Status: So I haven't written a fan faction since I've been out of high school. Probably about five and a half years or so. So take it easy on me. I hope you enjoy!

Simple Man

Lovestoned

The sun was just about to set completely as Dean looked over at Amanda as she scribbled away in a notebook. He smiled to himself, realizing how focused she was. Softly, Hailee Steinfeld was playing in the background and he tried his best not to complain about her music choices, but as long as she was happy so was he. He was curious about what she was writing, though, so when he pulled to a stoplight he peered over and she quickly raised her notebook and whacked him in the face lightly. She giggled when he pretended to look offended, then went back to her writing. “You could just ask me, you know,” She shook her head lightly and looked up at him through her lashes.

“Okay,” He chuckled, “What are you writing so vigorously in your notebook?”

She smiled slyly, “I’m not telling you.”

“You’re cruel,” He shook his head as she lit a cigarette. “You hungry?”

“Yes,” She groaned, holding her belly. As Dean started to pull into a gas station, she looked over at him and smiled. “Hey.”

He was about to get out of the car to fill the gas tank up, but stopped and turned toward her. “Yeah?”

She smiled wide, “Thank you.”

He tilted his head in confusion, “For what?”

“Just…” She drifted off and took his hand in her’s. “Just for being there for me. You’re a good man, Dean. And sometimes I feel I don’t deserve you. But you make me so happy, so please don’t realize that you’re too good for me,” She chuckled. “Because I don’t think I could lose you again.”

Dean smiled, and instead of replying, he gently cupped the side of her face and brought her into a sweet kiss. Amanda’s stomach filled with butterflies and she couldn’t help but smile wide as she deepened the kiss by putting her hands around the back of his neck, pressing her lips harder against his. She began running one hand through his beautiful hair and he smiled against her. She still couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that Dean was hers…and she didn’t think she would ever get used to it.

After a minute, they both came up for air and smiled. Amanda was breathing quite heavily, “If you don’t leave this car soon, these people are going to get a show they certainly didn’t pay for,” She smirked and watched him step out of her SUV, lightly tapping his ass in the process. When she saw him go into the gas station, she brought her notebook back out and started writing again. She wouldn’t tell Dean, but she was writing songs. She thought that maybe after all of this shit calmed down, she might start making music again but she didn’t know how Dean would feel about it. So for now, she was going to keep her mouth shut. Dean walked back to the car and tossed Skittles toward Amanda as soon as he climbed in, earning a satisfied smile from her. “Did you get…”

He sighed and tossed her two packs of cigarettes, then as soon as she put those in the glove compartment, he tossed her a bag of white cheddar popcorn; and when she put that on the floorboard, he handed her a scratch-off ticket. She laughed.

“What is this, Christmas?” She smiled like a child as she dug in her wallet for a coin. “I love these. My dad used to let me do these when I was a kid,” Dean’s smiled faded, but hers didn’t. She giggled as she vigorously pressed the coin against the paper. When she finished, she looked it over and sighed. “Damn, that sucks.” She handed it back to him, smile still wide and opened her bag of popcorn. “Fuck, I need a drink. I’m sorry,” She pouted but he smiled again and reached down in the bag and handed her a Mountain Dew. She sighed, wondering how she got so lucky, “Thank you, Mary Poppins. You’re so good to me.”

Dean shook his head and smiled as he drove off again. For about an hour or two, they took turns playing music and singing along, but as the night went on, Amanda could feel her eyes start to become heavy. Soon, she was lying her head against the cool window and within moments she was fast asleep. Dean smiled softly and turned the music down. He looked out at the open road ahead of him and was thankful for being able to see sights like this. He was also thankful you were in his life. You were his girl, and nothing was going to change that.

While Dean was thinking about how great his life was, the car started rumbling and he cursed quietly as he pulled over. Amanda jolted awake at the sound, then gave him a confused look. “Did we break down?”

He gave her a weak smile, “I’m sorry. Go back to sleep. I’m just going to see what’s wrong.”

“No, it’s okay,” She stretched and got out of the car with him, then lit a cigarette and leaned against the car as she looked up at the clear, starry sky. “How long was I out?”

He shrugged, then looked at her from under the hood. She couldn’t help but feel butterflies in her stomach; there was something about Dean leaning over the engine of her car. Her eyes drifted from his chest to his toned biceps and right down to his hands. It was sexy, and it was doing something to her. “Just about half an hour. Not long.” He caught her staring and smirked. “Like what you see?”

Her eyes went wide and she blushed, then turned away and took a hit off her cigarette, silently cursing herself. Dean just smiled and shook his head, then got back to work on the car. While she wasn’t looking, it was his turn to stare. She was wearing black combat boots. Strike one, he thought to himself and smirked. Then his eyes drifted upwards as he searched her long, tan legs. They stopped at the hem of her short jean shorts. Strike two, he softly groaned inwards. His breath hitched in his throat as his eyes landed on her chest, then he was almost a goner as he looked at the way her curly red hair rested perfectly on her breast. I am going to hell. He shook his head roughly and cleared the thoughts that were going through his head. He told himself to quickly fix this car so they could find a motel. Dean was so concentrated on fixing the car he didn’t notice her walk up behind him. “Did you figure it out?”

He jumped in fright and quickly turned around, then couldn’t breathe as he noticed how close she was standing. She had a smirk on her face and shook her head. “Uh – I think it just got a little overheated. I’m gonna – gonna go and try to get her to start.” He scratched the back of his neck as he walked toward the driver’s side. She knew exactly what she was doing and it killed him.

Thankfully, he got the Rover to start and Amanda smiled and quickly jumped in, then strapped herself in tight. Dean sped off and snuck a glance at her. She was looking at him with a look that only he knew. It was a look that she would only give to him; a dangerous look.

“I am stopping at the next motel I find,” He pointed a finger at her. “And we…” He pointed between the two of them with a frustrated tone. “Are going to solve this issue we have as soon as we get there.”

She giggled, “And what is that issue?”

“You are killing me, you know that?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Dean,” She breathed as she rested a hand on his thigh, causing him to sigh in frustration as he looked at the road ahead. There was a sign that said there was a motel in five miles. I can make it that long, He thought to himself as Amanda traced up and down the upper part of his leg. He grabbed her hand roughly and groaned.

“Stop,” He tried to be stern, but it ended up coming out like a whine. “Can you make it four more miles?”

He looked over to her and she smirked. “I think that question should be directed towards you, babe.”

Then she winked at him with a smile and he was a goner. His foot pressed on the pedal as far down as it would go and within two minutes they were turning into the motel. Dean looked around and noticed no one was outside, so he quickly jumped out of the Rover and grabbed their bags from the trunk, then took Amanda’s hand and dragged her to check in. She giggled and took one of the bags from him as he made his way to the service desk. Dean struggled to find his words, but eventually asked the clerk for a room, then quickly paid and grabbed the keys. He mutter a quick ‘thank you’ and drug Amanda out of the room and toward room number five. She quickly moved the car around to the parking spot right in front of the door and sighed, proud of herself for making Dean act this way. She marched straight up to him and pushed his back against the door and pulled him into a passionate kiss, then quickly unlocked the door and shoved him inside with a hunger in her eyes. As soon as she dropped her bag, he followed suit and gave her a child-like grin. But the look on her face had changed. She was looking past him now and she looked like a mix of confused and frightened. Dean looked behind him and became angry and took Amanda’s hand.

He sighed, “Amanda, this is…”

The woman smirked and folded her arms across her chest, “Meg; nice to meet you, yada, yada, you know the drill.” Amanda realized who she was and her expression softened. “Sorry to be a cock-block and all, but we need to get down to business.”

Sorry it took so long for me to get this out. Between getting engaged, two days later taking my fiancé to have an emergency appendectomy (he's fine), and getting a puppy, I've been pooped. But I'm back! This chapter is definitely a filler and I'm sorry about that, but it's definitely a fluffy filler if I've ever seen one. Enjoy! We will get to the good stuff in the next chapter. Let me know what you think!

Love always,
Amanda
