It's Time to Rock the Dragon

Chapter two

All I could think of as I walked into Orange Star High School was how different it was to Domino. I completely loved it. The biggest difference was that at Orange Star, there were no uniforms. No disgusting pink, blue and white was on me today. Instead we had to wear a badge containing the school logo. I wore it on my jeans.

Because it was the first day of senior year for everybody, I did not stand out. Everybody was racing around finding their friends to discuss how their summers went. It gave me time to walk through the hallways while I admired the school and went to find my locker.

However, this did not stop me from bumping into somebody. I obviously was too occupied looking at the locker numbers, as I felt myself collide into someone’s chest.

I looked up to see a boy look down on me worriedly. He had short black hair in spikes, with a small portion falling down onto his forehead. He had pale skin and chocolate brown eyes, and was quite tall, hence why he was looking down upon me.

“Hey uh, I’m really sorry. I’m new, and the school overwhelmed me. I wasn’t looking where I was going. Sorry.” I apologised to the boy

Usually tall boys intimidated me (thanks Seto!) but I wasn’t scared of this boy. He reminded me of Yugi, it was like kindness radiated off him.

“It’s okay. I came to this school in the middle of last year. I know what it’s like.” He smiled.

I smiled back, a little unsure of what to say.

“I’m Gohan by the way.” He stated, offering his hand.

“I’m Charlotte.” I shyly introduced, taking his hand.

“Well, after 6 months I’ve got my bearings of this place. Want me to take you to your locker?” Gohan offered.

“That would be lovely!” I beamed.

I gave him my paper, and he looked at it thoroughly

“I, uh, have no clue to be honest.” Gohan sighed, sounding embarrassed.

Before I could tell him it was okay, a girl appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the paper off him.

“Her locker is right behind you, next to yours. How else were you meant to find your own locker?” The stated, rolling her blue eyes.

She was quite short and petite, but her girliness ended there. She had strawberry blonde hair that was fairly long. Her dark eyeliner rimmed around her blue eyes contrasted against her pale skin and her clothing was mostly dark. You could tell this girl had an attitude.

“Thanks Jess.” Gohan mumbled, looking at the floor, his cheeks turning rosy.

That was so Yugi it wasn’t even funny.

“Now leave this poor girl alone. No one will ever date you again. You have been contaminated by Videl.” Jess snapped, grabbing my arm and carting me away.

I sent a meek wave to Gohan.

“Before we possibly become friends and I get to know you, one question. Are you a big fan of Mr. Satan?” Jess asked me.

“Who’s Mr. Satan?” I asked.

Jess burst into laughter, but when she died down she studied my face.

“Oh my god, you’re serious. You HAVE to come with me!” Jess said, sounding excited.

I shrugged my shoulders as I sped off after her. We eventually stopped in front of a lecture theatre.

“This is homeroom and where all of our classes are.” Jess stated and my eyes bugged out of my head.

In Domino we had normal classrooms and desks! Not a large lecture theatre.

“Don’t worry Charlotte, you get used to it. I was overwhelmed at first but I got used to it.” Gohan smiled to me.

“Shut up Gohan, no one cares about you. I’m sure Charlotte wasn’t a home schooled freak like you,” Jess snapped at Gohan, but then turned to me “Were you homeschooled?”
“No, I went to a public school.” I shyly replied.

“See Gohan, she will be fine.” Jess snapped to Gohan and stormed into the lecture theatre.

I sent a warm smile towards him as I followed Jess up the aisle. We sat at the near back in an empty row. Gohan sat next to three people right in front of us.

“What I’m about to do to you is entrapment. If I warn you beforehand it’s a little less mean, right?” Jess asked me.

“Uh…” I replied, a little unsure.

“Great! Here goes nothing.” Jess grinned.

“Oi Videl, meet my new friend.” Jess shouted, and a girl with bright blue eyes and short black hair turned around.

I attempted to send her a small smile, but she sent Jess and I a glare before stating to us “I don’t care.”

“Charlotte, Videl is the daughter of Mr. Satan.” Jess stated.

I automatically felt dislike towards Videl. I could easily guess that Jess wanted me to repeat my dialogue of before, stating that I don’t know who Mr. Satan is. Usually I would bite my tongue and keep my mouth shut if this girl was his daughter. But she was treating me as if I was guilty by association (it was obvious her and Jess has a longstanding feud) and was being rude to me even though I tried to show her kindness.

Maybe it was entrapment, but I still had a choice on how to act. I chose to act on Jess’ side.

“Okay. Who’s Mr. Satan?” I grinned, playing the part well (I still had no idea who Mr. Satan was though!)
The large muscular boy next to Videl made a loud noise.

“He’s the one that saved the world from Cell!” The muscular boy piped up.

“Shut up Sharpner. When the broadcast got cut, that blonde kid was fighting Cell and was putting up a good fight compared to the others who fought him. Mr. Satan got knocked out of the ring in the first few seconds, and don’t get me started on his apprentices. That kid could actually stand him. And when Mr. Satan apparently won, he had no new scratches on him.” Jess shouted at ‘Sharpner’

I thought about it. Cell, Cell. It sounded so familiar. Then it clicked. Cell was around when I was ten. He threatened to kill the earth, and squads were sent in to kill him. He never approached Domino thank god. I was at Yugi’s house with Tea the day of the Cell Games. We didn’t watch, we occupied our time with fun things in case we really did die.

That seems like so long ago. It was before Yugi solved his millennium puzzle. Way before Duellist Kingdom and Battle City. You kind of forget world issues when you get tied up with Yugi’s issues of him defeating villains trying to conquer the world. At the time I was much more frightened of Marik than I was of Cell, so Cell was a distant memory.

“Whatever you two, I don’t care. Get a life.” Videl sneered, turning back to the front.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Gohan chuckling. He didn’t think anybody noticed, but I did.
