Chapter 6

Kellin ran to the Fuentes household, banging on the door rapidly. He had to find Vic. Mike opened the door.
"What do you want?" Mike raised his eyebrows. Kellin looked like he ran all the way here. Not to mention that Vic was really pissed off and wouldn't speak to them.
"Where is Vic?" Mike grabbed Kellin by the collar bringing him in and slamming him up against the coat closet door.
"What the fuck did you do to my brother?!" Mike yelled.
"Michael Fuentes! What are you doing to that poor boy?" A short, thin Mexican woman came around the corner. She smacked Mike upside the head. "What do you need honey?" She was so sweet.
"I need to find Vic." Kellin pulled Mike's hands off his shirt. "Do know where he is?" The woman looked Kellin up and down suspiciously.
"Are you one of Vic's friends?"
"Yes. My name is Kellin and you must be Mrs. Fuentes." She nodded. This boy didn't seem like the type her son would hang out with. He looked panicked right now.
"He is upstairs in his room. The last door on the right." Kellin muttered a quick thank you as he ran up the stairs. He barged into Vic's room. He was laying on his back, his hands tucked behind his head. He shot up when Kellin entered his bedroom. What was he doing here?
"Kellin?" He moved to the side of his bed. Kellin ran to Vic and pulled him into a tight hug. He wanted the pale boy to never let him go. "You smell good." Vic buried his nose in Kellin's chest. He pulled away. Both boys sat on Vic's bed.
"I thought you were going to be so mad." Vic tensed. He was still mad but not at Kellin. He was mad at Amy. He knew what she was trying to do.
"I am mad." Vic looked at Kellin. He looked hurt. "But not at you. At Amy. I mean- You can't just- whatever." He gave up trying to make a complete sentence. Kellin noticed Vic rubbing up and down his upper thighs.
"Vic?" Vic shifted on the bed so his position Indian style. "What did you do when you got home?" Vic looked down at his lap. He was so ashamed of what he did. And over a boy, too!
"I, um, walked through the door, got a bottle of water, went to the bathroom, and then I was laying on my bed until you got here."
"How long were you in the bathroom?" Kellin saw Vic tense.
"How am I suppose to know? I don't exactly time my bathroom visits. I'm not in a race." Kellin maneuvered himself so that he was his head on Vic's shoulder.
"Please don't play dumb with me." He let his fingers play with the bottom of Vic's hoodie. He pulled off, throwing it in the middle of Vic's very clean room. He went to pull off the black t-shirt as well but Vic stopped. He shook his head. Kellin found himself mesmerized by the soft brown curls shaking side from side. Vic pushed a small piece of Kellin's hair away.
"They're not there." Vic made it so they were both facing each other. Kellin quickly shot to Vic's wrists. They were clean besides the light scars that graced the skin. That would leave his- oh. That's why he was rubbing them up and down. He was trying to ease the pain. Kellin put his shaky hands on Vic's upper thighs. He watched as the other boy moved in discomfort.
"Oh Vic." Kellin set his head in the crook of the tan boy's neck. It was awkward but he could deal. As long as he was close to him. "Next time I want you to talk to me before you do this stuff. I want to help you stop." Kellin pulled them so they were both lying on the bed, facing one another. He wrapped his arms around Vic as his moves were mimicked. Their legs were tangled together and Vic had his cheek placed in Kellin's chest.
"What if I fail?" Vic whispered. This was the answer he will always be dreading. Kellin slipped his hands so they were under his shirt, tracing the marks lightly.
"Then I'll still treat you the same." Vic snuggled deeper into Kellin's chest. They sat there for awhile just enjoying the warmth coming off the other person's body. Kellin felt his eyes start to slowly close. He could hear Vic's breathing start to even out too. "Vic?" He only got a small hum as a response. "I think I'm going to fall asleep." Vic's grip tightened around Kellin's waist.
"Then sleep. You are not going anywhere right now." Kellin placed a kiss on the top of Vic's head. They both smiled before falling into blissful sleep.

*a few hours later*

"Victor!" Vic was pulled out of his dream by his father yelling his name. Oh god. Vic pulled away from the arms around him, falling onto the floor, and scrambled up to his feet. He looked at his father who was standing there with his arms crossed. "Do you mind explaining what I just walked in on?" Vic looked towards Kellin. He was awake now and was sitting in the middle of the bed looking between Vic and his dad.
"Um, dad, this is Kellin. He's my friend." Vic scratched the back of his head. Kellin looked really good right now. His black hair was sticking up in random places and his eyes were wide letting the blue shine in the light coming from the hallway.
"I can see he's your friend."
"Dad, I-" He looked back at Kellin. Then he looked his father straight in the eyes. "I trust him." Vic saw his dad relax.
"Well it's dinner time. Will you be staying Kellin?"
"Nah. I'm not that hungry. But thank you. I should be getting home." Vic frowned. He didn't want Kellin to leave.
"Vic?" He shook his head at his father. "Alright have fun boys. Oh and use a condom." Mr.Fuentes shut the door quickly as Vic pick up the nearest book and flung it across the room. Vic sat down on the edge of the bed. His face was as red as a tomato.
"God. They're embarrassing." Kellin laughed. It was sort of husky because it was laced with sleep. Kellin pulled Vic into his lap so that they were back to chest.
"At least they are there for you." He laced their hands together. Vic shivered at the sound of his voice. It was so deep and he could feel the rumble of the words from Kellin's chest. But what did he mean by that?
"What are you talking about? I thought your family was perfect." Vic started playing with Kellin's hands. Everyone said the Quinn's were perfect. They were rich, happy, and nice. What could go wrong with that?
"We're not that perfect. My father left us." Vic stopped all movements. No wonder he hadn't seen Kellin's dad's car or even Kellin's dad. Vic just assumed he was on a business trip.
"Why?" Kellin swallowed. That was the question he had been avoiding. This was part of the reason he kept his reputation. This was one of Kellin's biggest demons.
"I don't think I can tell you right now." Kellin whispered.
"I understand." Vic got up from Kellin's embrace. He looked out the windows. It was nighttime now and the only light that came through the window was from the streetlights. He turned back to Kellin. He placed himself in between the pale boys leg putting both hands on his cheeks. Kellin put his hands lightly on Vic's hips. "He's missing out." Kellin looked up at Vic.
"What?" He felt as if the wind had been knocked out of him.
"He's missing out on being proud of his son. He doesn't get to watch you play football or get a girlfriend." Vic bent over so his lips were level with Kellin's ear. "He's a fool for leaving you. You deserve so much better." Vic pulled away heading for his bedroom door.
"Where are you going?" Vic motioned him over.
"Follow me?" It wasn't meant to come out as a question but Vic didn't exactly like ordering people around. Kellin arched a eyebrow. Vic had a small smile on his face. Kellin came over lacing his fingers with Vic's. His hands were so warm. Kellin has never had anyone say that to him before. How could this boy be treated like he is? He was wonderful, beautiful. Kellin watched as Vic pulled him into the middle of the Fuentes' back yard.
"What are we doing here?" Kellin raised his eyebrows as he saw a blanket. Vic sat down on the blanket but still kept their hands interlocked. He tugged on Kellin's hand.
"Lay down and look at the stars with me?"
"How could I say no?" Kellin smiled as the boys shifted so they were laying side by side. Kellin felt so comfortable with Vic. He could lay here for hours.
"Is your mom going to worry about you?" Kellin shook his head.
"No she works late." Kellin pulled himself up on his elbows. He let his eyes stay on Vic's face. The moonlight was highlighting the smooth features and making his eyes sparkle. "Do your parents know what you do to yourself?" Vic looked over at Kellin.
"N-no." Kellin started running his fingers through Vic's hair. "I don't plan on them know. It would crush them. What if your kid told you that they wanted to die? How would you react?" Vic started playing with his hands. He didn't want to look at Kellin right now so his hands were interesting enough. Not as easy to look at but enough.
"I would want to help them." Kellin pulled them so there was no room between them. He put his head on Vic's shoulder. If any member of Vic's family looked out the window, it would look like Kellin was on top of Vic. That wasn't the case though. It was only Kellin's chest that was on Vic, his legs were on the side. "I'm not going to tell you to stop Vic. I just want to be your substitute."
"Are you telling me to use you?" Kellin pulled away making sure he could look into Vic's eyes. He didn't have to think about this. It was a yes. He would do anything to make sure that Vic would never hurt himself again. He leaned down kissing Vic's forehead.
"If that's what it takes, then yes. You can use me. I just want you to be happy." Vic wrapped his arms around Kellin's neck. He started playing with the black strands of Kellin's shaggy hair. He felt like his was going to cry. Kellin was being totally selfless. This boy held him when his friend took his own life, comforted him at his funeral, and was now causing Vic's stomach to do flips.
"Would you be happy?" Kellin laughed.
"As long as I'm with you, I think I can always be happy." That's when Vic made a split second descion and lightly put his lips against Kellin's, letting his eyes flutter closed. Kellin didn't respond for a few seconds causing Vic to start panicing. Was he doing it right? Kellin moved his free hand to cup Vic's cheek making the kiss become deeper. He felt Vic tighten the grip that was on his shoulders. Vic always thought that it was going to be Kellin that would initiate the kiss. Kellin's lips were so soft and gentle. Vic felt like he was in paradise but all too soon they had to pull away. Kellin rested their foreheads together.
"Why didn't I ever do that sooner?" Kellin chuckled at Vic's words. He pulled away a little to see Vic drain off all color. He still had his eyes closed.
"I take it that you enjoyed that." Kellin replied. Vic opened his eyes and raised an amused eyebrow. Kellin was being awfully cocky.
"No. I was saying that if I did that sooner, I could have gave you tips. That was awful." Kellin's eyes widened. Vic was teasing him again.
"Oh really?" Kellin lowered himself to Vic's ear. "I think it's time to find out if you are ticklish, Mr. Fuentes." Kellin put a leg on either side of Vic's waist then used a hand to pin the tan arms that were once across his neck. Vic narrowed his eyes.
"Kellin! I'm warning you. You don't want to do that."
"Oh what are you going to do if I do?" Kellin raised his free hand to Vic's ribs. Vic pursed his lips in thought. He wasn't very good at threats unless they were against his brother. "You have nothing against me!" Kellin started the assault on Vic's ribs. Vic arched his back trying to knock Kellin off. He was biting his lip to keep from laughing.
"K-k-Kel... S-stop." Vic felt his throat burning from keeping in his laughter.
"You know if you just let out that beautiful laugh, I'll stop." Vic shook his head. That's what he was going to do to Kellin. He was starting to fail. He started squirming around. Kellin smiled as Vic released the laugh. Vic felt Kellin stop tickling him and release his grip from his arms. A small tear escaped Vic's eyes as he came down from his high. "See? That's all you had to do." Vic rolled his eyes. Vic went to pull him into a kiss but Kellin kept his position, leaning over Vic's body.
"What?" Vic sort of felt rejected. Kellin smirked.
"I thought you said I was awful." Vic connected his hands behind Kellin's neck.
"Well, Mr. Quinn, haven't you heard that practice makes perfect?" Kellin felt his mouth drop open. What happened to the small mexican boy who was quiet in school? Not that Kellin didn't like this side of Vic, it was just- wow. Vic giggled at Kellin's shocked expression. Kellin opened his mouth to reply but Vic jerked him so their lips were inches apart. "Just shut up and kiss me."
"Gladly." Kellin softly pressed his lips to Vic's. For somebody who has never been kissed, Vic caught on very quickly. Vic tangled his fingers in Kellin's hair and pulled him closer. So maybe if kissing Kellin was going to cause the end of the world, Vic would probably still do it. He felt Kellin run his tongue along his bottom lip.
"Vic?" Vic shoved Kellin off of him. His mom had to come outside out of all time she could have.
"Yeah Mama?" Vic looked at his mom. She was making her way over to where the two teens were. They looked flustered. Vic was sitting up with his legs crossed and the other boy, Kellin she thinks that was his name, was on his back looking up at the stars. Both of their faces were red, like the weren't bre- oh.
"Was I interrupting something?" She looked between Kellin and Vic. Her son started looking at his hands, a nervous habit he picked up from his father. They glanced at each other. Kellin sat up, coypying Vic's position. They stayed silent. "If I didn't know any better, I think I would have walked in on something worst than your father did." Vic stood up.
"We were just talking." Vic shifted awkwardly on his feet.
"Just talking? Hmmm." Mrs. Fuentes watched as her son stuck out a hand to help Kellin up. Once Kellin was up both of their hands lingered together longer than 'friends' should have. "Do you need to give Kellin here a ride home?"
"Actually, I live next door Mrs. Fuentes." Kellin scratched the back of his head. He laced his fingers with Vic and hopefully put it out of view. Vic's mother caught the gesture.
"Oh your Isabella's child?" Kellin nodded. Mrs. Fuentes looked at Vic. "I thought you hated him." Vic felt Kellin drop his hand imdenently.
"No mom, I don-"
"I should be heading home. My mom will be waiting." Kellin smiled to Mrs. Fuentes as he made his way to the gate. Vic looked at his mom.
"Was that the wrong thing to say?" Vic threw his hands up in the air.
"I don't hate him, Mike hates him. I hate Jake. Oh god! Mom!" Vic felt like he was going to have a panic attack. "I have to go after him. I'll be back." Vic started running after Kellin. He turned towards Kellin's house. He was trying to unlock his door. Vic ran up the stairs stopping behind the upset teen. He stuck a hand out to touch Kellin's shoulder.
"So you hate me?" Kellin turned to Vic, swatting his hand away in the process.
"Kellin, I don't hate you. My mom was confused. It's Mike who has a problem with you." Kellin scoffed. He became rigid and crossed his hands over his chest. It looked like Kellin was starting to close himself off from Vic. "What's your problem?"
"What's my problem? My problem is everyone wants me for something other than my personality. Everyone hates me! Including my own parents." Kellin knows he was blowing this way out of portion but the fact that Vic may hate him just puts the cherry on top of his fucking day. He wanted to punch the wooden paneling of his house.
"I don't hate you. I promise. I wouldn't have kissed you, hell I would never have spoken to you." Vic grabbed Kellin's chin so they were looking towards each other. "I don't think your parents hate you. I doubt anyone could ever hate you."
"Everyone wants me for my looks, my body, or my money. No one wants to know the real me!" Kellin looked over to see that Vic's family started making their way onto the deck.
"Maybe it's because you never let anyone in! You shut yourself off from anyone! You run around acting too cool for feelings and you go out to get drunk then fuck random people!" Vic took a deep breath and lowered his voice. "You can't drink your problems away. Once your sober again, they are still going to be there to haunt you." Kellin grabbed Vic's arm, pulling him closer.
"I could say the same for you." Kellin wanted to grab those words back as soon as they were out. Vic felt a tear run down his cheek. He started taking cautious steps back. Kellin felt horrible. "I'm sorry that was in the heat of the moment. I didn't mean anything by it."
"I-" Vic tucked a stray piece of his hair behind his ears. He felt tears falling from his eyes. Kellin put his hands on Vic's face, wiping the tears away with his thumbs.
"I'm sorry." Kellin whispered as he put their foreheads together. Vic pulled Kellin closer by wrapping his arms around his waist.
"Where were you running to Kellin?" Kellin swallowed the lump in his throat. "We both know that your mom isn't home."
"I just wanted to be by myself." Kellin brushed his nose against Vic's. He let out a little laugh. "This is much better though."
"Really?"
"Yeah." Kellin cleared his throat. "I would kiss you but we have your family as a audience." Vic pulled Kellin closer. He never wanted to be let go. Vic may look like there is nothing there but underneath it was nothing but muscle.
"Right now, I don't give a damn." Kellin let out a light laugh.
"I can feel your brother's death glare searing the side of my face. I think I'll just go inside now." Kellin pulled himself out of Vic's arms. Vic grabbed his hand.
"Wait." Vic turned to look at his family. Kellin was right. Mike did look pissed. His parents, on the other hand, were just smiling. Their son looked so happy with that boy. "Um, can you guys give us a little privacy?" Vic smiled as his family walked back into the house. Kellin pulled Vic off the porch.
"I'm walking you home." They made the short little walk to Vic's porch in silence. "Remind me that I need to take you on a date sometime." Vic stopped in his tracks.
"A date-date? Like a public date?"
"What other type of date do you think I mean?" Kellin noticed Vic went on high alert. A date? Imagine all the shit Vic is going to get when Amy finds out about this. Oh shit! Vic totally forgot the Amy factor in all of this. "Vic what's wrong?"
"W-what? Oh! N-nothing's wrong-g." Kellin didn't buy it. He fished for the pen he always keeps in his pocket and pulled Vic's hand up. He scribbled 10 didgits on the smooth skin.
"If anything is wrong I want you to call or text me. We are going to get through this together. I promise." Vic smiled at Kellin. Maybe Vic did have a crush on this boy. It wasn't just a infatuation with being with the most popular boy. He pulled Kellin down into a short, sweet kiss.
"I think I like-like you Kellin Quinn." Vic mumbled between their lips. Kellin moved rested one hand on the back of Vic's neck as the other was on his waist and pulled him into a deeper kiss. Vic saying that to Kellin released a whole new batch of butterflies in his stomach. He pulled away.
"I like-like you too Vic Fuentes." After that the two boys said goodbye, stealing a few short kisses in between, Kellin was heading into his dark house and Vic was already cuddled up in his warm blanket. He doesn't think he will ever get use to the way Kellin makes him feel. Vic also had a very successful first kiss and not to mention the few that were after that. The only think he had to worry about was the fact that Amy could find out at any moment and lash out with all her teenage bitchyness. Vic didn't really want to worry about that right now, it was a problem for another day.
Kellin was happy that Vic admited he had some sort of feelings to him. It was a relief that someone he actually cared for returned those feelings. Now come the tough part though. If Kellin gets involved with Vic he has to let all of his secrets out. But it doesn't have to be just now. He think he can go a little longer before spilling the beans and fucking everything up. Kellin pulled himself under his blankets. That's how the night ended. Both teens were in bed with each other on their minds, smiles on their faces, and the taste of the kiss that started their whole relationship.
