Messed Up Youthful Innocence

Don't Leave Home Without 'Em

{Andy's point of view}

I snuck into our bedroom; Chrissy was already asleep curled up under the blankets so I tried to be quiet when I slipped into bed. I wasn’t quiet enough. Chrissy rolled over and looked at me.

“The thing about tour busses is that you get used to sleeping in close confines. When you
stop, you don’t exactly get used to not sleeping on top of each other.” she whispered to me.

“I know.”

She snuggled into me and sighed. We were almost asleep when we heard the kids walking
down the hallway, then scuffle against the door.

“Can you hear anything?” Drew’s voice sounded through the crack below the door.

“No, I can’t”

“Well knock.”

“No you knock”

“I’m not knocking, what if they’re doing something.”

“They’re not we’d hear them.”

Chrissy sighed and pulled away from me.

“I love them dearly but some days they’re more of a hassle than four teenage boys in a van.”

“Just fake an orgasm or something, I’d scare them away.” I sighed

“I’ve never had to fake one” Chrissy said quietly.

“If that isn’t an ego boost I don’t what is” I said smirking in the darkness.

It sounded like the kids were fighting right outside our door. There was a lot of rustling.
Chrissy finally gave up pretending to sleep and sat up with her back against the headboard.
I followed suite.

“What do you two want?” Chrissy screamed towards the door.

The rustling stopped and then there was whispering.

“Can we come in?”

“Yes”

The door opened and one of them turned on the lights, I squinted then found my glasses on
the nightstand.

“So, um, how are you two doing?” Drew asked awkwardly.

Katie rolled her eyes and sat on the edge of the bed. Drew sat on the other edge.

“We were fine, until we heard you two.”

“Ew so you were?”

Why do they always assume we’re having sex?

“No, Drew, we were sleeping, the one with the z’s and you two woke us up.”

Not a complete lie, not completely the truth. I think she said it to make them feel bad.

“Sorry” Katie said quietly.

“Yeah about that” Drew trailed off.

“About what?” Chrissy asked.

“A little birdie told me” Drew started

“He means he got it out of a little Wentz” Katie finished.

He shot her a dirty look and continued.

“So, I heard, that Fall Out Boy might not be on hiatus anymore, and that you’re writing with
intent to record.” Drew carefully said

“So?” Chrissy muttered

“And possibly tour.”

“And?”

“Well, what is going to happen? I mean, are you going to go and leave us with grandma and
grandpa? Because that would totally suck ass”

“Drew”

“Sorry, but you know it would!”

I looked over at Chrissy. She shrugged her shoulders. If drew had gotten it out of Kayla that
meant they had told her so there was no point in keeping it from them.

“We are recording.”

“Sweet” Katie exclaimed her eyes lighting up.

“There will be a tour, most likely in the summer.” Chrissy sighed

“So that leaves us with grandma and grandpa?”

“Hell no. Honestly drew, we left you alone for 48 hours and you hook up with Kayla, or well,
we found out about you two hooking up. We’re not leaving you kids here for the possibly the
entire summer.”

“So we’re going with?” drew spazzed.

Katie was harder to read, she was excited, but something else was going on.

“Yes you’re going with.”

“Now, please, go to bed. You guys have school in the morning.”

“Okay mom”

When they were almost out the door I remembered what we had all agreed on.

“Hey, guys don’t tell anyone, it’s not officially announced yet.”

Katie frowned but agreed. She shut the door as she left and turned out the light. Chrissy and
I were alone again in the darkened room. She snuggled underneath the blankets again.

“Do you think it’ll be okay? Like bringing them along for the entire tour?” I asked.

“Do you really want them home alone?”

“No”

“Well they’ll be with us for at least 18 hours a day so we can keep an eye on them, plus if
everyone else brings their families, there won’t be much room for Kayla and Drew play
time.”

“Good”

“Now go to sleep.”

“But what about Katie?”

“Go to sleep.”
