Torn

Chapter Two

I must’ve fell asleep half way through the film because I woke up in my bed, fully clothed, all my clothes from the previous day were still on. I could only assume that Harry had carried me up, I smiled at the thought of him carrying me up to bed. I checked the alarm clock at the side of me, it was 7.05pm. I yawned and sat up. I ran a hand through my hair loosening the tangles when there was a gentle knock on the door,

“Come in,” I sad through another yawn. I heard the door open a bit and a curly head found its way through the crack, he smiled at me and came through the door, closing it gently behind him. He came and sat on the end of my bed,

“Morning sleeping beauty,” he said through a dimply grin, I rolled by eyes at his attempt at flattery. Then there was a silence, it wasn’t a comfortable one either. It sort of grew of us, getting more and more uncomfortable the deeper and longer it got. It had never been like this before, we had never had awkward silences, there had always been some sort of conversation and when there wasn’t it would just be a silence that seemed ok, almost comfortable. I hated how the times had changed, it was so different now,

“Harry,” I said, peeling his eyes away from a poster on my way to try and make the silence less uncomfortable, he looked at me

“Mmm..” He said, urging for me to go on.

“Can I ask you something?” My voice was almost a whisper by now, I was biting my lip as well,

“I already know your question, and it’s answer..” Harry said, he looked me in my eyes, I took my eyes down from a fixed point on my ceiling above me and locked eyes with his, I took a deep breath,

“What happened Harry,” I said. Instantly I saw the sadness fill his eyes, he sighed. There was a short pause before he responded,

“Life,” I kept my eyes locked with his as I saw a glimpse of my old best friend once more, I saw the same eyes of the curly-haired boy that helped me those 10 years ago. The eyes of my knight in shining armour, the eyes of the old Harry. The Harry before X-Factor, before One Direction.

I was happy for him, he was living his dream, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t want the old Harry back, did it?

Before I could think on and probably make myself depresses my phone began to ring. The caller ID said ‘Zayn<3’. I had no idea how I got Zayn’s number, he probably did it when I was asleep, I answered the call,

“Hey Nik, is Harry there?” Zayn asked, sounding drunk.

“Yeah, he’s here, are you drunk?” I asked him, Harry picked up on this and gave me a regretful look,

“Where are they?” Harry mouthed to me, I stuck my index finger up at him motioning for him to wait a second,

“Zayn where are you now?” I asked him,

“At the hotel babe,” I mouthed ‘hotel’ at Harry and he nodded his head, beginning to stand up.

“I gotta bet back, we’ll talk later,” Harry said to me as he walked to the door, running a hand through his curls. He seemed stressed now, I hated to see him like that. I nodded to Harry as he smiled an apologetic smile as he left,

“Nik,” Zayn screamed down the phone, I had forgot he was still there,

“Harry’s just left, he’ll be there soon,” I told him, then he hung up on me. Damn Zayn to take my best friend the moment I felt like I was getting him back again. And with that I was all alone again.

An hour had passed before I talked to Harry again. I got the call and answered it immediately, probably seeming a little desperate. When I answered I could hear Zayn’s shouts in the background, he was obviously still drunk, but he could manage to pronunciate words much better now – which I was glad of. Over the phone I could hear the Irish accent of Niall arguing with the deep voice of Liam, it sounded as if they were arguing, over a pancake I think.

“Hey Nik, why don’t you come over?” Harry asked from the other side of the phone, pleading with me. I knew I wouldn’t get out of it as Harry had a way of getting what he wanted, there was no arguing with Harry, plus I was bored,

“Where’s the hotel?” I said confidently, I practically heard him smile as I said this. He gave me the directions to the hotel and told me which room he was in. I packed my handbag with the necessities: my makeup, perfume and my purse then I put my phone in too. By the time I left my house it was already 9.00PM.

I found my way to the hotel relatively easy, when I got there, there were fans there, not just a few though, there were hundreds. I tried to make my way back through the crowd – unsuccessfully. Every time I got ahead, there would be ten screaming girls push me back. I finally pushed my way ahead, with a lot of effort when I was greeted with a security guard. He was a big man, he was wearing all black. It was scary in a way.

“I’m here to see Harry,” I shouted, my voice barely audible over the crowds screaming.

“Aren’t we all hun,” he replied, a sarcastic smile filling his face. It was the first emotion I saw out of him, he seemed expressionless – as did the rest.

Well this was just great, they thought I was just another fangirl. Instead of resisting, I took my phone out of my bag and attempted to text Harry,

“Help! Im stuck outside – N xx” I quickly texted. Within minutes the curtains opened on the balcony and Harry stepped out. Hundreds of flashes instantaneously clicked as the crescendo of screams got louder. I had an almost instant headache due to the flashes as they grew greater. Harry smiled at a few people and gave the occasional wave whilst scouring the crowd for me. I thought about shouting him, but there was no point. In the whole entire crowd, I think I was the only one not shouting his name, well apart from the security guards who just stood there emotionlessly.

After a few minutes of more screaming and flashing, Harry locked eyes with me; he snickered at me through a smile as he took in my uncomfortable position. He did this whilst taking out his phone and dialling a number. A few seconds later the security guard who was stood in front of me answered his phone. He put his phone down then began to speak,

“Miss Nikki?” He asked, I nodded my head, “We’re sorry for this misunderstanding.” He said, his voice low and well pronunciated. He un-hooked the rope and allowed me to walk through before hooking it back up behind me. And with that, I was in.

I was walking along the floor the boys were staying on looking at the letters on the door. I was currently passing room 4F and Harry said he was in room 4L. I made my way along the corridor when there was a bang, followed by a scream and a door was opened. Out this door ran a naked, dripping Louis. His hair was soaking wet and he was completely naked. Following him was Zayn, running after him with Louis’ towel in one hand and a carrot in the other,

“Look Louis, I have a carrot!” Zayn shouted, in one motion Zayn took a bite out of the carrot, “will you marry me now,” Zayn said, flirtatiously, if we hadn’t met before I would have thought different of Zayn. Zayn continued to run, he ran into the room Louis had just entered across the hall and banged the door behind him.

Automatically, I pulled my hand over my face to stop me seeing anything that may leave me scarred for life. I was scared to open my eyes, even though I knew it had already happened and I was too late to close my eyes. Slowly, I peeled my fingers away from my face slowly checking the coast was clear. It was – almost. I opened my eyes fully to see a very amused Harry leaning against a doorframe about six doors down.

“How do you live with this?” I asked as Harry pulled me into a hug,

“Oh, you get used to it.” He retorted,

“Of course,” I muttered to myself under my breath. Harry heard this and chuckled to himself. I pulled away from the hug and he put his arm around me as we walked into his room.

“So, security huh,”

“Yeah, they’re great,” I replied sarcastically, sarcasm covering my face. He found this funny and shook his head, I don’t know why, I’ve never been funny. We sat down on his bed facing each other, his legs outstretched, mine crossed. I suddenly felt slightly embarrassed, Harry’s room was pristine, not a single speckle on the floor. Harry saw me looking around and picked up on my wavelength.
“We’re tidying your room tomorrow, don’t you worry,” he said, I gave his a death glare but he shrugged it off. I’ve always loved how we could do that, know what the other one was on about without actually saying it. I guess it was one of our many ‘things’.

“So, shall we carry on where we left off? I mean its only right we do it today, it is ten years since we met,” He said. As he said the final bit I looked up at him. He remembered! I couldn’t believe it. Today was getting better and better. So, whilst we had the time, we began were we left off.
