Chapter 7
Matt’s POV
I woke up and stretched out feeling muscles strain and bones crack. I sat up and looked around my room; I had managed to put all of the new stuff in one corner of the room. I looked to the clock to see it was 8:00 in the morning, I wondered what had woken me up and I spied my phone on the bedside table, it beeping signalling I had a message. I opened it to see the a simple message

Don Diangelo wanted a meeting with us and Valeria.
I got out of bed and grabbed some clothes then took a quick shower. I changed, shaved and sprayed on deodorant and body spray then walked out casting a glance at the new stuff, it would have to wait.
I walked down to Valeria’s room and knock on the door, when I didn’t hear any noise I cautiously opened the door and looked in. I saw Valeria stretched on her front on top of the covers in yesterday’s clothes, fast asleep, she was clutching a pillow in one hand and had the covers fisted up in the other. I smiled at the sight and walked in further to her room; I walked over to the bed and gently shook her awake.
“wake up honey it’s time to get up now!” I said to her, she opened her eyes lazily and looked up at me before yawning then sitting up. She glanced at the clock then back at me with a glare
“why am I up at 8:00?” I chuckled
“because Don wants a meeting with us, probably to discuss your mission or placement, whatever it is” she nodded and asked
“what time is the meeting?”
“11:00” she moaned and flopped back on the bed
“nooo! Wake me up again in an hour meanie!” I laughed and grabbed her hands then hauled her off the bed
“come on Val! The sooner you get ready and we head out then the sooner the meeting can be over” she opened one eye at me and gave me a one eyed glare then huffed and let go of my hands then stomped into the bathroom where I heard the shower turn on. I left the room laughing and headed down to the kitchen.
I got there to see Brian, Zack and Johnny stood there each holding a cup of coffee “where’s Jimmy?” I asked the room; Johnny answered
“talking to his wife who is not all that happy I can tell you” I grimaced because Mina when she is angry is not a pretty sight
“what she doesn’t like him going?” Brian shook his head
“nah man she doesn’t like the fact that she found out he’s been in the club, one of her friends saw him there and she jumped to conclusions”
“ouch” I said back as I got myself some coffee.
We stood around talking and drinking coffee to wake ourselves up, Zacky and Johnny eating cereal while Brian ate toast and I had made myself a sandwich. Jimmy soon joined us looking stressed and got some coffee and a doughnut
“remind me why I got married?” he asked us
“cause you love her” Zacky answered back, Jimmy just sighed and carried on eating then replied
“yeah I do but she is so damn suspicious of me all the time!” I shrugged
“that’s part of the job, they can’t really trust you if they don’t know what’s going on, I mean the only way for that to happen was if she was one of us” Valeria took that moment to breeze into the room
“ciao guys! Mmm coffee, magnifico” she then went straight for the coffee maker and poured herself some then added 2 sugars and lots of cream. She was dressed in an outfit which looked nice but wasn’t appropriate.
“Valeria what are you wearing?” I asked her, she looked down at herself then back at me with a raised eyebrow
“clothes” I rolled my eyes
“yes I can see that but for these meetings we go in smart clothes” I motioned to the rest of us who were dressed in suits or at least black jeans and a shirt and jacket. She looked at each of us and grinned
“well don’t you guys look fancy! I should have brought a camera with me!” I rolled my eyes again as Brian glanced over at me with a smile
“Valeria can’t you go change?” she looked over at the clock on the wall and smiled “nope, we have an hour to get there and that is no time for me to change, oh well, to the cars we go!” then she turned and walked out the door.
I growled and Jimmy put a hand on my shoulder
“trust me man, you have no control over her what so ever so don’t even try” I sighed and followed the guys out to the cars where Valeria was waiting in her car. We all got in our respective cars and headed off to HQ.
We reached HQ and got out of our cars, the guys all came and stood next to me while Valeria leaned against her car frowning up at the building. I walked over to her and put a hand on her shoulder, she averted her gaze to me and I smiled at her reassuringly.
“you scared?” she rolled her eyes and said
“psh! I wouldn’t be scared of this place if they were freaking vampires! Nah I just don’t like a lot of the people here, lots of well you don’t wanna know” then she walked off and over to the building. I motioned for the guys to follow and caught up with Valeria, walking closely by her side; the guys quickly caught up and we walked inside and through the halls to the conference room.
Valeria’s POV
We reached the conference room doors and I looked at Matt next to me
“err Matt you might not want to stand so close, it’s not formal for you to stand so close to me at a business meeting” he nodded and stepped away from me a bit and then I walked forwards and opened the doors.
I walked in with the guys and Don Diangelo rose from his seat with a smirk
“ahh Valeria! You always did like to make an entrance” I plastered a smirk on my face
“well what better way than to walk in with 5 guys?” Don smirked wider and motioned for us to take our seats before retaking his. I had Brian and Matt on either side of me and Zacky, Jimmy and Johnny opposite us. I sat back in my chair with a cocky manner which I knew I had to keep up in this place or be trodden on, I looked at the others to see Johnny sat up straight looking at the wall behind Matt’s head; Jimmy looking quite bored drawing patterns on the table, Zacky just relaxing in his chair looking towards the ceiling. I rolled my eyes and didn’t bother looking at Brian and Matt as they would be doing the same thing.
Don looked at each of us then opened up the folder in front of him, the guys snapped to attention at the sound and I just rolled my eyes; damn they are like trained dogs some times! Don looked at the folder then up at me
“well cara mia I think you know why you are here” I rested my elbows on the table and looked down at him
“yeah, I’m here so you can give me something to do, hopefully someone to kill ‘cause I’m getting withdrawals” Don smirked at me and handed me a sheet of paper. I looked down and saw the name of the club the guys were working at and the name of a few people.
“those are the names of the targets you have to kill; they have been messing with the girls in some other clubs and trying to move in on our businesses. I want them gone, you will be working there as a dancer where you can get close to them and kill them anyway you want just not too noticeable. Oh and make friends with some of the girls, I want them to know they have protection on the inside as well as these guys” he motioned to the guys sat around the table and they nodded. I looked over the sheet and then set it down in front of me crossing my arms.
“what’s my name?” Don looked at me and replied
“I think you can handle that can’t you? You will of course be one of the show room girls so that no guys can touch you unless they ask for a dance and I want you to work on getting the targets to like you” I nodded
“so you want me to make them want a private dance, take them into a private room and kill them there where no one will see?” he just nodded and I folded the paper and put it in my pocket before standing up
“well if that’s all i-“
“sit down Valeria, I’m not finished” I sat back down with a scowl and crossed my arms and stared at the wall behind Zacky’s head.
“you know what I want you to do now so please do it without a fuss” I glared harder at the wall then sighed and looked to Don Diangelo
“I pledge allegiance to the flag” I started and he growled
“that is not what I meant” I smirked and innocently said
“oh dear I seem to have forgotten what to say, oops” Don glared at me and I rolled my eyes then stood up out of my seat.
“I give my heart, body and soul to the mafia and promise never to betray it on pain of death. I willingly give myself to the cause and pledge to give my life for the mafia if anything ever happens to it. I will rise to glory with them and fall to the pits of hell if I ever fail them, this I pledge” I then plonked back in my chair and glared at Don
“happy?” he nodded and I got back up
“bye then” I then walked out and down the halls back outside.
Matt’s POV
I watched Valeria walk out the door then when the door was closed I looked back up at Don Diangelo who was looking towards the door as well. He blinked and then looked back at all of us with a chuckle
“she always did have a temper, got it from her mother who I must say is a fiery woman” he then laughed outright while the boys and I sat there and looked at him.
He finished laughing then looked at us in turn and smiled
“well boys it’s great to see you all looking well, how are things going?” Jimmy answered
“well I’m great, Danny’s doing fine he likes playing football at the moment and Mina has been doing fine, she doesn’t want for anything” Don nodded
“good, we don’t want our women upset or anything, we take care of them. What about you Johnny? Still going with anything?” Johnny smirked
“yep, don’t wanna settle down yet, I’m having too much fun” we all laughed at him and then Zacky said
“well my girlfriend and I aren’t doing so well. Amy has been getting distant and going out a lot, I think she might be cheating” we all looked at him sympathetically and Don said
“well it should all sort its self out soon, what about you Brian?” he shrugged
“nothing really, I’m doing fine and I got my eye on someone” you have to tell Don the truth even though I know Brian didn’t want to.
“who is it?” Don asked with a raised eyebrow
“a girl in the club we’re workin’ she’s a dancer” Don smiled
“if you ask nicely maybe Valeria will set you up with her?” Brian grinned and replied “hopefully” I asked Don the question then that had been bugging me the whole time “Don, why does Valeria hate you?” Don sighed and looked at the table.
“she has hated me since she was little, the first time I met her was when she was christened and as soon as I held her she burst into hysterics, I mean she was a baby and didn’t like me at all so it kinda told me what to expect as she grew up” we nodded and he carried on
“well whenever she was bought here with her father to visit she would sit and scowl at me, for a Bambina she had a nasty glare. I think she blames me for the way her father acts but the truth is he always was that way, it’s why I hired him in the first place. Anyway she just never liked me and when her Madre and Padre got into fights her Madre would come to me and she didn’t like that one bit. I guess she thought I was stealing her Madre away as well, and that is why she hates me so now I just act the same way to her, it’s easier” Brain spoke up
“but surely if you showed her you were actually a nice guy when you aren’t in business mode she would start warming up to you?” Don laughed
“I don’t think that girl has warmed up to anyone since she had a friend at 6 and then when the kids dad got kicked from the mafia and the kid went with them she turned to ice, the whole time she was a part of us I don’t think I saw her smile once though I have to say she didn’t seem as hard up today, why is that Matt?” my head shot up, “what does it have to do with me?” Don laughed and the guys smirked
“Matt most of the meeting you were burning holes in her skin, it’s a wonder she didn’t feel it though I guess she was focused on other things” I shrugged
“I’m not with her, we’re friends like the rest of the guys” Zacky scoffed
“I don’t think so! You’re the one she goes to, you help her all the time, you’re always hanging out and she even went and got you a load of stuff for your room!”
“hey! She asked if I wanted anything and suggested stuff for my room, she got you guy’s stuff you asked for” I said defensively. Don laughed
“calm down Matt, I understand that you like her, it’s fine, I mean she is like you in a lot of ways and she could definitely give you a run for your money! I remember hearing about her boyfriends when she was younger, I mean the stories her mother could tell you but you have to ask Valeria about it. Anyway as I know how you all are now and you are briefed then you can go home and rest up for tonight, I want you at the club for Valeria’s first night ok?” we all nodded and he dismissed us.
We walked down the hallway and I had Brian at my side
“well that was interesting” I chuckled
“yeah it was fun having you lot tell Don I like Val”
“well you do, no use in hiding it, you just have to get her to like you now” Brian told me and Zacky joined in
“yeah though it won’t be hard, you’re Matt remember?” I laughed and said
“yeah Zacky I’m Matt, the almighty babe magnet” I said just as we exited the building and I heard a snort behind us. I looked at the side of the building to my right and saw Val leant up against the wall with her phone in hand.
“what?” I asked
“oh nothing just Matt the almighty babe magnet? Psh uh huh, I bet you couldn’t pick up a girl at the club tonight” I raised an eyebrow at the challenge
“you want to make a bet?” she grinned and walked over to me
“you bet your ass I do! I bet that you can’t get a girl to make out with you by closing” I grinned and stuck out my hand
“you’re on missy, only if you do the same”
“make out with a girl? Ok” she grinned and shook my hand then headed over to her car. I cursed
“shit, now I have to make out with someone in front of her, she has to make out with one too, damn hmm maybe this could be fun”
