I'm the Last One That You'll Ever Remember

Chapter 141: I'd Run Too!

“You know what the fuck I’m alluding to, Poison!” Michael spat, his face warped with barely controlled fury and rampage. “Are you gonna be the deadman that’s gonna take Sable for me and love her better? Is that what you’re trying to hint?”

As soon as Gerard made sense of what his brother, Michael, was accusing him of, his face hardened with rage. Not caring about not putting his hands on him now, Gerard reached out to thrust his brother back out of his space. “You’re barking up the wrong tree, little man, and you know it! Unlike you, I know who I want to be with and it’s not Sable!”

“Fuck, man!” His brother was telling the truth, Michael could hear his candor. Feeling deranged, Mikey dug his fingers into his hair and began to march the dark hardwood floor. HIs anger was getting the best of him, and he had to get it back under control or else he’ll end up doing something he might repent.

Gerard had never seen his brother so distressed, delusional and sporadically pissed off all at the same time. Michael was the placid one out of the two Way brothers, Gerard always being on the edge. All of sudden their roles interchanged, and now he was looking upon his younger sibling as that, his younger sibling. Michael wouldn’t be suffering if it hadn’t been for him. He wrecked his life, and so he owed him, and Sable. In a way, he was indebted to them. If it hadn’t been for their protection and care he’d be in jail long before he ever identified Frank’s face. He wouldn’t have ever fallen in love. He’d never have experienced being a father. And he surely wouldn’t get to dub himself a husband to no one. Sighing heavily, Gerard resolved to help him. “Mikey, go wait outside for me for a minute.”

Quitting his fidgety pacing, Michael whipped his head around to gawk at his brother incredulously. He read that Gerard was conceding to help him, and he couldn’t begin to declare how thankful he was of that. However the concept of letting him out of his sight rattled him. Michael required Gerard to help him track down Sable, he couldn't do it on his own because this ran too personally for him. He needed someone to keep him leveled, and since Sable wasn’t there, his brother would have to do. If Gerard was conspiring to lock the door behind his back instead and refuse to help him locate Sable, Michael didn’t doubt he’d insert a knife through his brother’s neck right after attending his beloved Black Opal bleed out first. And that’s what terrorized him, that Gerard was arranging to do just that.

The hardness in those light brown eyes though wouldn’t tell him that so Michael settled to put his lingering trust in Gerard to not forsake him. As he took a step towards the hallway that drew to the front door, Michael halted to deliver his threat just in case. “We don’t have all day, Gerard, so don’t take too long. If you do, I will come back into this house, but this time I’ll be lugging you out behind me.”

Not answering to his threat, Gerard regarded Michael leave his home. The sound of Jasiah cooing his mother’s arms soon snagged his attention back. Raising his eyes to the stairs, he watched Frank carefully descending the stairs towards him. “Frankie…” Speedily moving forward, Gerard lightly embraced him, meticulous not to squish their youngest. Leaning down, he kissed his lover deeply before he could mutter a word of the conversation he’d just spied from the stairs. He only concluded the kiss to press one on the top of Jasiah’s soft dark hair who was trying to bend backwards to accost him. “He’s gone. You don’t have to worry about him right now.”

“Gee, w-what are you aiming to do?” Frankie sputtered to say, his voice thick with concern as he stared up at the man he loved through two twinkling pools of hazel eyes.

“Oh, Frankie.” Gerard breathed, cupping his face with both hands. His thumb brushed over the pale silky cheeks to give him some more time with him. “I have go. I have to help locate Sable. She could be in terrible danger for all we know.”

“But Ge-” Frank began to balk, not wishing him to leave. They’d been glued together at the hips since Gerard’s return, and for the second time he was leaving him. Only this time it felt much more dire than the last when he was departing the home to meet up with his brother that one night.

Lying a finger over his lips to quell him, Gerard sought to make him understand. “I know, baby, I know. But right now out of that whole Killjoy family, the ones that mean the most to me are my brother, Michael, and Sable. She’s always been there for me when I needed someone.” Smirking to himself, Gerard shared. “She’s actually the closest friend I ever had that wasn’t related to me.”

Grappling his wrist, Frank extracted the finger restricting him from speaking. He wasn’t going to let him go without a fight! “Gee, yo-”

Gerard cut him off again, this time by leaning forward to breathe against his lips softly. “Frankie, she’s pregnant.” Placing a hand on Frank’s own belly camouflaged beneath oversize hoodies to mask his pregnancy from the public eye, Gerard rubbed the curved belly to accentuate his point just as Jasiah captured a fists of the ends of his red hair. “She’s out there running petrified with a baby in her belly too.”

“I’d run too from a man like your brother!” Frankie hissed, inwardly feeling bad for the poor girl as he retrieved Gerard’s hair from Jasiah’s clutches.

Gerard sighed, the regret trickling back into his bones. Shaking his head, he opposed that claim. “No, baby, this isn’t Michael’s fault. None of this is his fault. It’s mine. I...made him into the way he is now. The only reason he’s a Killjoy is because of me. He felt he had to protect me because I was all he had left in the whole world. But in doing so...he became what I once was, a monster.”

Declining to believe it, Frank shook his head and changed the subject. “Can’t we just go upstairs and call the cops instead?” The look on Gerard’s face told him that he completely misinterpreted what he meant, and before he could open his mouth, Frank remedied himself. “No, not ON him! I mean call the cops for Sable. Perhaps they can help find her too.”

Gerard shook his head, but gave him a pleasant smile as he gave in to Jasiah’s grabby hands and let him hold his index finger. “No, sugar, we can’t embroil law enforcement. We can find her just fine on our own, trust me.”

Swallowing against the lump forming in his throat, Frank whimpered as his hand came up to grasp onto Gerard’s leather jacket. He fearfully fastened to him, making Jasiah babble. “But I don’t want you to go, Gee! W-What if something bad happens and I-I don’t ever get to see you again!?”

“I promise you I’ll be back, sugar.” Gerard vowed with a smile, cupping his face again. “But until I return I want you to stay inside and lock the door. Don’t answer it for anyone.”

Crashing deeper into the chasm of fear, Frank’s hazel eyes enlarged with horror. What reason did Gerard have to ask him to lock the door and not leave his house all of a sudden? He tightened his hold on Jasiah. “W-Why? Is something bad going to happen?”

“Just promise me you’ll do it.” Gerard urged on, his eyes locked on his. He didn’t want to take a chance now that Kobra made his way to his place. If the other members of his family do so too that could end up in a catastrophe he couldn’t bring himself to think of. “Please, for me.”

“O-Okay.” Frank nodded shakily, using the sleeve of his hoodie to mop a monstrous glob of drool diving down a spit line from Jasiah’s bottom lip. “I’ll do it. I’ll lock up after you leave.”

At Frank’s resignation, Gerard crashed his lips over his in a erotic kiss that nearly disintegrated their very bones. Moaning, he persisted when it came to breaking the kiss despite a giggling Jasiah’s chubby hand slapping at his cheek. “Mmm I’ll be making this up to you tonight if you’re still awake.”

“Wake me up anyway.” Frankie weakly smiled, earning another kiss. As he pursued Gerard to the door and locked up behind him, he swerved to the window to watch him leave for a second time.
