Jack left home with the motivation to find relief from desert heat and the encouragement from his best friend and, according to her, Jesus. It wasn't hard to find an add written by a bar owner looking for a room mate anywhere in Florida, but Jack somehow found one placed by Parker. The summer seemed to take a turn for the best after that, but Jack was too young to tell just how different it would end up for him by the end of the season.
