Fast Times at Clairemont High

Chapter 1

My eyes flew open and I sat up in my bed. I looked around, a little bit confused as I turned off my alarm and stretched my arms. I grabbed a light blue tank top and black skinny jeans and made my way to the bathroom. There was only a week left until I graduate from college, and I was more than excited. I looked at myself in the mirror while brushing my teeth, and smiled slightly. I had to hurry, I knew Jaime and Tony would be here soon, and before I could even get out of the bathroom I head my little brother, Mike scream from downstairs. ‘’Vic, are you ready yet?’’ ‘’Soon!’’ I said and washed my mouth before making my way out of the bathroom and down the stars, where I found Mike making pancakes. ‘’Aww, that’s cute. You’re making me breakfast!’’ I smiled and rested my hand on his shoulder. ‘’Yes, I did. You should thank me. If it weren’t for me you probably wouldn’t get to eat any breakfast today.’’ I smiled and sat down at the table and yawned. ‘’Thank you, Mike’’ I said and laughed. Mike looked out the window and pointed towards the door, telling me to go open the door for Tony and Jaime. I stood up and walked towards the door, and once the door was open, Jaime ran in and wrapped his arms around me. ‘’Good morning, Vic! Mike texted me and said he made pancakes for us!’’ He ran past me and sat down by the table, practically jumping in the chair. Tony and I looked at each other and laughed. I’ve always wondered where Jaime gets all his energy from, especially so early in the morning.

Once everyone was full and ready to go, we finally made it out the door and started walking to school. It only took about 15 minutes, so we didn’t bother driving, and we also needed the little exercise we got from walking the short way to school. I was spacing out, and I didn’t notice that Jaime tried to get contact with me until he started shaking me. ‘’VIC!’’ I looked at him ‘’Yes! What is it?’’ I was a little bit annoyed by the shaking, but I smiled to let him know I wasn’t mad. He had his thing for overreacting. ‘’I said party. Are you joining?’’ I tilted my head a bit ‘’what party? I haven’t heard anything about a party.’’ He rolled his eyes. ‘’No, because you weren’t listening! Someone from school is throwing a party, and we’re going. You’re coming too.’’ I laughed and shook my head ‘’did you really think I would say no?’’ He flashed me a smile as we kept walking. I looked over at Mike. He was holding a cigarette between his fingers and didn’t say anything. He was more a party person than me, he came home drunk almost every weekend. I still wanted to go, though. I was looking forward to having some fun, and I had this weird feeling that something would happen. I shook the thoughts away and opened the school door and said goodbye to the other guys before heading to my class with Tony.

During that whole class I just stared out the window. I wouldn’t notice when Tony poked my shoulder or tried speaking to me, I just kept staring. ‘’Vic.’’ Tony started pulling my hair to get my attention. I just pushed his hand away, and he smirked. ‘’What is it?’’ I looked at him, obviously annoyed and I didn’t try to hide that I wanted to be left alone. ‘’What’s wrong, man? You’re spacing out all the time and you seem exhausted. It looks like you haven’t slept for a week’’ I stared at him, not knowing what to answer. Nothing was wrong, and I didn’t even know why I was exhausted or spacing out all the time. I just smiled at him and shook my head ‘’It’s nothing. I’m just a little bit tired. I didn’t sleep too well’’ I smiled to cover that I was lying. He seemed to believe me as he looked back at the teacher and kept writing in his book. I laid my gaze back on the skies and sighed. There was nothing really wrong. I guess this in just one of these periods when you get really tired and feel lonely. I couldn’t wait for Friday to come. I was really looking forward to this party and I would go not matter what happened. I needed this to light up my mood a little bit. I sighed again. Only 4 days left.

The boys were planning on taking me out to light up my mood. They really needed to learn how to keep their voices down, because I heard them all the way up to my room. I were sitting on my bed and playing guitar when I heard them talking about taking me to a restaurant. I shook my head and laughed. I loved food, but really? Restaurant? I wasn’t complaining though, I actually liked the idea. I put down my guitar, right when Mike came through the door. ‘’Get your stuff, we’re going out!’’ I thought I should hide that I had been listening to them all the time ‘’Where are you taking me?’’ I asked and picked up my wallet and phone. ‘’Wait and see!’’ He said and ran down the stairs. Going out really sounded nice. It was Friday tomorrow, which meant there was only a day left until the party. I still had this weird feeling that something good would happen. I followed Mike down the stairs, and they were all waiting for me by the door, already dressed to go out. I got my keys and put on my shoes and stopped in front of them. ‘’So, where are we going?’’ Jaime were the first one to speak. ‘’We’re not telling you yet. Deal with it!’’ Tony opened the door and went out with us trailing behind. Mike locked the door and I threw him they keys to the car. He smiled and opened the car and we got in. ‘’don’t worry, it’ll be fun!’’ I heard Jaime say from the backseat. I laughed. ‘’We’ll you’re here.’’ ‘’Yes, I am. And as long as I’m here you’ll never be bored’’ Everyone laughed, gaining a weird look From Jaime. As long as he was in the room, everyone was entertained. Mike started the car and drove off. We were heading straight for town and instead of spacing out, I was chatting away with the boys. Pushing everything away seemed like a good option. I should take this out on them, even though I didn’t know what was wrong. The car stopped and everyone stepped out. I turned around and my eyes widened. ‘’Mike, this had to be your plan… You do realize we have school tomorrow?’’ Mike walked past me and opened the door. Really? A bar. His idea to light up my mood was getting me drunk when I have school? ‘’I know, and I don’t care. Come on’’ He went inside and Jaime and Tony followed him. Maybe I should just give it a shot. As long as I don’t drink too much, there shouldn’t be a problem.

‘’Mike, I drank too much.’’ As I though, the next morning I had the worst hangover I have had in a long time. Mike laughed at me and got his stuff, ready to leave for school. ‘’Come on, I’ll drive.’’ Mike opened the door and went out. I moaned and followed him, picking up my phone and keys. The heat hit me right in the face. It was really hot today and I groaned and walked over to the car and got in. I looked over at Mike, who looked back at me and he started laughing. ‘’Come on, now. Is it really that bad?’’ ‘’Yes.’’ I looked out the window as the car started moving. We didn’t say anything until we reached school. Mike looked at me and smiled before getting out of the car and I did the same. Of course Mike decided to walk me to my class. I couldn’t help but laugh. ‘’Mike, I’m not a baby, and remember. I’m the older one.’’ Mike just laughed and kept walking. ‘’Come on, you’ll be late. I have to make sure my baby brother isn’t late.’’ I growled and ran past him, and into my classroom and shut the door behind me and went to sit down. Tony was already there and he couldn’t help but laugh at me. ‘’So, how do you feel?’’ I just poked his forehead and sat down. ‘’I’m feeling great.’’ I flashed him a wide smile and stretched my arms out. He seemed convinced, and I actually felt a lot better now. Tony just smiled back at me and I looked out the window just like always.

Once I got home I started getting ready for the party. I went straight to the bathroom to straighten my hair. I preferred having my hair straight, but I was too lazy to wake up extra early to straighten my hair when I have school. Once finished, I got a red tank top and black skinny jeans. I looked at myself in the mirror, pretty satisfied. I went downstairs, finding Mike watching some movie. ‘’Mike, it’s time to go’’ He turned off the TV and looked at me ‘’I know but we have to wait for Ja-‘’ before he could say more, the door shot opened, revealing Jaime and Tony. ‘’We’re here, and we’re ready to go’’ Mike and I started laughing and followed Jaime and Tony out the door. This time Tony was driving, and we all got in and drove off.
