Lucy’s POV- January 2015
I took a seat across from Caleb and he smiled.

“Glad you were able to put me into your day darling”

I smiled and put my bag next to me.

“How was your day?” I asked him.

He hummed.

“It was nice, I spotted your boyfriend actually”

I hummed and raised an eyebrow. That was strange because Mattias was at practice. They had a game tonight, and I was actually heading over there after work.

“He was on a billboard, you always did have a thing for athletes”

I said nothing because the waitress made her way over. I smiled at her and raised an eyebrow as a plate was put in front of me. I looked at the salad and cleared my throat making Caleb look at me.

“Uh, what’s this?” I asked Caleb.

He smiled.

“I figured you were on a diet”

“You’re not funny” I said.

I looked at the waitress who was glaring at Caleb. Gina was an undergrad student at Vanderbilt. She actually had to retake the course because Caleb failed her.

“Hi Gina, can I get my usual? Pack the other half to go?” I told the waitress.

She nodded.

“Of course Lucy, I’m so sorry”

“It’s fine” I told her.

She nodded and took the salad with her. Once she was gone I turned to Caleb who grinned at me. He took a bite of his sandwich and tapped my leg with his shoe.

“I figured you’d want to look good for your boyfriend, the good ole’ hockey player”

I shook my head and he cleared his throat.

“Jokes aside, how’d you find this one?”

I looked at him and decided to ignore him.

“How’s England, why are you here?” I asked.

He chuckled.

“I was in town”

I raised an eyebrow.

“Ok fine you got me, I wanted to see you”

I looked at him and he smiled.

“Come on, you had to miss me”

I raised an eyebrow.

“Not really” I said making him lean back.

“I see, so how’s the sex with that hockey player?”

“Why do you care?” I asked him.

He grinned.

“You haven’t slept with him”

“Why does it matter to you?” I asked him.

He smirked.

“I’m just surprised”

I shook my head slowly at him and thanked Gina who put a plate of food in front of me.

“Thank you” I told her.

She left and Caleb smiled at me.

“Can you stop being a dick” I told him.

“I can try”

I nodded and I began eating.

“He’s always traveling, probably sleeping with other woman”

I hummed.

“I trust him” I said as I took a bite of my mashed potato.

“Does your uncle know of him?”

I nodded.

“Yes actually. Mattias met my family and spent New Years with us” I said.

He hummed.

“I never met your uncle”

I smiled.

“You were just a friend” I said.

He nodded and took a bite of his sandwich.

“I was going to ask you for a favor, but now I don’t know if I want to. It might make Mattias mad”

“Why would it make him mad?” I asked.

“I was going to ask you to be my date for a gala my parents are hosting”

I nodded slowly.

“It’s actually tomorrow”

“I can’t, Mattias and I are actually going to dinner” I said.

He nodded and leaned back.

“Nevermind then”

I nodded.

“Don’t fall too hard Lucy. We don’t want what happened last time to happen again. Is that why you’re afraid to have sex with him?”

“I think that is none of your business” I snapped at him.

He grinned.

“Defensive”

I rolled my eyes and continued eating.

“I mean he is a hockey player. He could get any girl he wants”

I reached for my purse and he chuckled I reached for my wallet

“Come on Lucy, take a joke”

“What the fuck is wrong with you. In no way is that funny. How’s your ex? Is she still married to your bestfriend?” I asked.

The stupid smirk on his face dropped and he glared at me.

“Fuck you Caleb” I said getting up.

“Really?”

“Yes really” I said walking to the front of the restaurant.

Gina looked up and handed me my takeout box.

“Thank you” I told her handing her a bill.

She shook her head.

“It’s on the house”

I looked at her and she smiled.

“I always liked you more, I don’t know what’s going on but hope you have a nice day”

“Thank you” I told her as I left.

I was not about to sit there and let him talk like that to me. Yes, he was incredibly blunt but he was just offensive.
