Do You Fear Me?

“We have a game tonight, if you wanna come.” Stiles grinned over at me.
“Uh-nah…” I shook my head. His smile turned down and he pouted at me. “There’s a game on tonight.”
“Game?” Scott asked from the back of the jeep.
“San Jose Sharks…hockey game.” I continued when both gave me a strange look.
“Oh, well…I can’t drive you home today, kid.” Stiles said, getting out. “Sorry.
“It’s fine. I’ll just walk.” I pulled my backpack on and helped Scott out.
“I’d rather you didn’t.” Stiles said. “That guy still got away.”
“Stiles, I’ll be fine-”
“I’ll walk her home today, Stiles. It’ll be okay.” I turned.
The man looked huge. But it was thanks to my small size. He had a broad chest and looked like he worked out too much for his own good. His face looked calm, but there was something that was obviously hidden from the rest of the world.
“Rosie…this is Derek Hale.”
“Hi...” I waved at him.
“Hi, Rosie. Would you mind if I talked to your brother for a second?”
“N-no…I should get to class. I’ll see you later, Stiles. Thank you, Derek.” I walked off quickly to my first class.

Isaac
I walked quickly towards Derek, Scott, and Stiles.
“What’s goin’ on?”
“I’m telling Rosie today.”
“What!?” “You can’t tell her!” Both Scott and Stiles yelled at Derek.
“Derek, you can’t just tell her. She won’t believe you and you’ll hurt her.” I said.
“I think I know what I’m doing. Unlike you three. She’ll be fine.”
“Can you at least let us find this guy before you go a ruin her life?” Stiles asked.
“You found him and he almost killed her and Isaac. I think it’s time she knew.”
“Derek, she hasn’t known me for more than a month. I want nothing more than a sister who doesn’t know about my best friend being a werewolf and trying to stop some batshit demon wolf.” Stiles looked like he was close to tears. “I just want a normal little sister, like my dad. That’s all I ask you. Give me some time of a normal sister before you go and fuck it up with your werewolf shit.”
Derek looked at Stiles, than at me.
“One of you tells her in the next two months or I will. Got it?” We all nodded. “I will walk her home tonight. I don’t want her getting attacked.”
“She’ll be outside the school at two-thirty.” Derek nodded and walked off.
“This is dangerous, Stiles. We already have Deucalion to deal with.”
“That is my little sister, Scott, I will do anything to protect her.”
“You’ve known her for a week.”
“I don’t give a shit. You would do the same thing if she were your little sister.” Scott looked up, at me.
“I’ve been protecting her since the day I met her.”
“I know.”
The bell rung.
“Let’s go.” Scott pulled Stiles on.

Rosemary
“I promise I’ll get home fine, Stiles. I’ll call you when I get home.”
“What if I’m playing?”
‘Then it’ll be on your phone when you get back. Derek’s waiting for me.”
“Alright…I love you, kid.”
“Love you too, Stiles.” I slipped my phone into my pocket and walked up to Derek.
“Hey.”
“Thanks, by the way.” I muttered.
“No problem. I’m sorry we haven’t met before.” Derek and I began walking.
“To be honest, I thought Scott was Stiles’s only friend.”
“Well…we’re not exactly friends. Just…” He nodded his head, trying to find the word. I smiled.
“I understand. I had a lot of those at my old school. Girls are hard to get on with when they’re critical.” He smiled back.
“I understand as well.” I glanced down at the sidewalk. “Rosie, if you don’t mind, I hope that I didn’t scare you. At first.”
“No. I didn’t know you were standing there.”
“No one ever hears me. I should work on it.”
“Might scare less people.” He smiled. We went quiet for a bit. Until we turned onto my street.
“I was wondering if you’d tell me about your parents’ murder.”
“My brother and sister were killed too.”
“I’m sorry to hear.”
“Thank you…I remember too much of it, really.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because I remember it all. From the crash of the backdoor…” I swallowed hard. “To screaming when they were gone.”
“I’m sorry…” Derek licked his lips. He looked down but back at me. “That must be vivid.”
“It is.”
“Would you mind telling me?”
“Well...

I woke with a jolt. There was a loud crash from our back, sliding, glass door. I scurried up and with a lonesome glance to the living room, I ran into my mother’s room.
“Mom! Someone broke it!” I whispered harshly.
“It’s okay, honey, we heard it. Go get your sister.” Dad was already up and had his rifle in his hands. I rushed to Macy’s room, a loud roar ripped through the night. I screamed and George came barreling from his room.
“Mom’s room!
Now, Rosie!” I grabbed Macy’s hand and pulled her after me, only to be shoved back in by Dad. The door slammed shut in our faces.
Macy gripped my neck, and for being only twelve, she had a strong grip. I whispered in her ear.
“It’ll be okay…”
I lied.
More gruesome and rage filled roars erupted through the night and a shot from the barrel of a shotgun went off. I got up, bracing myself to run to Mom’s room.
Dad!” I screamed again, throwing open Macy’s door and running into Mom’s room.
“Here! Go!” Mom shoved my shark in my hands and shoved me into the closet. As I hit the back wall, she let out a shrill scream and the monster dug it’s nails into her shoulder as it ripped her face away from her skull. I bit into the shark.
George screamed and shot at its back. It let out a painful cry but turned around and slammed my brother into the wall.
Why hadn’t my mother shoved Macy with me?
George screamed again, this time a profanity at the monster.
He screamed once more, his arm ripped from his body. I wanted to scream, but I bit harder into my shark.
My eyes shot over to my sister, stupidly trying run from it. But it caught her waist and opened its mouth wide, to bite into her neck. Her head snapped from her body.
I felt my stomach lurch and I locked my jaw on the stuffed animal.
But it turned to me. My eyes widened. His eyes glowed bloody red and his growls, like his roars, were nothing human but almost wolf like.
“That’s enough, Evander.”
“I hear something…smell something.”
“The cops are coming.” I let shivers rack my body as he stared at me. “
Now!” Both looked towards me but took off running.
I waited.
Waited ten minutes, and then let out a shrill scream as I heard police sirens.

Derek wrapped his arms around me.
“It was my fault, I screamed first!”
“It’s not your fault, Rosie, they would have killed them anyway. You just made it quicker.” I cried harder into Derek’s chest. “You need to get home.”
“I’m so scared of being alone. They came back for me once, what says they won’t do it again?”
“I’m not gonna leave you at home alone. I hear there’s a game on tonight. I hear that Chicago’s doing pretty well.”
“Chicago’s a bunch of bitches…except Patrick Kane…and Jonathan Toews…and Patrick Sharp.” I whimpered.
“Then let’s go watch ‘em.” Derek took the keys from me and unlocked the door.
Quickly, I went to my room, dropping my bag and pulling my Sharks jersey off my bed and over my head.
“Do you have homework?” I heard from downstairs.
“What’re you, my father!?” I called down. He chuckled.
“It’s always smart to get it done.” I picked up my books, already stacked on my dresser, and carried them downstairs. I set them on the dining room table and looked up.
“Are you any good at math?”
“I’m alright.”
“Let me call Stiles. And then you will help me with my math homework.” I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed my brother. It rang, but eventually got to voicemail.
“I made it home. Good luck tonight.” I hung up and looked at Derek.
“He’s playing.”
“He’ll get it later.” I shrugged, sitting at the table, across from him.
“Algebra…how the world hates algebra.” I smiled and opened the book.
Nearly two hours later, I was done with my homework and had eaten a form of dinner. I went into the living room and fell on the couch beside Derek.
“Thank you, Derek.”
“You’re welcome.” I curled up, pulling on my Stalberg jersey sleeves.
“Rosie, I have a story like yours too.” I looked at Derek. “It’s…it’s different from yours but I have a story like that too.”
“Will you tell me?”
“Later…I promise.” I moved closer to him and he put his arm over me.

I woke up in my bed.
The lights were out but there was a note on my nightstand. I picked it up quickly.

Rosie,
You fell asleep before the third period. I hate to tell you the Sharks lost but they did and Kane scored the final goal. Stiles got home in the middle of the third period and he took you to your room. I promise I will tell you my story soon.
-Derek

I wiped my forehead, it was covered in sweat, and set the paper down.
Well, the Sharks lost, but I felt better. I told someone what happened. A weight was gone from my shoulders. But it’s also sometime in the morning. I glanced over at my clock.
It was two in the morning.
I slipped out of bed and curled up at the window seat. Though I had a few more hours until I really needed to be up, I couldn’t help but be so awake. I just hope it doesn’t affect me tomorrow at school.

I rubbed my eyes and fell in place.
“Tired, Rosie?” I glanced at Scott. He was trying to hide a smirk but was failing.
“Terrible sleep last night…I woke up at two and never went back to sleep. I got back to sleep during math.”
“Did Craner yell at you?”
“No. Because Derek did my homework last night, she let me off.”
“He did what?”
“My homework…”
“Lucky.”
“Sure. My Sharks lost and how did the game go?”
“We lost.”
“Sorry.” I shrugged. “Kind of.”
“Thanks.” Stiles rolled his head sarcastically. I smiled. Our conversation continued on, but I glanced back at Isaac.
He laughed at something a girl beside him said, but turned around to look at me. A smirk graced his lips. I turned back and looked at Allison. She gave me a knowing smile but the bell rang before she could say anything.
I jumped up, gathered my binder, and quickly darted off.

Isaac
“Excuse me,” I brushed off the girl, Connie or something like that, and chased after Rosie. She turned down the hall, towards the gym and I ran faster around the corner.
“Rosie-!” She turned around and slammed into me. I grabbed her arms and she yelped.
“Christ, Isaac!”
“Sorry…” I let her go, her stepping back.
“I have to get to class Isaac.” Rosie turned towards the gym but I caught her arm, pulling her back.
“You ever skipped?” Her eyes widened at my words.
“S-skipped?”
“Yea.”
“Isaac, that’s not-”
“Come on, you have a free period next. I’ll have you back before it ends.”
“That’s a bad idea, Isaac.” She shook her head as she spoke.
“I promise.”
She sighed. “Isaac, if Stiles found out-”
“Hey.” I cut her off. “Live a little.” She scoffed.
“Yea, I live just fine.”
“Come on, if you don’t have fun today, I’ll never ask you to again.”
“I’d rather you didn’t ask me in the first place.”
“Please, Rosie. Just this once. I’ll show you my place.”
“Isaac, it’s not a good idea.”
“What’s the worst that could happen?”

I pushed the door open and glanced around.
“See, no one here.”
“You live with Derek, Isaac, what if he comes back?”
“It’s not like he’s gonna yell at you. He’d yell at me first.”
“Can we go back?”
“No. Come on.” I took her hand and pulled her after me, closing the door and leading her to the stairs.
“I’ve always wanted to walk on a spiral staircase.” She said, grinning as she stepped onto the metal stairs.
“Wish come true.” I chuckled. She looked back at me before continuing up the stairs. I followed her up and directed her towards my ‘room’.
“It’s not much but it’s a place to sleep at night.” She went and sat on my bed.
I like it. It’s just…you.”
“Me?”
“It’s a good thing.”
“I hope it is.” I dropped my books beside my bed and fell on it. I laid out beside her and looked up.
“What’s your great plan, Mr. Lahey?”
“Uh-this is it.”
“This is a terrible plan.”
“Hey, I thought it was a good idea.” I sat up on my elbow to look at her.
“This is a sucky idea. There’s nothing to do.”
“Uh-I bet there is.” I pulled her backpack off her shoulders and tossed it near my books. I then took her shoulders and pulled her down beside me.
“Are you really that bored?”
“Not enough to go back to gym and explain to her why I was late.”
“She’d love to hear that.” Rosie smiled and rolled on her back.
“Isaac?”
“Yeah?” I rolled my head over to look at her. She was staring up at the ceiling, tracing the sunlight with her finger.
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“I never got to thank you for saving my life.” She turned her head to look at me and dropped her hand.
“I got a kiss.”
“I didn’t get to tell you how grateful I was.”
“I’m sure you’re pretty grateful.” She smiled and giggled a bit.
“I suppose anyone who be…” I cupped her cheek and pulled her to kiss me again. I felt my eyes close and knew hers did as well. Rosie kissed back, making the kiss deeper and she pulled herself closer to me.
My hands moved to her hips and I hoisted her up and set her on my hips, straddling me.
The kiss became more feverish and my hands began to wander, lower under her hips then higher.
The wolf in me woke and I shoved her on her back and rolled on top of her. Her legs locked around my hips and her hands pulled roughly at the hem of my shirt. Taking her own in my hands, I pulled up my shirt until I broke the kiss to throw it behind me.
She gasped as my lips attached to her neck. Her back arched and I could feel the yellow glowing from my eyes. But it didn’t stop me from kissing down her neck, I just made sure to keep my teeth to myself. I reached the v of her collar and couldn’t help but nip at her skin. She moaned out loud.
I raised my lips to hers and kissed her again. She tangled her fingers in the hair on my neck and kissed me back harder.
“Isaac! Can you come down here for a second!?”

p.s. that is far from my real thoughts on the Blackhawks hockey team. I happen to love the entire team a bit more than San Jose, plus my favourite team in the first place is Pittsburgh. ^-^
