Cannonball

Grow Up.

"Welcome back, Jenna."
"Thank you, sir. It's good to be back." Her fear was still present in her body, but not as much as it had been the first time she stepped onto the stage. Weeks of Bootcamp had fixed her of her shaking on the outside. She was still shaking on the inside.
"What have you got for us today?"
"Another song I love." She said into the microphone, again gripping the metal like she had before.
"What's that, love?"
"Grow Up, by Paramore."
"Alright then." She sighed, not needing a stool for this song. She'd dance her way around the stage for this one. She liked this song too much.

I told 'em all where ta stick it!
She was so done with them all! They all wanted the same thing from her apparently.
I left town with a dime to my name!
That was the night she decided that she was going to leave for X-Factor auditions and never look back.
Said I'm done with alla my fake friends;
Except her actual friends who'd never done a wrong thing to her.
Self-righteous pawns in a losing game!
The rest didn't mean shit to her. They were the reasons she'd been so fucked up in the first place. Some 'friends' they were.

Got my band-a light that won't go out!
The only problem with what those kids thought they did was that there was a spark in her that said 'don't you ever give up.'
Been burning since the day I was born!
So I'll cry just a little then I'll dry my eyes;

She'd shed tears over then, cried herself to sleep and cried herself to no tears, but it's about time that she stopped crying over them.
'Cause I'm not a little girl no more!

Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind

She had gladly left that town to show them what she's worth.
Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind

Stood in life for so long just to picket!

She'd waited forever just to tell certain people to fuck off.
Something I will never understand!
But now she couldn't figure out why she had waited.
Aren't you tired of always being mad at the world?
He had always been so mad at something everyone did but he did the same thing
Won't you just admit you don't care!?
It's not like she even cared when she thought! She was going to fuck her over anyway!

And lady, I don't want your pity!
She didn't need her. She was a weight to her dreams anyway, an optimistic pessimist
So don't feel sad for me!
I got a love I would die for

No matter what anyone did, she always had her sisters
And a song to sing
Maybe we're both just living out our dreams!

She's the only one who's really on stage

Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind
Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind

We get along; for the most part
Me and reality; the light and the dark

She might have a shitty past, but her future is so bright that it doesn't matter
We live alone; two different worlds!
Me in a fantasy, you in your memories

And while she stands on this stage, dancing and singing, those people are all sitting there, remember the time when
But we get along

We get along!
For the most part!
We get along;
For the most part!
We get along;
For the most part

We get along....
We get along.

They'd have to lay in their beds how they made them.

Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I’m gonna leave you behind
Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I’m gonna leave you behind
Leave you behind

She'd finally left the baggage at home and moved on to bigger and much better things.

Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I’m gonna leave you behind
We grow up and evolve
We grow up.
And evolve.

"This is your fault!"
"My fault!? I'm not the one who was a fucking bitch to her! Look what you've done!"

They'd figured it out.
She was ready to exact her revenge.
Over national television.
