Black Winter.

The blood is spilled and the cut is deep

Anastasyia; One Week Later

“Sorry about Agent Romanoff, “ Agent Barton says as he walks into the sick bay after Agent Romanoff nearly broke my arm. “She can be a tad bit paranoid when it comes to her fellow Black Widows.”

“I can’t say I blame her,” I tell him, “we’re trained by the best; we can be as deceiving as the spider itself. It’s one of the reasons why I wanted out; I couldn’t trust anyone there.”

“What do you know about Red Dawn and Black Winter?” He asks, “I know every time someone brings them up, you talk in circles.”

“I don’t know much, none of us really do.” I reply, beginning to explain what I do know, “Ivan only spoke of their background and why they were picked over us.

“Red Dawn’s family is filled with spies and special force training. The men were in the Spetsnaz and the women were spies; femme fatales.” I inform him, “Ivan thought she would have made the perfect soldier; she was apparently ruthless and was a killing machine.”

“What about Black Winter?” He asks, “what made her so special?”

“Her mother was a former Black Widow, her father worked for Russia as a covert spy. Ivan would say that she was the perfect mixture of her parents. Father’s ruthlessness and her mother’s beauty and persuasive nature.”

Agent Barton looks at me with questioning eyes, “what about you?” He asks, “why did you get mixed into this mess?”

“Ivan and my fellow Widows are the only family I know.” I reply, “father left before I was born and mother left me on the front step of an orphanage. Ivan was the only one that showed me any love.”

“Then why leave? Why turn your back on the only person that showed you love?”

“Because that love was toxic; poison to me.” I reply. “Just because someone shows you love and attention doesn’t mean it’s always healthy. That kind of love is for children; brainwashed to know no better, no difference.”

“So you found someone else, is that right?” He asks, a smirk appearing on his lips.

“Isn’t there always someone else, Agent Barton?” I smirk back, “I’ve got to make sure I’m safe first before I go to him. I don’t want him to get hurt, you know?”

“I know exactly what that’s like.” He mutters softly. “The doctor should be back in soon. I’ll meet you downstairs and take you back to the tower.” I just simply nod before the agent disappears; closing the door behind him.

Agent Clint Barton

“Is she ok?” James asks the moment I walk into the lobby. Since her arrival, James took it upon himself to be Anastaysia’s guardian. He told me he was drawn to her for some reason.

“She’s fine.” I reply, “why would you think something would be wrong?”

“The look on your face.” He replies, “you looked worried about something.”

“Well I’m not worried about her, she’s a Black Widow.” I assure and remind him, “I’m more worried about the information she gave me about Red Dawn and Black Winter.”

“You got her to spill some intel?” He asks, “how? She wouldn’t talk to me or anyone else.”

“Trust maybe.” I shrug, “but the girls we’re dealing with aren’t your average Black Widows; these girls come from families with a history of special training.”

“What kind of history?”

“Red Dawn’s family has a long line of men involved in Spetsnaz and the women are former spies.” I reply, earning a groan from James. “Black Winter is the daughter of a former Black Widow and a Russian Covert Spy.”

James’ face goes completely white. His eyes widen with horror as if he’s piecing the puzzle pieces together.

“Nat doesn’t know about this right?” He asks, frantically. “You didn’t tell her right?”

“You were the first person I told.” I reply, “I was hoping you’d piece together the puzzle.”

“I think I know who we’re dealing with…” James chokes before running off; ignoring my calls..

James

“Natasha, pick up the phone!” I mutter angrily as I call Natasha on my way to SHIELD’s HQ. This is the third time I try calling her with no answer. “DAMMIT!” I shout before throwing the phone onto the seat next to me as I continue to speed towards base. If I’m right, I know exactly who we’re dealing with and Natasha isn’t going to like it.

**

“James, what the hell?” Natasha asks as I pull her out of a meeting with Fury and Hill.

“Anna told Clint something about Red Dawn and Black Winter,” I inform her, “you’re not going to like what she said about Black Winter…”

“What did she say?”

“Her mother was a former Black Widow and her father was a covert Russian spy…”

Her eyes widen, “you mean Black Winter could be our daughter?”

“This is the second time this has come up,” I reply, “I don’t think Ivan is lying anymore.”

“He really did find her and now she’s using her against us.” Natasha sighs.

“Our daughter is Black Winter, Nat.” I sigh, running my fingers through my hair. “Our own daughter is being used against us.”

“And if she’s anything like us, she’s not going to go down without a fight….”
