The Young and the Hopeless

Wondering

Present Day

"That song's not about you. It's about Ca$h."

"Let me guess. Benji wrote it."

"Yeah."

"He's always been the weirder one."

"Yeah."

"Joel?"

"Yeah."

"Are you even listening to me?"

"Yeah."

"Do you know how to say anything but yeah?"

"Yeah."

"Joel!"

"Sorry. But honestly, Mickey, you haven't changed much."

"I've changed enough to tell you to never call me Mickey. That was high school, Joel."

"When we split, I spent my years wondering what went wrong. Was it my fault? Or was it inevitable? Could it have been prevented?"

"I was wondering the same things. But I found it best to just move on. Quit dwelling on the past."

"Was it easy for you?"

"No. It was Hell. I could hardly spend more than five minutes without crying. But I made it. And I quit wondering."

"I never did."

"You probably should've."

"I couldn't. I wasn't lyring when I told you that you were my soul-mate."

"Then what went so wrong?"
