My Kind of Love

Chapter 2

I woke up the next morning dreading the thought of seeing Gerard waiting for me in the kitchen. That’s why I took my time in waking up and getting dressed before I finally took the plunge and walked down stairs. However when I got there I released a breath as I realized that he had already left for training.

Last night, after his little statement, I walked into the house made up some excuse about being tired and went straight to bed.

"Miss Angie you have a delivery" Rosa, Gerard’s helper, informed as I continued to eat my breakfast.

I nodded my head as she placed a bouquet of 12 pink roses in front of me. They came with a typed out card that read;

EACH ROSE REPRESENTS THE NUMBER OF TIMES IN A MINUTE I THINK ABOUT.

I LOVE YOU.

I couldn’t help but smile at the message and the thought behind them. Even though no name was written I knew that they came from my fiancé Ricardo.

"Do you need anything else?" Rosa asked as she interrupted my daydreaming.

"Nope. At this moment I have everything I need" I told her as I sniffed on my favorite flowers.

The gesture was not unusual to me. I have gotten used to receiving little presents reminding me of how much he loved me. Whenever I confronted him with it he would deny it, acting all confused as if not knowing what I was talking about. But I knew that Ricardo was just acting shy. I mean who else would send me my favorite things randomly, just to tell me how much they love me?

Following my chilled out morning I decided that it was time for me to get down to the wedding planning. With my parents still in Italy all responsibility was handed to me to plan my dream wedding with Ricardo helping me once he came back to Barcelona.

The first thing on the agenda was the wedding cake. In all honesty that wasn’t my top priority but with a best friend like Gerard Pique, I knew food would come first.

We had originally planned to do the cake tasting together but considering how awkward things were between us last night, I wasn’t holding my breath for him to show up.

"Am I late?" Gerard asked just as I was tucking into my second slice of cake.

"Not at all" The baker said as she smiled at him. "It’s very important that the groom helps the bride with all the planning" she told him as she fetched another slice of cake.

"I’m not the groom" Gerard corrected her as he took a seat next to me.

The baker apologized before placing the cake in front of her.

He had still not addressed me directly but for the sake of argument I just went along with what was happening.

"I think the red velvet cake is best" Gerard announced once we were done with the tasting.

"Uhm actually I prefer the Vanilla cake" I corrected him as Gerard gave me a look. I gave him a shrug in response before adding "It’s my wedding and that’s what I want. And anyway Ricardo doesn’t like buttermilk so we can’t have Red Velvet" I told him as I walked up to the baker to discuss the cakes details.

I was there for a whole 20 minutes telling her exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it. Gerard had chosen to wait outside while all of this was going on.

When I had finished I bid the Baker farewell before meeting Gerard outside.

"So what you want doesn’t matter?" he snapped when I stood next to him.

"What are you talking about?"

"I’m talking about the cake. It’s your wedding Ang you should be able to make all your dreams and fantasies come true" he sneered.

"Look Gerard I’m compromising. This wedding isn’t just about me it’s about the both of us" I told him as I folded my arms.

He shook his head and let out a sigh before answering me.

"Angelica you have the rest of your life to compromise but shouldn’t the wedding be the one thing that revolves around you?" he asked as my jaw dropped.

Everything he said was true. My dad had always said that the wedding was for the bride while the marriage was for the couple but I knew Ricardo and if I didn’t bend some of my needs to accommodate his, it wouldn’t end well.

I opened my mouth to give Gerard an answer but he interrupted me.

"Forget I said anything. I’m not the one getting married anyway. Let’s go before we miss our next appointment" he mumbled before walking towards the car.
