Slightly Off

I sat with Ciel in the carriage, it shook slightly as the roads were bumpy. Sebastian driving the carriage. He seemed lost in the letter in front if him, and I only watched as his expression darkened slightly.

"Is it bad?" I asked, and he looked up. He didn't seem to catch my free speech, as a servant shouldn't talk so unguarded to her master, but I found it hard to give a flying fuck about that. He sighed, and rested his head on his fist. "Somewhat. There are prostitutes being murdered frivolously in the London area... its a rather gruesome case..." he said, and I tilted my head to the side. "Must be hard, being the Queens Guard Dog." I said, and he gave me a lazy stare. His eyes showed the amount of how much he could really care, and I know at that moment...

He just wants to get it over with.

I internally laugh at that thought, and look out the window. I've never been away from the manor, except on that one trip to London we took for Ciel's cane. Apparently little master over here has a house in London.

And we had just arrived...

"I hate going to London... its so crowded this time of year " Ciel said, and I followed him out of the carriage. "There's no helping it sir, it is the social season after all..." Sebastian said, sticking his hand out for me to take it. I let my hand rest on it for a second, before I felt this searing heat radiate off of it. I jerked my hand back and looked at Sebastian, who gave me a confused look.

"Miss Annie?"

I blinked and let out a breath, "Ah, nothing..." I said, and took his hand again, only to be stung with more heat from his hand. I took it back, and decided to just get off without help.

"Is everything alright?" Ciel asked, giving us a look that said 'you're wasting time here people...' and turned around when I nodded. Holding my hand to my chest, I walked on, being followed by Sebastian. "Is it really?" He asked, bending down to meet my eye level.

"I don't know... you tell me." I answered, and walked forward. I sense something wrong here. Very, very wrong.

...

I stood next to Ciel, quiet and waiting. Having just made the acquaintance of his aunt, Madame Red, and a... work mate? I dunno what he is. But he's Chinese and his name is Lau.

"You could call these crimes gruesome in the least. The person the police and public are now calling, 'Jack the Ripper' has a very distinct way of killing. By slicing the throat, and seems to have a very good sense of anatomy..." Ciel said, casually sipping his tea. I could care less about this Jack the Ripper. After all, I kind of already know how this ends... the famous mystery of Jack the Ripper. The most notorious criminal ever...

I sigh and look down at my hand, which is now tingling slightly at the area where I had grabbed Sebastian's hand with. It doesn't hurt... but this is strange. I will have to consult Imogen again soon. There's a way to do that without knocking myself unconscious... but I don't really like it. I'm left feeling so drained afterwards that I will probably end up knocked out.

I come back to the conversation at hand, when Ciel stands up. "That settles it then, we are going to the crime scene." He says. I stare as he walks off, and I follow behind Sebastian.

Yes. I need to talk to Imogen soon...
