When Does the Pretending End?

Cristiano’s Pov

I’m hot is the first thing that goes through my head when I wake. I try to shift in the bed but I can’t. Lucy is laying on top of me. Her chest on mine while her legs rest against mine. Her hands on either side of my shoulders. She looks so comfy and surprising so am I. I stroke her head slowly. She moves slightly but doesn’t wake only moving one of her legs over mine. I really should be getting up as it was nearly 7.30. But I don’t want to move. My phone rings and I try to reach it before Lucy wakes but’s its too late as her eyes open. She reaches out and picks up my phone, handing it to me before rolling over onto her side.

“What” I grumble into the phone. “Keep your hair on Ronnie. Just want to remind you that you are picking me up this morning” Nani says. “I know. I ‘ll see you soon” I say hanging up before he speaks again. “Sorry” I say as I look to Lucy who has her back to me. “It’s ok” she says stretching and rolling over to face me. “Hi” I smile at her. “Good morning” she says. “Sleep well” I ask. She nods. “Best night sleep in ages” she says. Thought so I think. “You should head to training” she says. “Trying to get rid of me” I joke. “Yeah I have another Portuguese cutie coming in here soon” Lucy says. Excuse me.

“What” I say rather loudly. “An adorable three year old” she grins and I relax. “Although Nuno might be a change” she says and I roll her onto her back. “You think you are funny don’t you? I say and kiss her cheek. She giggles. “You have training” she says. “I know” I groan throwing back my covers.

“So I’m a cutie am I” I say and she raises her eyebrow. “You said you had another Portuguese cutie coming” I say and grin as the pillow flies above my head. “And here was me thinking you had gotten better at throwing stuff” I say closing the bathroom door.

“Lucy turn the sound up” I hear Rodrigo say as I open the door. “Hello buddy” I say to him as he cuddles up to Lucy in the bed. “Come watch Bob the Builder Tío Cris” he says. “Sorry Rodrigo I have to go to training” I say. “But I’ll watch it with you” Lucy says and he smiles. “This what ye are doing for the day” I ask. “I wish. We are going shopping later” she says with a fake grin on her face. “Rather you than me” I say. I put on my shoes and pick up my wallet from the dresser. “Lucy quick question” I say. “Shoot” she says handing the TV remote to Rodrigo. “If I said buy yourself something on my credit card, would you throw another pillow at me” I ask. “What do you think?” she asks with one hand on the pillow. “Thought so. Just thought I’d check” I say. “See ye two later” I say heading towards the door.

“Tío Cris” Rodrigo shouts. “Yes” I say turning to face him. “Bejios” he says. Since when does this kid want kisses all the time? “There” I say kissing his head. “Don’t forget Lucy” he says trying to move me out of the way of the TV. “Well I wouldn’t want to forget Lucy would I” I grin at her. I sit by her side and move some of her hair behind her ear. “Can’t not kiss you since Rodrigo wants me to” I whisper to her and then kiss her lips. She pulls away from me. “How come he got a kiss on the head?” she whispers quietly so Rodrigo couldn’t hear. “I like your lips better” I say and she taps me on the shoulder trying to hide a smile with her other hand. “Have a fun day” I say quickly kissing her forehead and heading downstairs.

“Bom Día Máe” I say giving her a hug when I reach the kitchen. “What has you in such a good mood?” Nuno asks. “Like you have to ask. Lucy of course” Máe says. “Maé” I say. “Ok I won’t say anymore” she says pretending to surrender by holding her hands up. “But it’s sweet” she mumbles. I groan.

“Have fun shopping” I say trying to distract Máe. “We will. Don’t worry we won’t let Lucy spend all your money” Elma jokes taking a seat at the table. “That will be easy since she doesn’t have my credit card” I say. “Cristiano” Máe shouts at me. “How could you not give her your card” she says. “Jezz no need to shout. She didn’t want it” I say. “The girl you are seeing doesn’t want to use your credit card on a shopping trip” Elma says dismayed. “Ya so. Lucy has her own money. What’s the problem” I say. “Nothing it’s just a first. That’s all” Elma says. Ok so Elma had a point when I think about it. Most of the girls I date use my card more than they sleep with me. Anyway giving Lucy my card only reminds me of the stupid thing I said about buying her clothes to make her feel better about lying to my family. Especially her reaction to it because she felt like a prostitute.

“We’ll be home late so don’t get up too much trouble while we are gone” Máe says to Nuno and I. “Ok. Talk to you later” I say heading to training.

“What had you in such a crouch mood this morning” Nani says getting out of my car at the training ground. “Nothing” I say trying not to remember how comfy it was having Lucy laying on me this morning. “Hey Ronnie, want to watch tapes of Chelsea today to prepare for Sunday’s game” Rio shouts over his car. “Sure I guess” I say. “Don’t sound so happy about it” Nani jokes. “Good. Any chance we could watch them at your house” Rio asks. “Come on all our women are at home today” Wayne says standing next to Rio. “Sure. My mother and sisters are gone shopping for the day” I say. “Guys day” Rio smiles.

After training Nani, Wayne, Rio, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher all come back to mine. “So how is it having all the women in your life living with you?” Rio asks whilst trying to sort out the tapes. “Nightmare I’d say” Nani says. “It’s not that bad. Right Cris” Nuno grins at me. “It’s fine. Are we watching these tapes or not?” I ask Rio. “Nightmare so” Wayne laughs.

“Tío Cris” Rodrigo says running into the room. He stops when he sees all the guys. “Why are you home?” I ask holding my hands out to him. “Mama is not talking to Tiá Elma and Tía Elma isn’t talking to I forget who” he says sitting in my lap. “What happened?” Nuno asks. “Never mind that” I say shaking my head at Nuno. “Where is everyone?” I ask Rodrigo. “Mama and Tía Elma are upstairs and memina is gone for a walk. Lucy and I are playing” he says. Oh shit. Please don’t leave the guys hear that.

“Who is Lucy" Rio asks. “Let’s go find your Mama” I say to Rodrigo.

“Lucy is Tío Cris’s girlfriend” he says and my teammates look at me with stunned faces.
