Trasna na huiscí

Chapter 7

Aine murmured sleepily and yawned as someone shook her shoulder. "Senorita Aine, necessitas a levantarse, esta la dia de su boda", said Elena.

Aine reluctanly opened her eyes and yawned, looking at her serving lady sleepily. "Si, pero tengo un poco sueno", she whispered.

"Necessitas a levantarse, senorita Aine. Necessitas a banar y poner su vestido, quieres a Sergio a gustar a ti?", teased the older woman.

Aine blushed as she let Elena lead her to an adjacent room, glad that the family was staying at the Ramos' townhouse in Seville. At least we won't be in the carriage with my dress going from the castle to hear, it would ruin the dress, she thought dryly.

Elena quickly got her undressed and had her sit in the tub of hot water as Aine washed herself and the older woman helped her wash her hair with the rose-scented soap, Elena nodding in approval. "Tu estas muy bonita para su boda, Aine. Sergio va a tener mucho feliz cuando el mira a ti", she cackled.

"Si, and he will be very handsome in his suit", she giggled.

Aine finished bathing as Elena dried her long blond hair with a towel, handing her a simple white dressing gown as they went downstairs for breakfast. The rest of the family was already gathered for breakfast and Aine couldn't help but chuckle when she saw Ciara and Fernando sitting next to each other and holding hands under the table. "You have to wait until your own wedding", she teased.

"Si, y se hará una hermosa desposada para mi amigo", laughed Fernando as he squeezed Ciara's hand.

"I hope I don't have to wear the suit the whole time", muttered Kevin as he helped himself to a scoop of eggs.

"You can change into something a bit more comfortable for the reception, and that would be a good idea for you ladies as well", said Fernando as the sisters looked relieved.

"But that will be after the main festivities are over, Fernando", said Don Ramos as he served himself eggs and passed the bowl around the table.

Aine made herself eat breakfast knowing that she might not getting anything to eat until after the wedding and not for a while during the reception. Too bad Sergio is staying at his apartment in the city, it is a stupid superstition, she thought.

"I am going to Sergio's apartment and helping him get ready", said Fernando after breakfast was finished.

Aine nodded as her and Ciara went upstairs to get ready. Fernando bid goodbye to the Ramos family and went outside to the adjoining stable where Pepe waited for him with the horse. "This will be you in a month, Fernando. I hope the party afterwards will be a lot of fun", chuckled the manservant.

"Si, verdad. I will have to patient, Ciara is not some peasant wench I can tumble. If she is not a virgin on our wedding night, the family will be very upset. I hope Sergio was able to control himself, he has always had an eye for the ladies", said Fernando with a chuckle.

"Si, pero el neccessitas a esperar", agreed Pepe as he mounted his own horse.

Sergio was already up and having his second coffee of the morning when the men arrived, smiling at Fernando and clapping him on the back. "Hola, amigo. I hope the wedding doesn't take forever and the party tambien, there are more important things to attend to", he said with a knowing chuckle.

"Si, I can't wait for that either. If we were just peasants this wouldn't be a problem, but our women are ladies", said Fernando with a dry chuckle.

Sergio finished his coffee as the men went to his room. Pepe helped both men put on their suits as they looked at themselves in the mirror, Sergio with a broad grin on his face. "Estamos muy guapo, verdad?", he chuckled.

"Si, Sese", agreed Fernando. Both men wore black pantaloons and starched white shirts with heavily patterned brocade waistcoats over the shirts, their white socks under their short pants as white as their shirts. Sergio added a massive black hat trimmed with peacock feathers as Fernando tried not to laugh. "Amigo, that is like a giant dead bird", he chided.

"No, me gusta eso, Nando. Son un cabellero, verdad?", he laughed.

Fernando just shrugged, knowing that Sergio always had a crazy sense of style and that it was his wedding day. Both men went outside as Pepe followed behind, the three of them mounting their horses and riding slowly towards the cathedral. Many of the pedestrians stepped aside to let them pass, a few of them doffing their caps and smiling when they recognized Sergio as the son of Don Ramos.

The cathedral slowly began filling up with guests as Aine nervously looked down from the balcony. "Who are all these people?", she wondered aloud.

"Esos son las familias de Don Ramos, el son un hombre muy importante aqui y el hijo va bodar tambien", said Elena.

Aine nodded in understanding as Ciara adjusted her veil and the wreath of orange blossoms in her long blond hair. "You look so beautiful, Aine", said the younger girl breathlessly.

"Si, verdad", agreed Elena.

Sergio stood in front of the altar with Fernando at his side, his heart thumping furiously in anticipation as he watched the priest in his shining gold vestments get ready for the ceremony to begin. The doors in the back of the cathedral opened and the organist played as the guests turned around when the bridal party entered the room. Azucena was first as she scattered orange blossom petals on the ground, looking very pretty in her blue and green satin dress with her auburn hair loose around her shoulders.

Sergio glanced backwards and his heart leaped into his throat when he saw his father leading Aine towards the altar, unable to stop the grin on his face. Aine looked stunning in her green and blue satin gown with the sheer white veil covering her face and the orange blossom wreath in her waist-length blond hair, her hands clutching onto a bouquet of white lilies whose pleasant scent wafted towards him. He smiled at her and flicked back her veil as the priest began the service in Latin.

Sergio could barely hear a word as he was too busy stealing glances towards Aine, much to his father's amusement. "Sergio Ramos Garcia, do you take Aine Catherine O'Flaherty to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?", asked the priest.

"I do", he said.

"Do you, Aine Catherine O'Flaherty, take Sergio Ramos Garcia to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?", the priest repeated.

"I do", she said.

When there was no objection, the priest continued. "By the powers vested in me by the Holy Mother Church, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride", he said.

Sergio grinned ecstatically as he leaned over and kissed Aine, a blush on her cheeks. "Más tarde, no ahora", he murmured slyly.
