Survive the Storm

We immediately dove into the room.
Whipping though cupboards and the fridge.
" Oh my god we can eat! " We all hollered.
We carried tons of food into the commons on the tables and had the
best lunch we'd ever had.
And by 4pm we were stuffed and satisfied.
The only thing that could make it better is if you know we were free.
Rain poured and whipped around still making the sky look purple and
green with darkness.
Hail had started to come down about an hour earlier and debris from
the construction of the auditorium had started to fly making it
extremely dangerous to attempt escape.
As I looked around the commons, I realized that all of us in there
looked so sickly, I bet I did too.
Everyone was pail and their hands and feet were purple.
All of us trembling and wrapped in sweatshirts of whatever we could find.
Mrs. B was shaking the most.
I knew we had to get her something to put over her bare arms.
Before I could even move, Ms. Payton got up and handed Mrs. B a tennis
jacket, thin but it worked.
" You have to stay warm, put this on you " Ms. Payton said hugging her stomach.
Mrs. B put it around herself then tried to zip it up.
" Oh my god look at me I can't even zip it up, my stomach is too big "
Mrs. B laughed.
" That isn't the first time I haven't fit into something through this
pregnancy "
" Just wrap it around yourself you'll stay warm at least " Ms. Payton
hugged her then sat down by us and mrs. B.
After a couple minutes of pure silence and watching Mrs. B, I finally
decided to help her.
" Mrs. B you're trembling really hard we gotta get u somewhere warmer" I stepped down by her.
" No no really I'm fine " She nodded.
" Think about ur baby this isn't healthy for it either " I mentioned to her.
She sighed in agreement " But where? " she asked.
" I um... Don't know " I looked around for ideas from anyone, but got
none." The other part of the school has to warmer we have to try to
get there " I jumped.
" No it's to dangerous " Emma warned.
" But we are gonna die of hypothermia if we stay here " Kia jumped
into the conversation.
" Oh my god " Nikki screamed.
" What? ! " We all turned toward her.
Nikki just pointed a trembling finger toward the windows.
We all looked at where she was pointing and half of us passed out.

After helping a few of us regain consciousness, we couldn't believe what we saw.
Snow, rain, and hail all mixed into one green, purple, flying debris,
that's all we saw.
" Ok I agree with Ella now, we have to get to the other part of the
school " Mrs. Hans stood up.
Mrs. Hans looked toward some other teachers and they're classes and
said " You all stay I'll pick some people to come with me " Mrs. Hans
looked at us.
" Ella, Emma, Kia, Kendra, Nikki, Chloe, Jane, Ryan, Cory, Dani,
Josie, Mrs. B, Ms. Payton, Hailey, Kristine, and we'll take Megan too" Mrs. Hans motioned for the ones she called to come with her.
The little pack of 3 teachers and 14 kids followed along to the doors.
We all took a deep breath and ran.
Suddenly as we all thought we would make it, the windows shattered
bringing flying debris, and snow, hail and rain, flying through the
broken windows, I covered myself and dunked my head as we pushed
through the doors to the big part of the school and collapsed on the
ground, safe for now.

Ms. Payton counted us to make sure we had everyone.
We watched as she stood on her toes to see all of us, but she gasped.
" What's wrong? " Mrs. B asked her.
" We're short one person " She stuttered.
Mrs. Hans walked around us trying to figure out who was missing.
" Josie that's who's missing " She looked around again.
We all turned toward the doors, as if expecting to see Josie laying in
the debris, killed by windows shattering but we saw nothing.
" I knew we'd lose somebody when the windows shattered, letting all
the weather and debris in " Mrs. Hans cried.
We then turned toward the dark school ahead of us, " Well, better find what we need " Mrs. Hans started walking and we all followed her.
I could hear the sound of Kendra and Nikki trying to carry Megan
through the halls with us.
We all sat down for a couple minutes to relax our feet, when something
broke shattering to the floor, I couldn't even se my hands in front of
me it was so dark, especially when the school was full of ups and
downs, little staircases and railings to see down on hallways or
walkways, all of them, leaded to the open lunch area where u could see
everything, nothing was on the same level, but it was such a cool
school.
We all jumped.
" What was that? " Ms. Payton shuttered.
" Maybe a window broke again? " Mrs. Hans asked.
" I don't think so " Mrs. B grabbed my shoulders and I let her hang
on, I grab her to and we hugged for a few seconds, which lead up to
just about all of us trembling into a hug.
Breaking the silence, was a ear piercing scream that filled school, after a few seconds more screams burst into the air.
The sound of glass shattered into the screams, a window broke, we all thought.
" It must be near by " Kia whispered. " I can feel the wind, and water is flowing over by us " She pointed.
I looked down struggling to see my feet in the pitch darkness, but it
knew I could feel the water sweeping in around my feet.
By this point I could hardly even feel my feet anymore.
Almost 2 full days away from the world, trapped.
Knocking me out of that terrible thought was reality and the sound of
a person dropped to the floor.
Megan had fallen.
I heard many of us run to where we thought Megan would be.
But as the lightening flashed I got a quick glance at where she was
and what I saw, almost killed me myself, I immediately blacked out
from the horror and fell to the ground and just as I lost
consciousness the last thing I was a person, but this person wasn't
one of us.
