After her grandparents are killed, Marana realises that someone is out for her blood. The police don't see a connection between the deaths of Marana's parents and grandparents, but Marana knows that it's all about her. Which is why it's safer for everyone if she just disappears.
Six months later, Marana is found by the police. Her new guardian, her father's clueless younger sister, has offered to take her in.
