How Will I Know?

CapĂtulo Dieciocho

"Hello madam. I am here to escort miss Codds in the order of Mr. Payne." The man in a black suit spoke. Andrea, who had opened the door, mentioned me to come over. I grabbed my clutch and, with a nervous smile, left with the man.

It took almost two hours to get to destination and it felt longer than our ten hour flight. I had absolutely no idea where I was going and it was killing me. Plus, Liam wasn't answering my texts. Once we finally stopped, we had pulled up into the driveway of a beautiful house - more like mansion - and dozens of people where getting out of limousines and fancy cars. I gasped and nervously put on my mask. I didn't even know where I was going so I just followed the group of people going towards a huge door.

"Name?" a man asked me.

"Um.... Codds. Sabrina Codds."

"I'm sorry miss Codds but you don't appear to be on my list." the man smiled sympathetically at me.

"Oh um, Liam Payne's plus one?" I tried again.

"Oh yes here you are! I'm sorry." he opened the door and let me in. I was soon engulfed by a sea of masked people. I had no idea where I was and what I was doing here and it was starting to scare me.

"Found you." I heard someone said behind me putting him arm around my waist. I immediately relaxed, recognizing the voice.

"Well it's kind of easy for you too find me when you picked out what I would wear right?" I teased turning around to face him. He looked breathtaking. His black suit paired up with a light blue tie and a bronze mask made in sort that we were matching perfectly.

"You look absolutely gorgeous." he said pecking my lips.

"You remembered I liked peacocks..." Was the only thing I was able to mumble as my cheeks where flushing.

"Of course I remembered. I've been remembering stuff about you since the first day we met." I looked down and flushed even harder. To hide the fact that I was getting uncomfortable under the sea of compliments, I questioned him:

"What is this anyway?" I motioned the surroundings.

"It's our annual charity gala. We pay to come in and then we can bid on different stuff during the evening and the money of everything we end up buying goes to the charity of our choice." he seemed to proud to be part of this that it made my heart warm up.

"Wow that's amazing..." I said until I felt someone grab my arm and yank it screaming: "It's show time!" I panicked but one glance towards Liam told me that everything would be okay and to just go with the flow. I soon found myself in queue to get on the huge stage that I hadn't noticed before with another dozen of girls.

"Welcome my dear friends for our 23rd charity gala." The master of ceremony spoke into the microphone. "The first bid of the evening will be for the first dance. Gentlemen, get your wallets ready because we have beautiful ladies out here for you!"

"So as they call out your name, you walk on stage and you stand to the right of the MC got it?" a lady holding a clipboard instructed us. We all nodded in agreement.

"Isabelle, Natasha, Emily, Sabrina..." I followed the previous girls onto the stage wearing my most gorgeous smile even thought I was utterly nervous inside. I didn't particularly want to dance with a stranger, no matter how famous he was.

"Cathleen, Kimberly, Andrea, Charlotte..."

I couldn't help but jerk my head back only to see my friends strutting on stage looking fabulous. I couldn't help but be surprised to see them but the MC soon interrupted my thoughts by commencing the bidding. I was astounded by how well pricey the girls sold and when came my turn, I was truly nervous that my bids wouldn't be high or that I would simply get none.

"Let's start the bid at 15 000$ for the young lady shall we?" the master of ceremony said. What? He had started all the other girls at 10 000$, why would I be worth 5 000$ more?

"20 000$!" I heard someone scream. I looked and it was Liam. The thought of him bidding to have the first dance with me made me blush.

"21 000$!" somebody counter offered.

"22 000$!"

"23 000$!"

"25 000$!"

"27 000$!"

"30 000$!"

They went back and fort each bidding more on me than the other. My head was starting to spin.

"30 000$ going once, going twice, sold to the man in the blue tie!"
