You Have My Attention

Perfect timing.

"You're late." Remi's co-worker, Kayla teased as she entered the office.

Remi rolled her eyes as she sat at the desk next to her friend.

"If you only knew what I have been through the past 12 hours." She mumbled as she logged onto her computer.

"Oh?" Kayla asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Pure hell." She replied and Kenley sighed, "Oh I was hoping it involved a hot boy."

"Nope." She mumbled as she sipped on her coffee. The pair both worked for a graphic designing company and actually Remi had met Kayla here. The girl was now one of her best friends if not her only one that is.

"Oh so you remember Nick, right?" Kayla asked, changing the subject.

"The hook up that turned into a dating relationship? Yep."

Kayla rolled her eyes, "Right, well, he invited me to some party tonight. You should come. You need a little fun in your life."

"I don't necessarily want to be a third wheel in your relationship."

Kayla scoffed, "Oh please. If it makes you feel any better, Nick's friend is riding with us too."

"And this definitely isn't going to be an attempt to find me someone."

"Remi! It's not. Just freaking say yes!"

"Fine! Ok."

Kayla smiled, "Perfect. We will pick you up at 8."

"Fantastic." She mumbled as she tried to focus on her work. The day seemed to go by slow since she was pretty tired and by the time she left Kayla threatened her to be ready by 8 so they could pick her up. That left her no time for a nap.

Once at her place she forced herself to shower and get ready. As slow as she was moving, she wasn't ready until Kayla was banging on her door.

"I'm ready, chill out." She growled as she flew open the door.

The girl smiled as if she wasn't being annoying, "Awe you don't look like a slob, that's good."

Remi glared at her. She never looked like a slob; that she was sure of. She glanced down at her outfit. Deciding on shorts and a tank top thanks to the hot Arizona air. What was wrong with this? Was she assuming she wasn't well put together?

"You look cute. I was just saying."

"Yeah. Yeah." Remi mumbled, not giving it another thought as she locked the door behind her. The pair walked to a car that had two boys leaning against it. She of course knew one of them was Nick, she had actually met him before and surprisingly he was a nice guy.

"Hello Remi." The familiar guy spoke and she smiled, "Hey."

"Eric, Remi. Remi, Eric." Nick introduced the dark headed, lanky boy beside him.

"Pleasure." He spoke with a smile and she nodded as they all got in the small car. At this point, if she couldn't sleep she just needed a drink. She could already tell this was going to be a interesting night.

Needless to say the guy named Eric talked most of the way there and she was beyond relieved to get somewhere just so she could get away from him. She didn't know if it was him that was the problem or if it was her mood. Either way she was over it.

"Whose house is this?" She asked Nick as they all walked to the door.

"Oh our friend Garrett's."

She nodded as she followed him inside where the amount of people was a bit surprising. How many people did they know?

"Drink?" Kayla asked as if she could read her mind. Remi immediately nodded, "Definitely."

Nick pulled them through the crowd to the kitchen which was a bit better on the amount of people.

"Let me find some cups." He said as he looked around the small room. Her eyes roamed over the people in order to help him and they landed on a boy in the corner who seemed to be passing out drinks. She ignored Nick's rant and headed over to the brown headed guy.

"Are you the bartender?" She asked with a grin and the boy looked up at her, his blue eyes taking her off guard.

"I, well, I mean, no, I just, I can make you a drink though." He fumbled out as he quickly grabbed up an empty red cup.

Her smile widened as he locked eyes with her and he clutched onto the bottle of vodka in fear of dropping it.

"Is um, this ok?" He asked softly and she nodded watching him as he poured it into the cup before mixing it with some sort of fruit punch.

He held out the cup for her and she gently grabbed a hold of it, "Thank you."

He nodded and she smiled once more before walking back to the group.

"Where did you get that?" Kayla asked and she shrugged, "The cute boy over there."

"Garrett?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know. I guess." She stated before leaving the too small space. She was starting to feel claustrophobic.

She made her way into the living room just observing the people around her that she didn't know. Not that she minded really. She enjoyed people watching. Better than someone trying to chat her up. She hated pointless conversations.

"Is it sad that I'm starting to know who you are by your lack of pants?"

She groaned before spinning around to be faced with John, the boy from next door...and well, coffee shop. What was the chance of this?!

"Is it sad that I'm starting to know you by your annoying voice?"

"Ouch." He chuckled placing his hand on his chest, and she rolled her eyes.

"What brings you here? Stalking me?" He finally asked.

She couldn't help but laugh at that, "Not in a million years. I'm here with my friend who apparently is dating someone you must know."

"Ah I see and who is that?"

"Nick."

"Nick Santino?" He questioned with a raised brow as if that name meant something to her.

"I don't know, does he have brown hair and tattoos?"

John nodded.

"Then yes it is. Santino, huh? Mhm cool name."

John laughed, "That's all you have to say?"

"Well yeah, that and he's too cool to hang out with you."

"Also, you don't even know my last name. What if it's cooler than his?"

"Try me."

"O'Callaghan."

"Mhm. Not too bad."

John couldn't help but laugh, "And what's your last name?"

"Quinn."

"Remi Quinn. To hate musicians, you have the perfect name for one."

"I don't hate musicians."

"Oh just Fall Out Boy. Got it."

She rolled her eyes and he chuckled, "Guess that means we are friends by association."

"Oh really?"

"Yes really, so come on. Let me introduce you to some people, friend."

She groaned as he placed his arm around her shoulder and pulled her through the crowd. When she assumed the night would be interesting she didn't have this in mind.

I decided to update again this week simply because the love for this story has made me happy! :)

Just know I giggled when I wrote that she was annoyed with Halvo. I mean, come on, who could be annoyed with him?!
