Clarity

feelings, running track and fan girls

I sat on the couch beside my best mates Liam and Niall. Zayn and Louis went home to see each of their families in their respective hometowns while I was here chilling with the other two fifths of our group, my new best mates/band mates. We were each a part of the up and coming boy band One Direction. A few months ago after placing third on The X Factor UK, that was when we knew we were going to make it big in the music industry. Simon was sure right on the money with that.

Liam looks over at me before he opened his mouth, “How did you meet her, Haz?” he asks looking at me with a smile. I smile at the thought of her, wondering what she was doing in this moment. School, probably.

“Yeah, Harry, tell us! How’d ya meet this lovely lass?” Niall questions in his Irish accent. I let out a small chuckle and smile as I think of her, Brooklyn, with her piercing blue eyes and blonde hair that went to the middle of her back.

“I met her at the party Gemma was throwing a few weeks back. We hit it off and talked the rest of the night and even snuck a few drinks of beer. It was mostly packed with a ton of Gem’s friends from Uni. Brooklyn just so happened to come with her sister, who is best friends with Gemma, I think. If you lads were there, I could’ve introduced you,” I tell them with a smile.

“Sounds like you fancy her already mate! Ya have any pictures of her?” Niall asks looking at me, a hint of a smile on his face.

I nod in response before pulling out my phone so I could show them a few pictures I got of her. I go to my camera roll where the pictures were. A smile plays on my lips as I begin to find one to show them. I tap on the first one I saw, she was smiling wide at the camera. I had taken the picture from the night we first met.

I stare at the screen with her picture for a few minutes, the smile never leaving my lips. After a few minutes, I turn my screen around so I could show them. Niall takes my phone in his hand so he and Liam can look at it.

“She’s quite somethin’, Haz. She have any friends?” Liam asks, smiling.

I shrug my shoulders and laugh at his comment. They ask me a bunch of random things about her and I tell them a few things. Ever since the night I met her at the party of Gemma’s, we’ve texted every day and talk to each other super late. We’ve even got together to hang out a time or two. I guess you could say I was beginning to fancy her. If I wasn’t interested, I don’t think I would be wasting my time talking to her.

We have a lot of things in common, I learned, which is one of the reasons why I’m so drawn to her. As soon as Niall hands me my phone back, my phone chimes. I had a new text. Looking at the screen, I notice she had texted me back from the text I sent to her earlier. I had texted her earlier asking if she wanted to hang out later.

“Looks like someone got a text, awe Harry’s in loooove,” Liam muttered, a smile on his face as he looked at me.

“Shut up Liam,” I tell him with a slight laugh and push the older boy in the arm. “I am not, I actually do fancy her a bit, I want to wait a bit and tell her, I don’t want to rush into this,” I tell him.

“So, when do we get to meet her?” Niall asks, looking at me, a smile on his face.

“You lot along with Louie and Zayn will get to meet her soon, when the time is right, mate,” I tell him simply and smile a bit.

“Fair enough,”

Going to my messages, I tap on my conversation with her so I could read it. Her message was a bit long not that I minded at all. A smile makes its way to my face as I begin to read it. I’d love to, but I have track practice after school at 4 until like 6:30 tonight. We could do something after if you still want to? (:

I begin to reply back to her a few minutes after I finish reading her message. My eyes shift up to the top of the screen of my iPhone so I could check the time; it was a quarter to three. I could come to you; I’d love to see you run. Maybe after we could grab a bite? See you around 4? ;)

I had just arrived at the school Brooklyn had given me directions to. It was a few minutes after four o’clock. After parking the Range Rover in an open spot in the car lot, I pull the keys from the ignition and get out. I get out of the car and step onto the pavement. Pulling out my beanie and slipping it over my curls to try and somewhat disguise myself from the crazy paps I’ve learned to know lurk around every corner.

I pull my hood up and place my dark shades over my eyes before locking up the car and beginning to make my way toward the field. After a few minutes, I pull out my phone and decide to shoot Brooklyn a quick text, telling her I was here. I was in luck I haven’t seen any movement close by of me being spotted by the lunatic paparazzi snapping pictures left and right.

I am pulled from my thoughts when I hear my phone chime. A smile makes its way to my face as I see a message from Brooklyn. I unlock my phone so I could read the message from her, the smile on my face growing a bit wider. Hey! I’m in the locker room so I can change for practice. I’ll meet you by the bleachers in ten? (:

I hurry my way to the football field where the bleachers were so I could watch for her after I send her a quick reply of a smiley face and a ‘see you soon’. I was surprised I hadn’t been spotted yet, I really was. It takes me a few minutes but I soon make it to the bleachers and take a spot near the bottom. For the next few minutes, I stare off into space, my mind drifting off to a million thoughts of Brooklyn, her smile engrained in my every thought.

About five minutes later, I look up to see her standing there in front of me. A smile overtakes my face as I stand up and hug her. “Hey Harry! You made it!” she smiles and pulls away from the hug.

“Sure did, love,” I grin at her. She looked adorable in her shorts and tank top. It definitely showed off her figure and her legs. Her long blonde hair was pulled up resting on top of her head. There was soon the loud sound of a whistle going off, her track coach.

“Brooklyn, can you get down here, please so we can start?!” an older woman yelled glaring at Brooklyn and I who stood there.

“Gotta go, see you after, Harry, meet you in the parking lot?” she asks in a rushed tone as she runs down the ramp to the track.

I smile and give her two thumbs up as a ‘yes’ before taking my seat again. I pull my hood back up to cover my hair and positioned my shades over my eyes once more to keep myself as in disguise as I possibly could. I let out a small sigh of relief that no one had suspected anything, me, a new up and coming guy in a boy band that was sure to blow up the charts pretty soon once our first single drops.

I was really surprised I could actually get out for once and not have people chasing after me. It felt nice, I felt like myself, the average lad that grew up in Cheshire, and worked in a bakery, not the pop star I was becoming alongside the other chaps I called my band mates and new best friends.

I turn my eyes to the track in front of me where she, Brooklyn, was running alongside a few others, passing them fast. She could definitely run, that’s for sure. Maybe, if I have time, I could ask her to run with me sometime. It would be nice, plus a chance for us to talk more. For the next five minutes or so, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by her and her great ability to run. I feel my lips curve up into a smile as she comes upon the curve and spots me. I wave to her, as she smiled at me for a few minutes before shifting her eyes back to the track in front of her.

I soon hear some whispering behind me. I turn slightly to see two girls sitting close together whispering things to each other. They had to be fans by how they were acting along with their nonstop chatter. I smile a bit and turn so I was facing the track again. As I try to get focused back on watching Brooklyn and the others running along with my new gorgeous friend, I feel a light tap on my shoulder.

I turn to see one of those girls sitting a little ways away from me, dark eyes and black hair. “H-hi there love, you a fan?” I ask with precaution and brace myself for what I knew was coming next. Some of these fan girls I’ve come to learn are crazy and yell anything and everything that comes to mind. Part of being famous, I guess. I liked the attention, though.

The girl smiles a bit nods her head slightly. I smile and reach for what she was holding out for me. It was a picture of the guys and I that she must have printed out somewhere. “What’s your name, love?” I ask her, a small smile on my lips.

“Um, C-Cassie,” she mutters with a smile. She hands me a Sharpie and I scribble a little note on there and sign it with my name. “I-I’m a huge fan, my friend and I watched you and the guys every week on the X Factor! You lot are going to make it huge, all of us UK fans love you guys!” she had a thick accent like mine.

“It’s nice to meet you, Cassie. And thank you, it means a lot to us, I’ll let each one of them know. Who’s your friend? Come on down, love, I don’t bite,” I call out for the other girl who sat a few rows above from where I was. I smile a bit as I wait for a response from her. She doesn’t move for a minute or two before she slowly begins to make her way down to where her friend, Cassie, was.

“What’s your name, love? Come on, you aren’t scared, are you?” I hold my hand out to the girl. She was smiling nervously and takes hold of it, the smile widening on her face. “Alyson,” she mutters with a smile.

“You two are huge fans, yeah?” I ask, smiling as I look at each of the girls. They both nod their heads in a fast motion. I motion each of the girls forward to give them a hug. After bidding them goodbye, my phone chimes, signaling a new text message.

I pull out my phone to check who the message was from. It was from Liam. After I unlock my phone, I go to my messages so I could read the full thing since it got cut off on the home screen. It read: Hey mate! How’s it going with your new girlfriend? ;) hope you’re not having too much fun. See u when u get back to the flat later, Haz, to fill us in. Niall was curious and told me to txt you

I roll my eyes at the fact he called her my girlfriend. I told him earlier, we were just friends, and that I fancied her but want to wait a bit to tell her. They always bug me with stuff like that, but I have things in mind to do to them, especially Liam. There’s always spoons, which the other lads and I have a joke about quite a lot. It’s fun to tease him about it.

I decide to not text him back right away. As I glance back up to the track, I notice things were slowly winding down and that they were finishing up. Checking the time on my phone, I notice it was ten till half six. I am soon staring at the beautiful girl in front of me, who is smiling back at me.

“Meet you in the parking lot, Harry! Need to change real quick and I’ll be right out!” she calls out to me, a smile never leaving her face.

“Alright, babe, I’ll be waiting!” I reply back and stand up, stretching my legs from sitting there for so long.

Have to admit, I wasn’t use to it being still for so long. Since I’ve been performing with the lads at various places since we placed third, we’ve barely have had the time to breathe. Today was one of our days off we haven’t had since the show ended with prep for the live X Factor summer tour and a bunch of other things. It was nice, I had to admit.

I tighten my jacket around me and fix the beanie on my head. My phone was in its rightful place in my deep jacket pocket. Everything else was there, my keys, everything. I was set to head for the parking lot so I could wait for Brooklyn. I was more than ready to get out of here. Food was calling my name, I was starving. God, I was definitely starting to sound like Niall from spending most of my time with him nowadays.

I soon make it to the Range Rover and climb in to take my seat on the driver’s side. To pass the time, I decide to check twitter to see what was on everyone’s minds. There didn’t seem to be anything interesting, until I came across a tweet from Niall.

Liam and I really hope @Harry_Styles is havin’ fun with his bird…she knows who she is ;)

I was just about to tweet him back when I got a new text from Brooklyn. After tapping on her message, I begin to read it. Just finished up! I don’t know if I can walk any further, legs are tired. Hope you don’t mind driving over here to where I’m at by the stadium; I’ll be waiting by the curb. (:

Not a problem at all, babe. Be right there. ;) after I send the message, I set my phone in the console in one of the empty cup holders and start up the car and buckling my seat belt into place. Once it started up, I made my way to where I was meeting up with her. I pull up and spot her sitting there on the concrete just as she said. I honk the horn to get her attention.

She looks up and smiles before getting up and swinging her bag over her shoulder. I unlock the car so she could get in. She tosses her bag in the back and buckles up after shutting the door.

"Harry, you don't mind stopping somewhere to eat, do ya? I'm starving," she asks looking at me, the smile on her face as she looks at me. I shake my head and smile a bit and turn my gaze back to the road so I could drive.
