Help Me Believe It's Not The Real Me
The room
“Syn, I feel like your kidnapping me,” I moaned as we drove away from my house.
“Maybe, but not now,” I said looking out the window. I felt strangely relaxed for the situation I was in., normally I would have felt really awkward.
“I sure hope this kid is like me,” he mumbled making my eyes widen slightly.
“I sure hope it’s not,” I mumbled.
“What if it’s a boy just like me,” he said making my smile weakly.
“Then we are going to be in hell for the next 18 years,” I muttered making him laugh. “Why are you not freaking out more about this?” I asked.
“Well I was,” he started. “A lot, but truthfully……………” He stopped.
“Truthfully what?” I asked. He sighed looking down for a moment before quickly darting his eyes back to the road, as if he forgot he was driving.
“Truthfully, I’ve kinda always wanted a kid.”
“Really?” I asked not sure if I believed it.
“Well yeah, I don’t know why really,” he answered. “And after I broke up with my girlfriend I wasn’t sure if I ever was going to get a chance to be,” he explained. I nodded understanding. For the first time I had seen the more human side to him.
“I’m just not sure I’ll be a good dad,” he said. I smiled realizing he probably would be.
“Hey,” he whined. “Your supposed to say ‘don’t worry Syn you will be a great dad’”
“I thought you wanted me to call you Brian?” I asked, laughing. He smiled.
“Oh yeah I forgot,” he mumbled pulling into his driveway. I smiled. He could be cute, sometimes.
“Your house, the surprise is at your house?” I asked hesitantly, stepping out of his car. He nodded smiling. “We are not going to your bedroom are we?”
He laughed shaking his head.
“Not my bedroom,” he said suspiciously. I followed him to his house, and he opened the door.
He walked towards the stairs and I started following him.
“Follow me,” he said making me laugh, since he knew I was following him anyway. I followed him down a hallway. He stopped at a closed door.
“It’s not perfect yet,” he said.
“Well nothings perfect,” I answered as he opened the door. I smiled looking at what was inside.
It was a baby room painted light green, it had a cute little crib in it as well as some stuffed animals and baby toys. It was just about the cutest thing I had ever seen.
“I know we don’t know each other that well, but I thought maybe it would be cool, if you would move in with me,” he said walking into the room. “Well what do you think?”
“About the room, or the offer?” I asked.
“Both.”
“Well I love the room,” I said walking over to the cute little crib. “But don’t you think it would be weird?”
“No not if we are just friends,” he said. I picked up a cute little teddy bear that was sitting inside the crib. “Friends?”
I sighed. “Friends,” I nodded.
“So you will move in with me?”
“Yes, Brian” I answered.
“It’s Syn,” he said laughing. I rolled my eyes dropping the teddy bear back in the room.
“What did I just get myself into.”
“Maybe, but not now,” I said looking out the window. I felt strangely relaxed for the situation I was in., normally I would have felt really awkward.
