It's Time to Rock the Dragon

Chapter seven

“AWWW! You’re the one who’s being nice to my baby! Gohan told me ALL about you!” A middle aged but very beautiful woman gushed, coming to my side and engulfing me into a tight hug.

“Yeah, it’s nice to meet you.” I choked out, being unable to breath from this tight hug I was receiving.

“Mooooom!” Gohan whined, stretching out his address to his mother.

“Oh let’s see my granddaughter then.” Chi-Chi winked, and I handed her the doll that was being used in the project.

“While the females coo over a doll, let me introduce you to everybody.” Gohan mumbled, grabbing me by my shoulders and dragging me off.

We did the rounds, and he introduced me to Bulma Brief, the daughter of the owner of Capsule Corp, her husband Vegeta and her son and daughter, his father Goku and his brother Goten, and the friends of both families: Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and Piccolo.

They were all quite nice, not something I expected. They all seemed to have character and could actually hold a conversation. The ones at the Kaiba Corp events were the opposite, boring clones, and looked as if they would rather shoot their own foot off than have to actually speak to an outsider.

Gohan and I made our way back to Chi-Chi, who handed Gohan the baby on arrival.

“It’s crying, you should take care of it. Show me your skills as a father, you do realise you’ll need to learn this one day Gohan? I will love my grand children, but you’ll need to be able to do this without me!” Chi-Chi hammered on.

“Mom! It’s just a project, I won’t be a dad for a-“

“Gohan! You’ll be a dad one day! Do you love your mother? Are you saying you’ll never have kids?” Chi-Chi cut off Gohan, and her eyes began to well up.

“Yes Mom, I’ll have kids one day. The key word is one day.” Gohan whined, rolling his eyes.

I took the baby from Chi-Chi, not being able to stand its crying anymore. I sat down on the couch next to Yamcha, and began to hush the baby’s crying, rocking it softly back to sleep as if it were a real baby.

“Good work.” Yamcha grinned, tapping me on the shoulder.

I looked up at Gohan and Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi looked delighted, and started screeching about how much of a good mother I would be, and began to instantly drop less than subtle hints about how Gohan and I should get together.

However, I drowned out her speaking. I kept my focus on Gohan. Gohan had a smile on his face. It wasn’t just a smile to show he was happy. It was a small smile, but not a sad smile. Through his smile I could see he was delighted.

He was looking at me cradling the baby, with this delightful smile. I looked up at him and sent him a smile back. He blushed, and looked away quickly. But seconds later, he looked back.

Yamcha noticed our exchanges, and got up quickly exclaiming he needed to go to the toilet. Gohan took his spot immediately.

He put his arm around me, and leaned his head sideways against mine. He wrapped his other free arm around me, so we were both cradling the baby but he also was able to cradle my arms.

“What was that for?” I teased, moving my head just to say this to him as I moved it back to his.

“For um, the happiness metre. Remember the teacher said we needed to do couple like things in order for the baby to be happier? This is a couple like thing.” Gohan replied.

This was incorrect. Couple like things were outlined by the teacher as spending time together with the baby. It did not include intimacy or affection. I knew Gohan knew this was the case as well. But I did not speak up. Instead I enjoyed the affection and nuzzled myself closer to his neck.

We stayed like this for a while. It was nice. I drowned out my surroundings, and just focused on the now. I really liked Gohan, and his words and actions showed he did this out of his own accord. This was real, unlike what I had with Seto. Gohan had no motives to fake this, at least none that are obvious to me.

Of course Seto Kaiba had to ruin everything. Literally.

As I began to work up the courage to perhaps kiss Gohan, loud voices were heard. They weren’t yelling per say, but it was probably the loudest it could go before yelling. However, the aggressiveness was disguised by faux pleasantries.

“I apologise Mr. Kaiba but I cannot do business with you. I don’t think we see eye to eye on the proposed deal, and for that I think it’s best if we end this idea today.” I heard an older man say.

“I advise you Mr. Brief it would be wise of you to agree to my conditions. As I own the biggest gaming corporation, a joint project would increase your market share within the gaming industry.” I heard as a comeback.

The comeback was almost spat by a cold know-it-all voice. I immediately knew the owner of the voice.

“Thanks for the offer, but I’m not interested in increasing market share. I create products to help people, not for the profit. We do not see the same vision.” I heard the first voice say.

The owner of the second voice did not reply, but instead stuck his head in. Everyone feeling his presence looked over, but he sent us all a scowl.

As much as I hated to admit this, but I knew Seto well. I could still read his expression well and knew how his mind worked. He was scowling at the differences of these people. How Tien had three eyes, how Chiatzo was small. How Piccolo was green. He didn’t get to know these people; he already disliked them for being weird.

“Miss Brief! Didn’t you agree with me?” Seto said to Bulma.

“Look buddy! I know you’ve been trying to get your stupid little duel disk system in capsule form for a while, and I know you’ve been trying to hit on me just to use me like you use others. I’m a married woman; you’re twenty years younger than me. You’re just a kid to me. Now I’m sure both me and everyone else here would appreciate it if you just left.” Bulma spat at him.

Seto looked around, after hearing Bulma’s comment about ‘everyone else here’ and I could tell he was taking in the scene before him to insult us all.

But then his eyes landed on Gohan and I in the position we were, but his attention was mostly on me.
