laughing at him.

She knew I was teasing him.

"Alright, which one of you is the contest winner?" the voice asked.

I looked up to see the voice belonged to Pete Wentz.

Oh hell yeah!

"That would be me." I said as I raised my hand.

"Alright, cool." Pete said as he grabbed my hand and pulled me up to my feet.

The next thing I knew, he pulled me into a huge hug.

I wasn't expecting it.

But I sure did like it.

"So, let's go." Pete said as he pulled me out of the green room.

I gasped.

"The security guards and MCR told us that we aren't supposed to leave the green room." I said quickly.

Pete smirked, "Don't worry, you're with me. They just say that so that you don't wander off and get into trouble," but then he paused and glanced all around us, "But, just in case I'm wrong, let's keep a low profile, shall we?" he asked.

I smiled.

He was sneaking me out of the green room.

But why?

We continued on down the hall, but I stopped in front of an open dressing room.

Inside, Georg Listing and Tom Kaulits were talking - well, more like whispering.

My jaw dropped open slightly.

Omg.

Its them.

Tokio Hotel.

Its really them.

Well, its half of them.

I don't see Gustav or Bill.

I wonder where they are.

While I am lost in my thoughts, I notice Georg look up and look at me.

He then gets up from the couch he and Tom are sitting on, and he closes the door right in my face.

Well, that was rude.

Pete comes up to me and grabs my wrist, "Here you are. I thought you might have gotten lost or busted. Are you okay?"

No.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I answered as I smiled.

"What happened?" he questioned.

Tokio Hotel slammed the door in my face.

"Oh, I just paused for a second and got lost." I said, which wasn't completely a lie - it just wasn't exactly the detailed truth.

Pete chuckled, "I figured as much." he said as he smiled, "C'mon, we're almost there."

"Okay." I said quietly as he began to pull me down the hallway.

A minute later, he stopped in front of a door that said Fall Out Boy on the front.

Pete opened the door to his band's dressing room.

Inside, Patrick was doing an array of vocal warm ups. Joe was sitting on the couch strumming and tuning a guitar and Andy was twisting a pair of drumsticks in his hands.

But as soon as Pete and I stepped into the room all three heads shot up to look at us.

Patrick smiled, "Are you the one who sang Mama to Frank Iero?" he questioned.

I blushed a light shade of pink and whispered, "Yes."

"Do you know any of our songs?" Joe asked.

Again, I quietly answered yes.

"Will you sing something to us?" Patrick questioned.

I hesitated.

I really didn't want to.

I absolutely hate it when all eyes are on me.

I cannot handle that kind of stress or pressure.

"Please?" Pete questioned.

I sighed and nodded.

I can't believe how easily I always cave.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and began to sing Golden.

How cruel is the golden rule?
When the lives we lived are only golden-plated
And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me
And though I carry karats for everyone to see

And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all the mothers raised their babies
To stay away from me

Tongues on the sockets of electric dreams
Where the sewage of youth drown the spark of my tears
And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me (too heavy for me)
And though I carry karats for everyone to see (everyone to see)

And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all of the mothers raised their babies
To stay away from me
And pray they don't grow up to be me

When I finally finished, its as if the entire band was star struck.

Did I miss something?

I can't possibly be that good.

Can I?

"That...was...amazing!" Patrick cheered as Pete jumped up and down and then hugged me.

Then there was a knock at the door, "Arena security!" a voice boomed.

I gasped as my eyes grew wide.

Oh no.

I am so busted.

Before I knew it, Patrick shoved me into the darkness of the closet in the dressing room and held me close to him while he held his finger to his lips, silently telling me to keep quiet.

Once I was out of sight, Pete opened the door to the security guy, "Hey what's up?" he asked.

"One of the contestant winners left the green room. Security is looking for her and is going to kick her out when they find her. If you find her sneaking around, press the panic button on the wall and I will come to collect her." he said as he grinned, "Well, have a good show guys." he said and then left, closing the door behind him.

Patrick and I emerged from the closet and I ran straight into Pete, "I'm in trouble! No, no. This is so not good. What do I do?!" I said quickly.

"Woah, woah. Slow down and take it easy. We'll get you back to the green room and make it seem like you never left." Pete said, trying to soothe me.
