You're Seldom Known and Barely Missed

The Last Show

"I'm gonna miss you. A lot." Bill said, kissing me again. I smiled and kissed him back, but sighed a little. "Bill, I have to get ready. I love you, I'll miss you, but I have to go get ready." I said, kissing him once more before escaping from his hold to get to the bus. "Fine." he muttered as he walked away, and I smiled. "Don't be a sulky emo boy. I'll be back." I said after him. He stuck his tongue out at me as I slowly walkedback to the bus.

As I returned, I was greeted with wolf whistles from the guys, who were actually on our bus for once. "Perverts." I said, continuing to get ready, and heard them all laugh. I tried to look good for once, doing a little something with my hair, carefully putting on my makeup, and wearing one of my best outfits. Bill and I were going out again after the show. As I finished up, I started outside to model for Bill.

He smiled as he saw me walk out. "You clean up good." he said walking over to me and kissing me gently before taking my hand. "As do you, I'm assured. You just haven't yet." I joked.

We laughed together as we headed into the venue for sound check, and just to set up for the show. I guess we would also have some peace if it weren't for the crew, and they didn't really care, but we had plenty of time to say goodbye.

I heard cheers as I mounted the stage with the band. I nodded to Valerie, and the music started into one of our songs
from our first album.

This shirt is old and faded
All the color's washed away
I've had it now for more damn years
Than I can count anyway
I wear it beneath my jacket
With the collar turned up high
So old I should replace it
But I'm not about to try

This shirt's got silver buttons
And a place upon the sleeve
Where I used to set my heart up
Right there anyone could see
This shirt is the one I wore to every boring high school dance
Where the boys ignored the girls
And we all pretended to like the band

I glanced sideways offstage, just to see Bill smiling back at me. I winked, and he smiled crookedly back at me. I turned my attention back to the crowd and kept singing, trying to keep them entertained.

This shirt was the place your cat
Decided to give birth to five
And we stayed up all night watching
And we wept when the last one died
This shirt is just an old faded piece of cotton
Shining like the memories
Inside those silver buttons

The last verse was always the most poewerful. I had taken the microphone off the stand. I tried to put a softer focus back on the song as I finished up.

This shirt is a grand old relic
With a grand old history
I wear it now for Sunday chores
Cleaning house and raking leaves
I wear it beneath my jacket
With the collar turned up high
So old I should replace it
But I'm not about to try

The concert went very well from then out. It was definitely the best crowd we'd had. I smiled and waved out to the crowd. "Alright, we got one more for ya. It's called Revenge." I heard more cheers as Samantha and Summer started up.

By now you should know everything you say
Can and will be used against you some day
I got the microphone so don’t go too far
Cause I’m gonna tell the whole world how you really are

I don’t even care how you’re gonna feel
Cause I’ve already tried to give you something real
So go ahead and get mad never talk to me again
I don’t even care cause I got my

Revenge
Revenge
Revenge
Got my revenge

One night you’re begging me to stay
The next night you push me away
I don’t need you’re promising to give it up
Is too late cause now I’m giving up

Revenge
Revenge
Got my revenge

Revenge
Revenge

"Alright guys, that's it for us! Enjoy The Academy Is!" I yelled, walking offstage with a wave. As soon as I got back there I found Bill before he had to go on and kissed him deeply. "Good luck." I whispered with a smile. He kissed me back before heading out onstage. "See you after the show." he said, almost seductively.

I stood there right offstage, grinning like crazy. I watched them mount the stage with 'Slow Down,' ans couldn't help but chuckle. My favorite song. I sung along for most of the set. I knew all the words now. Finally, it was approaching their last song.

"Well, well, well. This tour's been great, and I think you guys are the best crowd we've had yet." Great minds think alike, I thought while the crowd cheered. "So, this last one's called 40 Steps. It's one of our Santi B-sides, and my personal favorite to play."

Soft light, total silence
So tired to take the table near the door
The table near the door
Sat back on the fire
Only as stable as it'll choose to show
If I choose to show
But where were you that night?
When I was...

You say you don't believe in science
You're always afraid of what you can't control
I will follow you anywhere
But where were you that night?
When I was...

When I was calling for the answer
That you probably shouldn't know
Well, it feels like flames surrounding me here
When you were calling with your question
When all I needed was to know
Well, it feels like flames surrounding me here

So this is it
So this is it
So this is the silence
So this is the silence we became
It's never quite
It's never quite over
It's never quite over in the sorrow

When I was calling for the answer
That you probably shouldn't know
Well, it feels like flames surrounding me here
When you were calling with your question
When all I needed was to know
Well, it feels like flames surrounding me here

I cheered like mad with the crowd as the band came offstage, and Bill walked over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist. "I hope you don't mind, but I think you'll like it. You want to play the encore with me?" he asked, and I smiled.

"Glad you know me so well." I said, kissing him gently. "What is it?" I asked with my best puppy-dog pout, knowing he wouldn't want to tell me.

He shook his head, taking me by the hand and walking towards the stage. "Not gonna work this time. Just set up yourself with the keyboard." I smiled, but sighed as I did what he said, and heard loud cheers as the two of us walked out. I waved as I finished up and took the mic and set it with the keyboard.

"Hey guys." I heard Bill say, and I looked up to see him set up with his acoustic. "Well, the two of us are gonna play you an encore. You might know it, you might not. We're gonna cover Remembering Sunday by All Time Low-"

"And Juliet Simms" I added after I finished setting up, knowing exactly what he was doing. It was my favorite song! He smiled and looked over at me. "And Juliet Simms. Enjoy." I heard fangirlish screams as he started to play and rolled my eyes. He began to sing on the verse, and I joined him soon after with the harmony.

He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Starting making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days

Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs

Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

We smiled and looked at each other as we started the chorus together. He knew exactly what I was waiting for.

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

He grinned at me as we sang the chorus, and I smiled again. I loved Bill, and it was times like this when I knew exactly why.

Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They're filling his gut

Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads though he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside

My excitement escalated as I began to play the keyboard, knowing what came. I ad my favorite part for a reason, and now I actually got to perform it!

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, whoever she may be

I took the microphone off the stand, and sang my heart out, as sincerely as I possibly could. I felt myself really get into thesmall part I had, and felt all eyes on me. Not turning back now.

I'm not coming back
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head

I heard loud cheers, and knew Bill's eye were on me, too as he finished up with the last few lines. He then slipped off his guitar, layed it down on the stool, and walked deliberately over to me. I had put down the mike, and saw that all eyes were on the both of us. "That was really sexy." he whispered, and took my face in his hands. "You weren't so bad yourself." I whispered, and he dipped me back, as if we were dancing, and kissed my passionately. I was surprised at first as I heard the roar of the crowd, but threw all those thoughts as I kissed Bill. Onstage. At our last concert. Somehow, I knew this relationship was going to last a long time.
