Love's Wishes
Six
While at work, all I could think of is how Maria thought I was cheating on her. I am not the cheating type anyway and she knows that!
As I sat at my desk and typed away on my laptop.
"Hey, Daniel, Boss says that we're going to have newbie science geeks coming in next week so we have to prepare a presentation." my good friend Matt says to me.
I nodded and continued to type away.
"You alright, man?" he asked.
"Yeah.. I'm good. I just needed a little bit more sleep this morning." I yawned.
"Well don't let Boss see you catchin' Z's.." he laughed and went to his desk.
As time passed, it got around 12:30 in the afternoon and I finished up my loads of work then packed up my laptop and other devices.
I walked to the Break Room and I heard Matt on the phone.
"I'm sure he doesn't know, Mary." he spoke.
"Who's MARY?" I teased.
He looked a little shocked to see me and then he laughed a little.
"She's just a friend.." he whispered to me and then went back to talking to her.
I shrugged and then went to get my water and coffee.
When I came back, I heard more of Matt's conversation.
"Eve's? Nah, at 4 AM? Hm, something's up.." he said.
What was he talking about? I didn't pay it any mind and left.
When I arrived home, I sat on the couch. I looked to my left and saw keys that were neither mine or Maria's.
"Babe? You home?" I asked as I began to walk around.
There was movement in the bedroom and I started to get suspicious.
"Maria?" I called out as I entered the room.
She was laying on the bed on her iPad. I scratched my head.
"Hey, Daniel." She smiled faintly as she got up.
"Um, who's key's are those in living room?" I took off my jacket and my tie.
Her face turned red and then I really got suspicious.
She got up and then looked up at me.
"Promise you won't be mad at my choice?" She says.
"What choice? What are you talking about? Who's damn key's are they?"
She took me by the hand and guided me to the garage.
"Maria." I said angrily.
She cut on the lights and I saw a brand new car.
"Maria!" I yelled. "Where the hell did you get this?"
"I've been saving up.." She smiled.
I turned to her with my eyes widened and I kissed her passionately.
"I love you, I love you, babe.." I kissed her more.
I ran to look at it and Maria went to go get the keys.
Man, what could I have done to deserve this? We were supposed to pay for it equally. But Maria isn't working full time.. So how'd she do it?
