Till death do you part

I stood at the door today is the day I get married..to the man I've never met before. My mother and father knock on the big oak door and a very awkward lady stands at the door. Ill never understand these Victorian hairstyles.

"Well, hello. What a pleasure. Welcome to our home." Mrs. Adams says

"Thank you." My mother answers

"We'll be taking tea in the west drawing room. Oh, do come this way, it's just through there". She told us

My mom trying to be friendly asks

"Oh, I love what you've done with the place. Who is your decorator?"

And my father always has to add his two cents so he adds

" Nice tiles, shame about the drapes"

I'm thinking to myself 'way to go father insult my soon to be husbands shades'

My Mom just replies

"My husband says such foolish things. Ignore him."

" Yes, it's usually best." Mrs. Adams answers Walking away

Im left standing alone looking awkward back towards the piano that sits in the center of the room i set my hand down on it, striking one note. I looks around nervously, then strike another. I sit and slowly play up a few notes, look around again, still no one there. I start to play a song wrote

I'm so distracted by what I'm playing I hardly notice that someone has now enter the room with me I slam my finger down on the keys and me being a klutz I tip the piano bench over. Smooth move Gerard

"Oh! Do forgive me." I say rapidly

"You play beautifully" Howard tells me

"I... I... I do apologize, Mr.Adams
How rude of me to... Well.....Excuse me." I say picking up the bench

"Mother won't let me near the piano. Music is improper for me Too passionate, she says." He sighs

"Oh my, I'm sorry Mr Adams"

"Perhaps, in... In view of the circumstances... ...you could call me Howard" he says shyly

"Yes, of course. Well... Howard"

"Yes, Gerard"

"Tomorrow, we going to be M... M..." I stutter out unable to form words at the moment

"Married." He finishes for me

"Yes. M-married."

"Since I was a child, I've... I've dreamt of my wedding day. I always hoped to find someone I was deeply in love with. Someone to spend the rest of my life with. Silly, isn't it?" He ask me

"Yes, silly. No. No, not at all, no." Oh God I suck at this
I attempt to lean and put my arm on the piano nonchalantly, and of corse I knock over a vase over in the process.

But Howard just picks up the flower from the vase and smells it absent mindedly. He looks shyly at Me and offers me the flower, i takes it from him slowly, both of us gazing at each other shyly. i places it in my jacket pocket.
Then we hear a door open and Mrs.Adams walks and scolds us for being together before being properly married and we are to the room to practice for the wedding

At the church, the parents sit in chairs behind the alter where two candles and two glasses of wine are set on either side of the Bible. Howard and I stand before the alter each holding a candle, pastor Galswells is behind the alter

Pastor Galswells is annoyed hey I'm nervous okay

" Master Way from the beginning. Again. 'With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way in darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.'

" Yes. Yes, sir." I sputter out
"With this candle..

I attempt to light the candle in my hand off the one to the right of the Bible but the damn thing wont light

"Shall I get up there and do it for him?"
I hear my mother whisper

"Don't get all aflutter, dear" my father coos back

"With this candle.." Is all I got

Pastor Galswells says
"Continue! Let’s just pick it up at the candle bit.."

"Yes. Yes, sir. Certainly." I say starching the back of my neck

Howard leans over and lights my candle off of his own, already lit one
i lifts my left hand

" - Right." The pastor says Victor

"Right?. Oh, right!..."
I say switching hands

"....With this... This..."

" - Hand." Galswell states in monotone

I takes Howard's hand in my own and step forward

causing us both to bump into the alter, i have stepped to far

"Three steps, three! Can you not count? Do you not wish to be married, Master Way?" He yells at me

"No! No."

"You do not?" Howard ask

"No! I meant, no, I do not not wish to be married. That is, I want very much to..." God I suck

He pulls the ring from his pocket so fast that he tosses it behind him, it rolls into the congregation seats behind him, he drops his candle and dives for the ring)

"Did you bring the ring?" he ask and

The pastor yells

"Excuse me. Got it!" I say

I smell smoke uh oh I look at Mrs. Adams dress it oh fire and she is panicking. Okay time to run away
"DONT COME BACK UNTIL YOUR READY TO BE MARRIED" the pastor yells at me
