Night Changes

Sidney’s POV-Late September 2014
Open practice was over and I had spotted Joanna on the stands. She was in between Lucy and Aria so I was hoping they would keep her with them because some of the wives were really mean when they could be.

“My wife met your Joanna”

I looked at Duper who smiled.

“I saw them talking when we were done”

I sighed and looked at him.

“I get it, I am dating a girl but don’t make a big deal out of it. She’s going to get freaked out” I told him.

“She met Geno, she’s fine”

I sighed and he patted my shoulder.

“We will tone it down a bit”

I nodded and I spotted Joanna. Her hair was up a in bun, and she wore a The North Face jacket, black jeans and some low cut boots. She was also talking with two of the WAGs

“Hey” I said making her look up at me.

She smiled at me and I looked at Veronique who offered me a smile and nodded slowly.

“Hey yourself”

I hugged her and turned to Veronique and Catherine who were slightly interrogating her.

“You ladies chatting?” I asked them.

Catherine nodded as she adjusted Alex on her hip.

“We were, she was telling us why she was late”

I looked at Joanna who smiled.

“Meeting”

“Thought you didn’t have to work today?” I asked her.

“I didn’t but it was the only time we could meet with these people”

I nodded slowly and Catherine smiled at me. She gave me a thumbs up as she nodded.

“Well I have to go and find Kris. It was nice meeting you Joanna”

Joanna nodded and smiled.

“It was nice meeting you too”

Catherine pulled out her phone.

“We should get lunch”

“Sure”

Joanna put her number in Catherine’s phone and handed it back to her.

“I’ll text you, bye!”

She waved and Veronique smiled as she adjusted Estelle in her arms.

“I too must go, it was nice meeting you Joanna. Can I have your number? We need to have lunch”

“Sure”

She tapped her number into Vero’s phone and handed it to her.

“I’ll text you. Bye”

She gave my bicep a squeeze as she passed by. As soon as they were a good distance I looked at Joanna who smiled.

“Lucy went to go find Olli and Ari got taken by one of them”

I nodded and sighed.

“Sorry” I told her.

She shook her head.

“Don’t be they’re looking out for you. They’re real nice people”

I nodded at her and smiled.

“So you brought your car?” I asked her.

She nodded slowly.

“I know you told me to get a ride with Lucy or Ari but I had work”

“It’s ok, I’ll tell Geno I’m going with you” I told her.

She smiled and nodded.

“Alright, where is he?”

I looked up and saw him making his way over.

“Right there” I said.

She turned around and Geno smiled when he saw her.

“Joanna”

“Evgeni”

He pulled her into a hug and kissed both her cheeks.

“Taking Sid?”

She nodded at him and he smiled.

“Good”

I laughed as she looked up at him.

“Why good?”

“I was going to leave him”

She laughed and nodded.

“Well then, we must go”

He nodded at her and she kissed his cheek when he tapped his right cheek.

“All good, you may go”

“Bye Evgeni”

He nodded at her.

“Bye”

He patted my shoulder as he left and we followed him.

“Which your car?”

“The green one”

Geno nodded and looked at the car.

“Pretty car”

“Thank you”

“Joanna!”

She turned around to see Beau jogging over.

“Mind taking Aria and I?”

She shook her head.

“Nah, get in”

He nodded and waved Ari over.

“Olli and Luce are going to be doing god knows what and I don’t want to be a part of it”

I laughed and Joanna shook her head slowly as a smile appeared on her face.

“Alright, come on now”

Geno grinned at me and wiggled his eyebrows as he left. I got into the passenger seat and Joanna was moving her purse.

“Is it warm in here?”

“Yes”

She nodded and turned on the car. The light AC began filling the car as I closed the door. Ari got in and let out a deep breath.

“Sorry Jo”

“It’s all good”

Ari nodded and Joanna pressed play. A song began playing and Beau leaned over as she pulled out of the parking spot.

“Is that the new Maroon 5 CD?”

She nodded at him and he reached for the case.

“So what was your meeting on?”

She glanced at Ari.

“That empty building around here”

I nodded at her; it was the only vacated property around here.

“It’s been empty for a while now. Are you guys taking down the building?”

“Nah, we’re remodeling it. It’s going to be a Bakery/restaurant”

“Nice, what food do you think will be there?”

“She’s half Mexican”

Beau groaned and Ari laughed.

“Babe I miss Mexican food”

“Don’t we all?”

Joanna nodded and she pulled into the apartment. Aria and Beau got out of the car and Joanna turned to me.

“I’m making some tacos”

I nodded at her and we got out of the car. She grabbed a duffle bag and her purse.

“I need to clean Bailey up”

I nodded and followed her into the apartment. Beau already had the hamster on his lap and Aria was laughing.

“You got mail Jo”

Joanna got the box and envelopes.

“Ohhohoho where are you two going?”

Joanna looked at Beau.

“Not everything is about sex B”

He nodded at her.

“Liar”

She laughed and opened the box. She laughed as she looked into the box.

“My brother is an idiot”

She pulled out what you would call a care package and looked at Aria.

“Well we have popcorn”

Aria walked over.

“It’s nice to see your brother believes in protection”

She looked at the box of condoms and shook her head.

“My brother cringes of the thought of me having a boyfriend. Do you honestly expect this to be from him?”

Aria looked at her.

“Your mom”

“My mom”

She shook her head and pulled out some bath bombs.

“Ari look what we have!”

Aria high fived her and looked in.

“Your mom should totally send you food”

Joanna laughed and pulled out a box.

“She sent cookies”

“I love your mom’s cookies!”

She opened the box and handed me one. I took a bite of it and nodded. Beau got one and so did Aria.

“These are so good. I love your mom”

She laughed and got the box.

“She got me tea”

She walked into the living room and I sat down across from Beau. He turned to me and smiled.

“So…when are you going to ask her out?”

I looked at him.

“Soon” I told him making him nod slowly.

“Soon as in?”

“Soon” I told him.

He dropped it when Aria walked into the living room.

“Tacos!”

She handed Beau a list.

“Go get that from the store please?”

He sighed and nodded as he stood up. He got her car keys and looked at me.

“Let’s go”

I followed him out and he turned to me.

“So when?”

I looked at him and sighed.

“Our next date” I told him earning a smile from him.

“Nice, when is that?”

“After the roadtrip” I told him making him nod.

“Alright”

“I need that favor” I told him.

He looked at me and smiled.

“Can Bortz and I finally use those shirts we got?”

I knew which shirts they were talking about. They were these graphic shirts that had a bowtie and suit like design on it.

“Yes” I told him earning a howl from him.

“Ok, we’ll do it”

I nodded.

“And I need you to ask Lucy if she can bake me that Pie she promised me” I told him making him nod.

“She’ll do it, she’ll do anything that makes her busy”

I looked at him and he shrugged a little looking at the road.

“Ever since Olli found”

He suddenly shut his mouth and his eyes got a little wide.

“Olli found what?” I asked him.

He bit the inside of his cheek and looked at me.

“You know what’s wrong with Olli” I told him.

He nodded.

“And Lucy will kill you if you told me?” I asked him.

He shook his head.

“More like Olli will”

I looked at him and he pulled into a parking spot.

“What’s wrong with him” I told him.

He tried to make a run out of it but I locked the door making him whine.

“He’s going to tell you”

I looked at him and he made a run for it making me laugh because im pretty sure he hurt his knee even more. I got out of the car and followed him. We got what was on the list and when we got into the car I turned to him.

“When?” I asked him.

He shrugged and looked at me.

“It’s not for me to say”

I raised an eyebrow.

“Is he ok?” I asked.

He nodded and looked at the road.

“Yea, he’s alright. For now”

“Is it his shoulder?” I asked.

He shook his head and I asked him question regarding Olli. We got to the apartment and he turned to me.

“He has cancer!”

My eyes widened and I looked at him and saw his eyes were wide.

“I wasn’t supposed to say that”

He rubbed his face and I rubbed his arm.

“I wont tell” I told him.

He looked at me.

“It’s not that serious but I couldn’t tell anyone. It was his secret not mine, the only reason he told me was so I could help Lucy. She’s my best friend and I don’t like seeing her crying”

I nodded and let out a deep breath.

“Aria doesn’t know?” I asked.

He shook his head.

“No”

I nodded.

“I’ll just wait till he tells me” I said.

He nodded slowly.

“Where is it?” I asked.

“His Thyroid”

I nodded slowly and let out a deep breath.

“Alright, the ladies need their stuff” I said getting out of the car.

He followed me and I took a few bags. He opened the door and we walked in to see the music was on. Olli was on the couch and Beau froze a little.

“Hey man” I told him as we walked in.

He gave us a smile and took a sip of his tea. Beau and I walked into the kitchen to see Lucy taking a shot. She looked at us and let out a deep breath.

“Hey guys”

“Hey” I said as I put the bag on the counter.

Joanna began putting things away and I noticed there were 3 types of Salsa.

“Tacos are almost ready”

They shooed Beau and I out and I looked at Olli who had Bailey on his lap.

“Shall we leave you two alone?” I asked him making him laugh.

“Nah, he’s eating”

I saw he was indeed eating, a peanut.

“Came for tacos?”

Beau sat on the lazy boy and looked at Olli.

“Yea, Ari called and told Lucy to come over. So we came”

Beau nodded and he looked at the kitchen when Bang Bang began playing. Three voices were heard as well making Olli turn his head as well. Beau stood up and made his way to the kitchen and laughed a little. Olli stood up and made his way over.

“Nice moves”

He laughed and opened his arms. He caught Lucy like nothing and smiled at her. She kissed him and his cheek.

“Foods almost ready”

He nodded and put her down. She hugged his waist and leaned her head on his chest.

“Phone!”

Joanna walked out of the kitchen and looked at the phone.

“Hello”

she put it on speaker and the music stopped playing.

“I need help”

“On what?”

“College Applications”

“Shouldn’t you have started on them already?”

“I did…yesterday”

She laughed lightly and walked into the kitchen. Olli and Lucy disappeared to set up the table and I made my way over.

“Need help?” I asked Joanna who smiled up at me as she ended the call with her brother.

“Nah, we’re done”

I nodded and she smiled.

“You ok?”

I nodded at her and smiled.

“Yea, I’m fine” I told her.

She nodded and smiled.

“Alright”

She hooked her hand with mine and smiled.

“Whatever you say”

She kissed my jaw and I lowered my face to meet her half way.

“Shall we leave you two alone?”

I let out a deep sigh and laughs were heard. I looked at Joanna who kissed me and grabbed a plate.

“Nah, we are done. Let’s eat”

I turned around to see Olli and Beau looking at me.

“I need older friends” I told them making them laugh.

“Don’t worry we won’t say anything”

We served our tacos and made our way to the dining room. I sat next to Joanna who took a sip of her ice tea.

“Let’s eat this”

Beau took a bite of his taco and let out a moan almost.

“Oh god, this tastes great”

“They’re tacos Beau. Not very hard to make”

She took a bit of her taco and I tried my taco. I nodded slowly and hummed.

“These are really good” I said.

“Better than Jo’s kisses?”

Beau snickered and Joanna rolled her eyes.

“Beau try this”

She put some salsa on his taco and he took a bite of it. He then reached for his drink making Olli reach for that same salsa. He took a sniff and laughed.

“Moron”

I looked at Joanna and she smiled as she bit her taco with the same salsa.

“You’re a robot!”

She laughed and smiled.

“Nah, I’m just really used to eating spicy foods”

She took a small sip of her tea and laughed at him.

“How much does your tongue burn?”

“a lot”

“So Sid, you didn’t answer the question?”

I rolled my eyes and they looked at Joanna who took a bite of her taco.

“Would I kiss Sidney or eat this taco?”

They nodded and she smiled.

“Why not both?”

She wiped her mouth and I laughed when she turned my face. She gave me a light peck and went back to eating her taco.

“Delicious”

“Which one?”

“Both”

She said it with a grin and looked at Beau.

“Nice try though”

I laughed and took a sip of my drink. I don’t know if the tingling on my lips was the hot salsa or just a tingle.
